Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2469: Chapter 2470: Return to Tianyun (36)

”Hey!” Su Xing and Taoming Ye quickly responded, then exchanged smiles filled with sweetness.

Madam Huo watched this scene, only chuckling and shaking her head without saying anything further. She glanced at the gifts for the homecoming before speaking, ”Xin’er said these gifts emptied your own reserves. Don’t worry about it; I have only Xin’er as a granddaughter. I wouldn’t let you take these gifts back, but after I’m gone, won’t these things still belong to Xin’er?”

Taoming Ye hurriedly said, ”It’s as it should be. Why would Míngyè be concerned? If I had more, I would have brought some more.”

Madam Huo nodded in satisfaction.

Su Xing, however, grew upset, ”Grandmother, why do you keep mentioning life and death, knowing full well I’m superstitious about it, yet you keep talking about it!”

Madam Huo quickly held Su Xing’s hand, gently patting it and soothing her, ”Grandmother knows you’re superstitious, but there are some things I wanted to say. Don’t be angry; Grandmother knows you’re filial and want me to live a long life, but now that you’re married, I have no more worries and can leave to join your grandfather, father, and mother anytime, and I feel at peace.”

”You’re getting more and more indiscreet!” Su Xing was even more upset. ”I still want Grandmother to help me take care of the children; you need to become an old goblin!”

The elderly Madam Huo’s eyes instantly brightened, and she looked delightedly at Su Xing’s belly, ”What, so soon?”

Su Xing immediately blushed, ”How could it be so soon? It’s only been a few days; even if I’m pregnant, I wouldn’t know yet!”

Madam Huo laughed heartily, ”Indeed, I’m so happy that I got confused, thinking you might have. But, I’ll surely become an old goblin so I can help you with the children, rest assured!”

Su Xing then laughed and was no longer angry. She turned to look at Taoming Ye, only to see him gazing at her lovingly, with a smile on his face. Remembering what she just said, her face turned red again, and she quickly turned away, not looking at Taoming Ye anymore.

Taoming Ye’s gaze became even more tender. If his wife could really give him a son or daughter, his life would be worthwhile.

After staying at Huo Mansion for only two hours, Su Xing and Taoming Ye set out for Tao Mansion.

Su Xing did want to stay, but having just returned home and staying at her maternal family’s place wasn’t appropriate. Even if she wanted to, her grandmother wouldn’t allow it, afraid others might gossip.

Perhaps seeing Su Xing’s wish to stay, after getting on the carriage, Taoming Ye gently held her hand, ”Next time we come, I’ll stay with you for a few days.”

”Mm-hmm~” She immediately hugged Taoming Ye, ”Husband, you’re so good.”

Taoming Ye warmly hugged her back, chuckling, ”Only you feel I’m good.”

Su Xing immediately huffed, ”That’s because they lack vision!”

Taoming Ye hugged her tighter, truly touched by her words.

On the way back to Tao Mansion, due to the jostling, Taoming Ye became increasingly uncomfortable, his face turning pale as if near death. The carriage stopped several times, and as night fell, both Taoming Ye and Su Xing still hadn’t returned to the Tao family.

It wasn’t until the time of Xu that Taoming Ye and Su Xing finally returned to the Tao family.

The Young Servant from Taoming Ye’s courtyard rushed up to greet them upon their return, saying, ”Young Master, Young Mistress, Master sent people to ask several times why you hadn’t returned, and he’s very concerned.”

Su Xing promptly said, ”Go quickly and tell Master that the Young Master couldn’t bear the jostling and stopped multiple times on the way, causing the late return. Let Master not worry.”
