Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1216: Chapter 1007: A Battle Entering a Stalemate

The confusion of Kelben remained unknown, but how wealthy Agleya was, the evil mages deeply understood.

What, given to Laila by Kelben?

Tsk, after being old rivals for so long, who doesn’t know whom?

Before leaving Kelben, Laila could bear using three magic wands in one go, only when she knew that there would surely be enough war spoils to compensate her consumption.

Otherwise, this arcanist would transform herself and charge directly… Each of the Northern Seven Sisters, including Elaströ, has an advanced transmutation spell.

After all, giving oneself a bunch of strength, endurance, and even health and mana recovery buffs costs nothing for the magic electors.

The Red Robes looked at each other, then recalled that horrifying alignment detection array, and couldn’t help but sigh.

When passing by Luskan, they certainly tried to probe… No one dared to go to Agleya for sure.

But even in Luskan, there was no dead corner for them to exploit.

Generally, in these prosperous cities of Toril, there are hidden entrances approved by the city lords and nobles… Though almost public secrets, officially, they are ‘not supposed to exist’ things.

Alas, with transcendences in Toril, some things are best covered with a fig leaf, at least for when a hero jumps out on a whim to vanquish evil, one could say, ‘It was all my stupidity, being deceived by subordinates.’

But Luskan truly has none.

The Red Robes also heard that the basic magic arrays in Agleya’s cities were all operated by Lord Hill single-handedly… So they could only curse as they came directly to Icewind Valley.

Who knows, there would be a day in Toril encountering a real good person uninterested in dirty money!

Sigh, even the city where Tyr’s Righteous Knight Corps is headquartered has a few tunnels for them to use! Blame those guys for not being in power themselves?

However, at this point, the Red Robes suddenly realized, could it be that these elves from Teraxil lack nothing but money?

In a place where even ordinary elves could easily come up with millions of gold coins, how could someone as powerful as the Lord of Agleya… not being a dragon’s avatar, stoop to pick up these dirty coins?

“I… but they allowed the White Dragon to settle.” A younger lich suddenly spoke, “Could it be in the eyes of that Lord of Agleya, we are less than the White Dragon?”

“That’s because the White Dragon, as long as it has enough food, is more obedient than a dog!” The chief Arcane Lich said coldly, “Can you… not grab benefits when you see them, stay quiet and obedient?”

The Baldies fell silent; they couldn’t do it even when they were alive, let alone now as cold skeletons.

“But… it’s impossible to snatch.” A voice whispered hesitantly.

If they really had that capability, they wouldn’t choose to bypass Luskan.

Even if they pin Laila here, it would be useless… The defense of that city does not rely on Mystra’s power!

Tsk!

A life where merely fantasizing is a luxury, how long has it been since they became liches?

Damn Sazzastan!

Eventually, they would fight back and let that guy roll down to the Styx and get intimate with Bane!

The Red Robe mages couldn’t help but retreat a bit further, which drew Nasray’s surprised glance back.

The Purple-Robed Dragon Lich felt somewhat puzzled: Although Elaströ and Laila were showing to be stronger than he had imagined, he wasn’t displaying weakness! He hadn’t even transformed into his dragon form yet!

He was just a bit unaccustomed to close combat, better off dragging the enemy in the Dead Magic Zone until their resources ran dry.

The Red Robes couldn’t possibly be unaware he had undisclosed allies.

Why did they show an unwillingness to intervene?

Weren’t they very interested in the Sorcerer’s Royal Scepter?

“Dragging time is getting on my nerves.” Selene said languidly from the Floating Castle, “Why do I feel both sides are scheming!

Sheesh, can’t they join forces? Why do they have to come one by one?”

“On the evil faction’s side… probably scheming too much, waiting for these electors to slip up, afraid of contributing more than others.” Lansendel yawned, “As for Mystra’s electors, they might worry that Kelben’s act of exploiting the Tablets of Fate loophole will be tallied up, so they dare not use all their trump cards at once.

If Kelben can’t be saved, so be it, it’s his own doing.

But if they have to lose one, none would want it.

Even the most loyal to Mystra, Numia, wouldn’t want to just die like that!

And why, among the seven sisters aside from Kui Lu being Zholar, only Hillen hasn’t shown up… Shadow Valley doesn’t need them guarding.

Being resurrected by the Goddess of Magic once means being bound tighter to the Weave… I don’t believe you can’t guess why Midnight so trusts Kelben.”

Hill was silent, of course he knew: only Kelben, this is his third resurrection.

Moreover, there may be a fourth time.

This guy becomes increasingly crazy after knowing his destiny, also because he knows that his future is basically no longer in his hands… After being resurrected twice, he’s already on the tablets. If he’s resurrected a few more times, won’t he become a fixed NPC?

Hill couldn’t help but sneer, fortunately, in this world, there is no saying that a mentally ill murderer can be released without charges.

The battle in Deepwater City is increasingly leaning towards Mystra’s Chosen… Numia worked hard for half a day and finally released the Mist of Mistral in the round hall.

The other Chosen weren’t unwilling to use it, but the Mist of Mistral requires a long preparation time, and its release also requires significant chanting… Elaströ can do it so easily because Mystra often used this spell when attached to her.

The others, including Mystra’s chief priest… Preaching Mage, found it not so easy, although she indeed had the shortest chant time, since many praises could be directly omitted.

Under the almost reckless interception of the other three Chosen, Numia succeeded.

The Chosen instantly rejuvenated, and both Dove and Storm buffed themselves heavily and charged directly at the enemy in front of them.

Xinbu almost laughed wildly as she started throwing ice cones everywhere… She knew where Talos was, and though storm and lightning could injure Karagos, they could also easily be utilized by the Storm God, who was agile and flying everywhere.

Better to directly toss sharp and long ice cones; with enough quantity, damage increases too.

Observers in Deepwater City have begun to retreat… These are people with somewhat awkward statuses, like a certain short ambassador.

As one representative of public poisoning, he still doesn’t quite trust Xinbu’s control.

Other messengers and noble merchants, including a certain masked Lord who likes selling poison, also quietly left.

The overly obvious guilty conscience of the thieves made people deeply understand how much Kelben is hated.

On the pink cloud where the Undead Tribe resides, the ‘Old Age Striking King’ brought out the Dawn Stone, dispersing the surrounding blue mist.

At the same time, she also took out that Jade Holy Scripture… The High Knowledge Stone sensed the divine power mixed with the Lord of Dawn and Coron on this Teraxil Elf and was willing to be her automatic encyclopedia of Toril.

The Striking King simply needed to report the name of what she wanted to know.

Gendilarei glanced, with some emotion, saying, “Tsk tsk, my lord really… is willing to sacrifice anything for fun!”

The ‘Old Age Striking King’ gave him a look, “Lansendel said I was lucky and might have the chance to complete this book.

The ordeal might be troublesome, but the rewards are so rich I can’t refuse.”

Edna couldn’t help but show a meaningfully vague smile… The Striking King’s luck is probably a bit bewildering.

Still, if any Undead Tribe were to stay close during this Path of Destiny, it would only be the Striking King concerned for her safety.

So… Lansendel, that bastard, gambled on her Edna’s luck.

Then by issuing tasks, just a gemstone bought her goodwill.

Watching the ‘Old Age Striking King’ satisfied with the mission rewards, what could Edna say?

She could only console herself, reckoning the total tab with that guy slowly later… Lansendel, who loves stirring things up, is bound to have opportunities for him to repay!

“Who are they waiting for?” asked Devis, craning his head to look at the tablet.

“Isn’t everyone from the Evil Faction here?” Devis looked at Nasir sitting opposite him and chuckled, “Though some haven’t entered the field and chose to watch the fun, aren’t they all pretty much present?

Humans, Zholar, Giants, Evil Dragons, who else?”

“You can’t underestimate minority groups!” Luca retorted, “Not to mention that hidden Goblin Chief God, and the Dwarves and Beastmen haven’t entered the fray yet!

All have come to Icewind Valley, at least the Beastmen are bound to come out, right?”

Nasir turned his head, “Goblins are unlikely; Bane clearly values Sel more, and Magnubiyeh would never willingly appear before the Undead Tribe.”

Those who heard simultaneously thought of the stories Cyric fabricated and spread across the world through Celene.

Previously, people wondered why Celene was the first to know Cyric’s nonsense, but now… besides Shaer at the Floating Castle, Lansendel is there too!

Such an uncanny gathering could appear… if Cyric was over there chatting, none would feel it’s strange.

“Hmm?” Mentioning Magnubiyeh, Luca couldn’t help but glance at those seated below, “That Dark Day Priest is gone.

Only Manks and Jai remain.”

“Why isn’t Jai worried Xinbu will attack him?” Devis asked Nasir earnestly.

“Kelben…” Nasir said blandly, “One reason he broke up with the Harpist was his connections with the Santarin Meeting.

Thus, if Bane’s followers openly appear in Deepwater City, there must be a new agreement between both sides.

Though Xinbu is hot-tempered, she would still respect colleagues.”
