Chapter 2461: Chapter 2462: Return to Tianyun (28)

Saying so loudly that her husband is throwing a tantrum, if others hear it, they might really believe her husband is acting childishly.

Su Xing let out a cold laugh.

At this time, Mrs. Cao also came in, supported by two maidservants, one of whom was Manhe. Following Mrs. Cao was another maidservant, holding a bowl of medicine in her hands.

As soon as Taoming Ye saw Mrs. Cao enter, he struggled to sit up.

Su Xing quickly assisted Taoming Ye.

Mrs. Cao, looking particularly worried and kind, immediately advised, ”Your health is not good, it’s better if you stay lying down, no need to get up. As long as you can recover, it doesn’t matter if you don’t pay your respects to me.”

Su Xing let out another cold laugh in her heart. Appearing like a kind mother, who knows how many cruel things she has done behind the scenes.

Taoming Ye continued to lie on the bed without resisting.

Mrs. Cao approached, and a maidservant quickly moved a chair over for her to sit on, worriedly sighing: ”Ye’er, I heard from Manhe that you refuse to take medicine? How can this be? Even if not for yourself, you should consider me and your father. You know that your father and I have always been concerned about you, just hoping you can be as healthy as a normal person. Come, take your medicine.”

With that, Mrs. Cao took the medicine from the maidservant’s hands, looking as if she intended to personally feed Taoming Ye.

Taoming Ye smiled leisurely, ”Mother, it’s better I don’t take it. I’ve taken it for so many years, and it hasn’t helped. A lot of Silver Coin has been wasted; I don’t want this anymore.”

Mrs. Cao immediately glared fiercely at Su Xing: ”I heard that you let the maidservant you brought use Silver needle to test the medicine earlier. If I were poisoning it, how could Ye’er still be alive? I’ve always wanted the best for Ye’er, insisting on him taking medicine daily, no matter how expensive, just hoping he can recover soon. But you, right when entering, use Silver needle to test for poison, clearly intending not to let Ye’er take medicine. You’re hoping Ye’er dies sooner, aren’t you?!”

Su Xing replied with a smile, ”Using Silver needle to test the medicine doesn’t mean you poisoned it, mother. When Manhe brought the medicine earlier, I already said, I’m just being cautious. You wouldn’t poison the medicine, mother, but can’t guarantee others in the mansion wouldn’t do so. Some people may be jealous of my husband’s looks and want him dead. Besides, when I was a girl at my mother’s home, I tested almost every meal with Silver needle. It’s my habit; if you don’t believe it, you can have someone inquire at my mother’s home. However, mother, I clearly told Manhe, and she didn’t explain to you, letting you misunderstand. Is this not putting her master in her eyes? Or not putting me, the young mistress, in her eyes?”

Upon hearing this, Mrs. Cao turned and gave Manhe a fierce slap, ”Little wench, not clarifying things for me, causing me to misunderstand!”

”Mistress, spare me! Mistress, spare me!” Manhe quickly knelt, pleading continuously. In her heart, she was truly aggrieved; she had explained everything to Mrs. Cao, but now Mrs. Cao couldn’t win the argument and took it out on her.

”Get out!” Mrs. Cao told Manhe to leave, and Manhe quickly complied. Actually, this was Mrs. Cao’s way of protecting Manhe. Unless absolutely necessary, she would not discard the maidservant who had helped her with many misdeeds.

Su Xing saw that Mrs. Cao was protecting Manhe but didn’t speak to stop Manhe from leaving. The days ahead were still long; today she would let her off.
