Chapter 2452: Chapter 2453: Return to Tianyun (19)

Hong Ye mumbled quietly: ”Miss, you are so shameless!”

Su Xing chuckled: ”What do you mean? He’s my husband, why shouldn’t I think he’s great?”

Hong Ye ignored Su Xing and, along with the other maidservants, went to make the bed. When she discovered the bloodstain on the sheets, her face turned red.

Su Xing saw Hong Ye’s blush and knew what she had seen. She walked over to Taoming Ye with a smile, lowered her voice, and laughed: ”If I had known, I wouldn’t have bitten my finger.”

Taoming Ye just looked at her with a gentle smile, which made Su Xing feel a bit flushed.

Once they were ready, the couple headed over to Tao Chengyin and Mrs. Cao’s residence.

Today was the day for Su Xing, the new bride, to serve tea to her in-laws. Not only were Tao Chengyin and Mrs. Cao there, but also several of Tao Chengyin’s concubines, as well as Taoming Ye’s brothers and sisters.

Taoming Ye’s mother was initially just Tao Chengyin’s personal maidservant, but due to spending day and night together, they developed a deep connection. Tao Chengyin wanted to marry her, but his mother opposed it, believing that Taoming Ye’s mother was just a maidservant and unworthy of Tao Chengyin. Afraid to go against his mother’s wishes, Tao Chengyin made her a concubine, later marrying Mrs. Cao as his official wife. When Mrs. Cao joined the Tao family, Taoming Ye’s mother became pregnant and gave birth to a son, Taoming Ye, making him Tao Chengyin’s legitimate eldest son.

Tao Chengyin had no real affection for Mrs. Cao; he married her primarily because of their matching social status. However, Taoming Ye was his firstborn and the child of someone he truly loved, so Tao Chengyin always treated Taoming Ye well.

When Taoming Ye and Su Xing entered, and seeing Taoming Ye’s pale face, Tao Chengyin asked with concern: ”Ye’er, are you feeling unwell again? Why is your face so pale?”

All of Tao Chengyin’s other children present, especially the legitimate son, Taoming Hai, felt very uncomfortable seeing Tao Chengyin so concerned about Taoming Ye.

Taoming Ye smiled gently and said: ”Father, don’t worry. I just overexerted myself yesterday. It’s nothing serious.”

Tao Chengyin said: ”If you’re tired, there’s no need for you to come today.”

Taoming Ye replied: ”Today is the day my wife is to serve tea to father and mother, so as a couple, we should both be here. How could I not come?”

Tao Chengyin said nothing. He had never wanted his son to marry Huo Xiner. She wasn’t a proper match for his son. Even though his son wasn’t in good health, he still had a father in an official position.

However, no other women of status were willing to marry his son for fear of becoming a widow, and his second son’s marriage to Huo Xiner couldn’t be called off. Moreover, his second son had fallen for the youngest daughter of Lord Wan...

The daughter of a marquis! For his family, this was a prestigious match, adding to their reputation and face.

So, when Mrs. Cao and his second son, Taoming Hai, suggested letting his eldest son marry Huo Xiner, and the second son marry the marquis’s youngest daughter in the future, even though he felt it unfair to his eldest son, he agreed.

Taoming Ye understood his father’s reasoning for marrying him to Huo Xiner, but he didn’t show any of his thoughts.

Su Xing understood as well, but even though she accepted Taoming Ye as her husband, she still planned to settle this score with Tao Chengyin and the others.

So when two maidservants each placed a cushion in front of Tao Chengyin and Mrs. Cao for Taoming Ye and Su Xing to kneel and serve tea, Taoming Ye knelt, but Su Xing did not.
