Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2475: Chapter 2476: Return to Tianyun (42)

Tao Mingsheng said, ”Although we’re not born of the same mother, big brother is big brother. He always lets us have our way in everything. We just keep him company and have a chat. It’s not really a big deal.”

Tao Mingxiang and the others all chimed in agreement.

”However...” Tao Mingsheng sounded a bit worried, ”Elder sister-in-law has completely offended mother this time. If second brother were to become the Martial Champion, mother’s stance will be even stronger. We’re worried that elder sister-in-law might face retribution from mother later.”

Tao Mingfang echoed continuously, ”Yes, yes, elder sister-in-law. You are a wise person, and quite formidable. We don’t dare to speak insincerely or deceitfully before you. Second brother and mother breathe from the same nostril (share the same views), and they don’t regard us with any importance, especially towards big brother, because big brother is the legitimate eldest son and particularly oppressed. If second brother were to become the Martial Champion, elder sister-in-law, your life will not be easy.”

Tao Mingxiang also added, ”Currently, second brother and mother are wary of confronting you, but over time, even if they wrongfully shift you onto big brother, since you’ve lived at the Tao Mansion for so long, the Emperor would assume you did it willingly and not cause trouble initially. By the time you do, your actions would be futile.”

Tao Ming Qing, gentle and refined, spoke slowly and calmly, ”If father agrees, it would be better to split the family. Big brother and elder sister-in-law can live separately. Then, regardless of what mother and second brother do, it will be hard for them to bully big brother and elder sister-in-law.”

All four spoke about Mrs. Cao and Taoming Hai’s wrongdoings without uttering a word against Tao Chengyin, suggesting that in this household, the worst are Mrs. Cao and Taoming Hai, while Tao Chengyin has been a rather competent father.

Not sure if they heard their siblings’ concerns, Taoming Ye also looked at Su Xing with a worried expression.

However, Su Xing could discern that Taoming Ye was worried not for himself but for her.

This greatly moved Su Xing.

She instinctively tightened her grip on Taoming Ye’s hand beneath the table and cheerfully smiled at Tao Mingsheng and the others, ”He hasn’t even become the Martial Champion yet, and you’re already worrying about it? Wait until he becomes the Martial Champion to worry. Besides, I’m planning to participate in the martial arts exam.”

She only found out recently that Taoming Hai planned to take the exam for Martial Champion, and she decided to pursue her ambitions through the ’martial arts exam’, aiming for a high official position, which would make it easier to reunite with her parents.

Tao Mingsheng was immediately shocked, ”Elder sister-in-law, you also want to take the martial arts exam?!”

Tao Mingxiang was equally surprised and indeed praised her, ”General Du Aya and General Li Wuyu, weren’t they both women? Elder sister-in-law, I support you! Take the martial arts exam! It’s best if you snatch second brother’s title and become the Martial Champion!”

Tao Mingfang, fragile yet unlike her fourth sister, didn’t agree, ”Elder sister-in-law, the martial arts exam is tough, mostly taken by men, and no woman has ever participated, you shouldn’t take it.”

Tao Ming Qing smiled and said, ”It’s admirable that elder sister-in-law has this ambition, but she should also consider her capabilities.”

Taoming Ye merely gazed at Su Xing tenderly and asked softly, ”Have you made up your mind?”

Su Xing immediately nodded and said, ”Yes, I’ve made up my mind! Husband, you’ll support me, won’t you?”

Taoming Ye nodded, ”Whatever you choose to do, I will support you.”

Su Xing instantly became cheerful, then turned to Tao Mingsheng and the others, saying, ”Third brother, fifth brother, sixth sister, don’t look down on me. I am a general’s daughter, trained in martial arts by my father since childhood, and naturally strong. Even if I don’t become the Martial Champion, I surely won’t fail in the preliminary round so disgracefully.”
