Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1225: Chapter 1016: Tampas’s Whimsical Ideas

Hill silently nodded, covering his head, and desperately thinking. Those materials purchased from the Icewind Valley, did he disassemble any flowers, plants, or trees into pieces... The Nyscroll was disguised as some kind of golden thicket in Windsong Tower.

But that scroll is golden!

He was careful, he didn’t keep anything golden!

”List,” Hill said slowly, lifting his head, ”Find the black metal fragments and brown wooden residue first.”

”There are quite a few,” List cautiously said, ”Many battle remnants in the Icewind Valley, last time you yourself brought a lot over. Later, after we dealt with the half-orcs, barbarian caravans also brought many to exchange for food. After all, maybe only you on the Ferun Great Land... want anything related.”

Hill covered his face with his hands, his tone melancholy: ”Let’s look at those I took home first. Things sold by others are somewhat special.

Even if nothing special, bought as fool’s errand, only I that time...”

List commanded the puppet’s hand to pause, and couldn’t help saying: ”Sir, when you buy things in the future, can you sift through them?

If we hadn’t bought it all back then, this wouldn’t be happening today!”

”But those things together didn’t even reach 1000 Gold Coins,” Hill said helplessly, ”Do you want me to spend hours picking through such cheap things?

My time is much more valuable than that!”

”Watch less excitement for two days, any time is enough,” List whispered softly, his voice echoing throughout the Floating Castle, heard by people and deities alike.

Celene said with a nonchalant look: ”Hill truly is noble-born!”

Hill smiled confusedly... then reacted to Celene’s words; she was talking about List, who was very much like a standard noble steward... who watched the young master grow.

Although he never opposes the master’s opinions, he likes to use insinuations to let the master understand his dissatisfaction.

In some ways, it is not much different from a mother who has objections but doesn’t want to say them outright, and must let you realize the foolish things you’ve done yourself.

Marsha soon arrived at the Floating Castle with several puppets carrying boxes.

Upon learning from List what Hill was searching for, Marsha even diligently turned over the broken wood used as warehouse supports.

As the Tower Spirit closely connected with Hill, she undoubtedly understood that Hill definitely wouldn’t want to leave taking with him any of Toril’s Divine Artifacts.

This, after all, differs from precious materials; it contains Toril’s Law power. Who can ascertain its value?

Even though Hill invested a lot of money and resources in Toril, in some ways, he provided many civilians with the capital to live... Good deeds, this stuff is recognized in every world.

But taking a world’s Divine Artifact, especially something like the Nyscroll, might get pulled back the instant it flies out from the bounds of the Toril Universe, carrying debts!

You see, Mystra holds part of the Nyscroll, Black Eye and Azuth have amended some Weave-related knowledge, and her Chosen ones have all seen the scroll content.

However, for the Magic Elector, the Nyscroll isn’t that useful.

Though Elaströ showed great interest in Myst-Zhunuo’s part of the Nyscroll, it is because this Archmage craves knowledge even if it’s not highly useful; she still wants to see.

Judging by how her Electors never pursued the Nyscroll madly like the Princes of Shade Soul City, it shows that the scroll’s purpose isn’t significant for Weave Mages.

Otherwise, could Shade Soul City truly rival Mystra’s Electors who can contend with Deities’ incarnations?

If they possessed such skill, they wouldn’t act so sneaky.

List and Marsha didn’t choose swift departure this time but earnestly directed the puppets to work.

Hill leaned against the chair, watching the busy puppets sorting things with a hint of daze... Did he really purchase that much?

”Ah~ the Red Knight has appeared,” Lansendel suddenly exclaimed.

Hill couldn’t help looking up, ahead of the battlefield, directly opposite Yinafu, stood the Female Knight he once saw, though greatly changed... enveloped in blood-red full-body armor, with long black braids cascading down her back.

Her eyes glimmer, just like the legend says, resembling changing starry gemstones.

Riding a red phantom warhorse twice the normal size, accompanied by a red war dog also twice the normal size by her side.

Lansendel’s wings flapped speedily: ”Wait, the barbarian to the Red Knight’s left back, surrounded by beasts! That’s Usga!

The two children of Tampas have surprisingly appeared just as the fight began!

Tsk, these beastmen are finished.

Forget Usga, the Red Knight... If Tampas isn’t confident enough, he wouldn’t send his youngest daughter down to get killed.”

”The numerical difference is significant... Those who can join the defense at the Ten Towns of Icewind hardly add up to twenty thousand, right?” Shaer even couldn’t help feeling puzzled.

However, their queries soon got answered.

Lynn suddenly rushed over: ”Hill! Tampas is in Luskan! He went to the Undead Tribe’s Alchemy Hall! Planning to hire the Undead Tribe to protect the Icewind Ten Towns!

Moreover, he offered a shipping fee to the White Dragon!”

Silence enveloped the Floating Castle.

How to put it... quite unexpected, but thinking it’s Tampas, it’s somewhat... ah, understandable.

It’s not unusual for Tampas to not let the Red Knight do the hiring, but to step in personally.

Aside from allowing the Red Knight to achieve fame... even if the Undead Tribe is hired, as long as the commander is the Red Knight, then the Divine Power of this strategy goddess will also increase greatly.

In Toril, deities related to war must prove their strength through war.

As for strategy... no matter how perfect the strategy is, in this ghostly place of Toril, it may hurt less than the sudden outburst of a powerful individual.

So, even though everyone knows Cyric is a madman, his Divine Power keeps growing stronger.

When even the powerful Goddess of Magic was assassinated by this Prince of Lies, even in the very safe territory of Agleya, even knowing Cyric’s appearance would only bring terror, Hill would hear someone mutter a hope for Cyric’s power before going hunting.

The people of Toril are always so realistic.

The news reached Deepwater City quickly too.

After all, whether William is willing to take the task is still under consideration... but ’Snow Cloud Peak’ must return to Hidden Town immediately.

When the Undead Tribe shouted out this Swordsman, the few troops watching the fun at Icewind Valley fell silent instantly.

After fighting Tampas for so many years, Karagos, accustomed to that War God’s usual ’vibrant, lively’ style, was the first to react.

He roared, turning to look at the pink clouds: ”You! Going to help Tampas?”

”Knight! Shield Wall” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ shouted in time, prompting the knights to barely catch a rapidly spinning sword orb thrown by Karagos.

However, ’Hard Wind’, leading the charge, had no choice but to return to the city automatically.

’Snow Cloud Peak’ buffed himself up a bit and quickly stood among the Swordsmen.

He tilted his head and instructed ’Old Age Striking King’: ”The two families will be left to you for now.

No matter what decision William makes, I’ll go back and have another look.”

”Wait! Leonard, don’t take action yet!” Snow Old Dog said hastily, ”Let him send me back first!”

Before the next sword orb flew in, the White Robe Mage was still carefully instructing: ”If Edna wants to go to Icewind Valley, it’s fine, there are so many White Dragons on your side!

But absolutely do not take Cyric’s people there!

That Manks! Absolutely do not bring her... she... damn it!”

”So, what’s the point of a mage who doesn’t enhance endurance?” ’Old Age Striking King’ said calmly as he watched Snow Old Dog, with a row of buffs, still get instantly killed.

Then she turned and asked: ”Edna, do you want to go to Icewind Valley?”

Edna looked fixedly at the huge screen: ”The few Shadow Soul Princes standing there are going for the Nyscroll, right?

Perhaps I really should go take a look.”

Devis frowned slightly, actually not unwilling to look, but ’Snow Cloud Peak’ specifically mentioning Manks made him a bit worried... how could someone only at the Third Ring not go looking?

Especially since, with the Undead Tribe taking action, this assault on the Ten Towns of Icewind can basically be doomed to failure!

They are indeed quite interested in that Mist’s return journey, but they only plan to observe and follow, not wanting to set out together.

It’s enough to meet the Goddess of Magic and leave a good impression... it will make future Weave communications a bit easier.

But he didn’t have ambitions as grand as Kelben’s!

Growing more worried, Devis couldn’t help but speak up: ”Azuth always said the Nyscroll wasn’t much related to Weave Mages, there’s actually a part with Mystra, but it’s of no use to mortals, and even the Electors need deities’ help to see it all.

When the Nyscroll had not yet had problems, even Elminster couldn’t read it all.”

Edna slightly raised her chin, a small smile appearing as she looked at the quickly changing expression of Manske: ”50 pages per set, leveling up one page read, but that’s dreaming.

Only a god or madman reads it all; though Elminster’s mental resistance is strong, the Nyscroll... only a deity very proficient in magic can read it all.

Mystra indeed had it and even revised it, but that was just knowledge related to the Weave.

The set the Shadow Soul Mages are looking for is different,

Devis, I’m different from you all, I study not just Weave Magic.

Besides, I’m already at the Eighth Ring!

There’s nothing wrong with taking a look outside the Weave.

It’s not necessary to use it, but one must not be ignorant of it.

Ah, even if Mystra reopens the Weave, I might still go beyond Toril for a look, right?

I’m not an Elector.”
