Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1247: Chapter 1038: The Two Who Reached a Consensus

Soma looked confusedly at the suddenly battle-ready Undead Tribe beside him, his furry head involuntarily tilted, earning a head pat from the ’Perfect Bald’ who jumped up after retrieving his companion and stood beside him.

”Hmm?” Soma wasn’t angry... the adopted tiger-man, who was cute, had long become accustomed to this unconscious head-patting gesture from humans.

Especially since this Undead was the adopter of a fellow Beast Kin’s descendant.

’Perfect Bald’ chuckled and said: ”Tyson asked me to tell you that although he’s still struggling to understand many things, his soul can feel that you are his kin.

At least there’s one thing that makes him a bit happy: you are alive, and so is he.”

Soma blinked his round eyes gently and revealed a heartfelt smile: ”Ah! Being alive is a kind of fortune.

Moreover... sometimes, a soul without a place to rest is better than heavy confinement.”

Take their kind, the Beastmen, for instance... unless there is powerful Divine Power willing to oppose the pressure from Gewoosh for them, their souls after death would have to fight in the Shura Field for Gewoosh until they completely dissipate.

The twin ponytail girl glanced up at the Snow Old Dog who had just sent him a message, ’Snow Cloud Peak’ nodded slightly.

The tiger-man did not notice the silent exchange among the Undead Tribe; although his senses were sharp, the day’s events had thrown him into some confusion, dulling his perception of everything external.

Soma had many things he hadn’t voiced... indeed, Beast Kin can reproduce, but even if they intermarried among themselves, generation after generation, the Soul Mark from the Orc Clan would thin out.

For their Orc Clan’s bloodline Soul Mark to perpetuate like this, the other side’s bloodline level must be quite high, possibly even a pure Earth Bloodline.

Beastmen always believed that the earth and mountains belonged to them: gaining territory and living space is Gewoosh’s greatest driving force, which he imparted to the Beastmen he created.

And Gewoosh’s wife, Ruseko, is a Goddess with a strong connection to the earth; the existence of Beast Kin is often seen as a curse from this Goddess.

Anyway... she’s not the only Godly System Matron who doesn’t get along with her husband.

Though Soma wasn’t very bright, he could perceive from the Undead Tribe and Tyson and that fox’s performance, there are many Beast Kin living and thriving in Teraxil, and they can even awaken after a few generations... that world must have a very rich Earth Elemental Energy.

The tiger-man sat quietly on the bench, resolving: even if Devis asks, he absolutely won’t voice his guesses.

A world rich in Earth Elemental Energy, he knew well what that meant... a land full of ores and a lot of Energy Mines.

The Mage from Toril, like Devis, were considered kind already... but once they learn of a world so rich in resources, interworld invasion would be the only thing they’d think of.

The Undead Tribe, no matter how powerful, can’t curb their greed... aren’t there some underhanded tactics to approach things sideways?

Twisted ways, the Mages of Toril knew best!

No matter how invincible the Deities and local power of Teraxil might be, Soma would not be the one to steer things in that direction.

For their already ruined tribe, perhaps... apart from the Beast Kin of Teraxil, no other bloodline could be passed on.

Soma patted his own leg gently; having left the Barbarian life for so long, even if he wanted to find a tigress, it was no longer possible... what he wanted was a tiger-man partner who knew how to survive in human society, not a kitchen drudge who only knew how to cook.

Gewoosh’s oppression of female Beastmen is too harsh, and Ruseko... within her Divinity, there indeed are female Beastmen, but relatively speaking, it’s enslavement.

The women of Kalinsan were enslaved to the extreme, creating the powerful Ancient Night Temple... surrounding countries nearly got destroyed by those women burning with the fire of revenge.

But if female Beastmen dared to do the same... it would only lead to a dual destructive blow from the Chief Orc God and the Orc Mother Goddess.

Soma didn’t have the courage to defy Gewoosh’s will, but as a tiger-man who grew up beside a Mage, he also didn’t want his actions to aid Gewoosh... the Chief Orc God must be coveting Teraxil, so sending those failed experiments to that world!

But regardless of the reason or purpose, as seen from the state of the Undead Tribe, Gewoosh, so far, hasn’t gained anything!

Soma lifted his head, looking at the Teraxil Elves around who certainly weren’t Elves... their attitude towards Beastmen was something even the most cunning Zholar couldn’t achieve... deciding to bury all his conjectures about that world deep in his heart.

As long as he doesn’t speak, even Gewoosh can’t pin it on him!

Hill looked at that tiger-man, quietly taking out paper and pen, starting to slowly search through his not-so-keen memories... especially from before the White Wolf King unified the Magical Beast, to the destruction of the White Wolf Kingdom, and the various distribution forms of the Magical Beasts.

He also recalled a few details... Merkel once said, his ancestors didn’t want to follow that White Wolf King, but had no choice.

But Teraxil is so vast... where could a mountain-climbing, sea-diving leopard not hide?

At that time, Hill simply smiled without saying a word. It was because he believed Merkel’s ancestors once had ambitions, but after losing the struggle for the throne with the White Wolf King, they took an oath of loyalty. No matter how unwilling, they had no choice but to be obedient.

But if... he was actually from the Phantom Leopard Clan, then it might be a completely different story.

Hill bowed his head, slowly drawing lines bit by bit... During the legendary phase, Merkel had no real flaws. Initially, he was just unwilling to accept the Wolf Tribe’s resurgence.

Back then, his eyes were filled with love for Alice... and the surprise of seeing the princess willing to put aside her lavish attire and share hardships with him.

It was impossible for Hill not to sense his sincerity; otherwise, he wouldn’t have had a fairly good attitude towards that leopard.

Although the relationship between Alice and Hill... was indeed not as close as with Agleya.

These two daughters, although both adopted... But one developed her own personality and temperament, with her views on life and the world already shaped before being adopted. Even with a close relationship, there was inevitably some distance... Most typically, Hill, being the person he is, would not impose anything on Alice.

Whereas the other, Agleya, was raised from infancy with great care, despite having a different temperament, she shares the same views with Hill... Naturally, the bond between father and daughter is closer.

Hill sighed silently. If it were Agleya, if Hill disapproved of the man she liked, she might be upset but would likely give him up.

Agleya always unconditionally believed everything he did was for her good.

But Alice would definitely insist on asking why, then use various methods to try to persuade Hill that she was right... Just like when Hill told her how troublesome it would be to be a queen of the Demon Beast King, even possibly becoming an enemy of humans in the future... She still believed it was no problem, especially since Merkel had made such a sincere vow.

Only that cat truly believed Hill’s approach was correct, which is why she complied... but the hurt she endured was inevitable.

Hill’s temperament is gentle, but he’s never been the kind of enthusiastic, altruistic person willing to dedicate himself to others.

Moreover, he is a mage, and has always believed that although others can offer advice about his life, they cannot decide for him.

The pen on the paper paused for a few seconds before Hill meticulously continued to record everything suspicious stored in his memory... Even the slightest connection must not be overlooked.

At this point, regrets were useless.

Devis looked thoughtfully at his Tiger Guardsman, almost imperceptibly sighed... Fortunately, that face was covered in fur, otherwise the resolute and righteous expression change would have been obvious to anyone.

At least the Undead Tribe member nicknamed Old Dog would definitely notice.

Devis did notice the exchanged glances among a few members of the Undead Tribe... It wasn’t just that ’Perfect Bald,’ there were several who stood aside scrutinizing Soma.

Alas!

He slowly walked to ’Snow Cloud Peak’ and naturally said, ”Soma cherishes his remaining family. If Mr. Terry’s mood improves, I hope he can spend more time visiting Soma.

As for me... I only care about Soma’s happiness, never concerning myself with other matters.”

’Snow Cloud Peak’ chuckled: ”Of course, I’ll have a good talk with Baldy.

But you don’t need to worry; Coron is very familiar with the beacons leading to us, so even if we return to Teraxil, you can find the elves’ exclusive dimensional portal to visit our world.”

His eyebrows slightly lifted: ”Speaking of which, the first divine envoy from another world we encountered was a Wax Melt Demon!

What an... incredible creature, isn’t it?”

Devis nodded with a smile: ”It seems, whether righteous or evil, the Siderean Godly System is quite familiar with Teraxil!”

”And the Dwarves too!” spoke up ’Hard Wind,’ who had come over at some point. ”Though they were mostly the underground world’s kind, it took a lot of effort to completely settle them.”

”Settle them?” Devis asked sensitively. ”Are you talking about the forge the dwarves liked to use for interstellar travel?

Ah, that explains why you’re so interested in the Dilo Dwarves of the Underdark.”

”Yeah... The Gray Dwarves were annihilated, so it’s okay if they cause trouble again,” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ said with a grin. ”As for the Dilo Dwarves, they naturally have to face the consequences of their Chief Deity’s actions.

But as the saying goes, heaven will deal with the wicked; didn’t Dilinca even lose their divine artifact?”

Devis gently nodded: ”Indeed, it’s best to not overstep when dealing with people and situations.”
