Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2463: Chapter 2464: Return to Tianyun (30)

Mrs. Cao was so angry she almost spat out old blood, unable to laugh any longer, she put on a stern face and said, ”Rest assured, I will rectify everything for you soon, within ten days.”

Then, Mrs. Cao softened her tone, speaking earnestly, ”Xin’er, allowing Ye’er to marry you instead of Haier was a mistake on our part, so the master has promised to compensate you generously. However, by staying in the Tao family, you are now part of this family, and as a daughter-in-law, you should act accordingly.”

Su Xing exaggeratedly sighed: ”I wish I could be a daughter-in-law who can be easily manipulated, but due to my nature, I can’t. If you aren’t satisfied with me as a daughter-in-law, you can have Ming Ye divorce me right now. By the way, you’ve seen my temper—it’s quite bad. Once I’m sent back home, without my saying, you should know, I’ll pay a visit to the Duke’s Mansion.”

Taoming Ye stifled a laugh. He found his wife’s feisty demeanor amusingly endearing.

Mrs. Cao was furious, but she couldn’t do anything about Su Xing.

However, Mrs. Cao thought to herself that she couldn’t deal with this girl for now, but as this girl had just entered the family and they were in the wrong, she had leverage. After a year and a half, the leverage would no longer matter, because if you don’t make a fuss now, it means you agree with being transferred to your fiancé’s elder brother.

Thinking this, Mrs. Cao nodded inwardly; that’s right, dealing with this girl could wait for later! For now, she would bear it! After all, she had always endured!

Mrs. Cao smiled kindly again: ”Xin’er, don’t say such things, no matter how unruly you are, I wouldn’t compel Ye’er to divorce you. Besides, I’m not someone who harbors grudges, so in the future, you handle things yourself; however, as a mother, I advise you to confront the master less. In this family, the master is the most fond of Ye’er. Ye’er is your husband now, you must give him some face. Alright, if you don’t want to drink the medicine, don’t, but if your health worsens, you can always come to me, and I’ll have the doctor prescribe more medicine.”

”Thank you, Mother.” Taoming Ye slightly rose, signaling gratitude.

Su Xing feigned thanks too: ”Thank you, Mother, please take care.”

”No need to see me off, just take good care of Ming Ye. You’re his wife now, and he’ll rely on you for care in the future.”

”I understand, Mother.” Su Xing truly didn’t see her off and remained standing by the bed.

Mrs. Cao gritted her teeth and left.

As soon as Mrs. Cao exited this courtyard of Taoming Ye’s place, Hong Ye gleefully reported: ”Miss, she really left.”

Su Xing nodded to indicate she knew. Only after ensuring there were no outsiders in the room did Su Xing sit back on the bed, letting Taoming Ye hold her hand and tuck it under the blanket.

”My husband, tell me honestly, is your father genuinely fond of you?” Su Xing asked with particular seriousness.

Taoming Ye nodded, ”He’s just busy, unable to always watch over me, but whenever there’s something good, he thinks of giving me a share first. Take the intricate lantern under the window, originally a pair gifted by the Emperor to father at the Spring Festival. Father kept one for himself in his room and gave the other to me. This implies father has it sorted in his heart, and my second brother wouldn’t dare ask for it.”

Su Xing immediately smiled: ”Considering how well he treats you, in the future, I’ll avoid conflicts with him when possible.”
