Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2481: Chapter 2482: Return to Tianyun (48)

Ru Song continued, ”You know the young mistress cares about you, holding you in her hands for fear of dropping you, holding you in her mouth for fear of melting you. If she finds out that I’m letting you wear yourself out like this, she’ll definitely punish me! Young master, even if you don’t care whether I’m punished, you should at least take care of your own health. Don’t forget last time when you took a carriage ride, you ended up bedridden for several days!”

”Why so much nonsense!” Taoming Ye was a bit displeased, ”Just pack up when I tell you to!”

Seeing Taoming Ye like this, Ru Song knew that Taoming Ye was determined to go to the Huo Mansion. Helpless, he had no choice but to tell the maidservant to quickly come in and pack things, while he ordered the young servant to prepare the carriage.

Seeing Ru Song come in again, Taoming Ye asked, ”Is Father resting at home today and not out?”

Ru Song immediately replied, ”No, he’s at home.”

Only then did Taoming Ye get out of bed and walk outside. Ru Song quickly followed.

Taoming Ye went to the main courtyard where Tao Chengyin lived. Taoming Ye was not in the main room, but in the study, so Taoming Ye went to the study to find Tao Chengyin, and because he had walked quite a bit, Taoming Ye started coughing a bit again.

Seeing his son come to find him, Tao Chengyin was initially quite pleased, but when he saw Taoming Ye coughing, Tao Chengyin instantly pulled a long face and reproached him, ”You could have sent someone to tell me if you had something to say. Why bother yourself to come personally?”

Taoming Ye said respectfully with a hint of apology, ”It’s just that I and Xin’er plan to stay at Xin’er’s maternal home for a short while, so I wanted to personally inform you, Father.”

Tao Chengyin disagreed, ”Why go to her maternal home for no reason? Besides, your body can’t handle such exertion. Last time you accompanied her back, you were bedridden for so many days. Isn’t that suffering enough?”

”Xin’er only has one elderly grandmother at her maternal home, who knows how many years she has left, so I had this thought,” Taoming Ye replied.

Tao Chengyin softened his tone, ”It’s her filial duty, and it’s right to do so. But Ye’er, you should talk to your wife. Lately, she’s been going out frequently. I’ve heard from the servants that she’s been visiting her maternal home. Constantly running back to her natal home is not proper. As the saying goes, ’a married daughter is like spilled water,’ she’s part of our family now, she shouldn’t have her entire heart set on her natal home.”

Taoming Ye didn’t mention that Su Xing was going to her maternal home to prepare for the military examination. Instead, he showed a teachable attitude and good temperament by nodding, ”Father, I will talk to her.”

Tao Chengyin, however, didn’t believe him one bit, snorting, ”Do you think I just asked you to speak to her today? I’ve mentioned it before, but did you listen? Did you really? Fine, considering she truly cares for you, let her be.”

”Thank you, Father.” Taoming Ye thanked sincerely.

Tao Chengyin looked at Taoming Ye, whose face was pale, sighed, and said, ”Whether when you’re going or when you’re coming back, if the journey gets too rough, take more breaks along the way. It will be more bearable, don’t force yourself.”

”Yes.” Taoming Ye obediently replied. He understood well how his father treated him.

After returning to his own courtyard from Tao Chengyin’s, Taoming Ye rested for a good while before getting up again, going out, and boarding the carriage with the luggage of himself and Su Xing, headed to the Huo family.

Considering his health, they took many breaks along the way. It wasn’t until dusk that Taoming Ye’s carriage arrived at the gate of the Huo family’s residence.

Yet, Taoming Ye didn’t want the servants of the Huo family to tell Su Xing that he had arrived. He wanted to give Su Xing a surprise.
