Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1223: Chapter 1014: The Enemy’s Diversionary Tactics

Just as Laila’s overwhelming sadness started to ripple, it was completely transformed into anger by Nasray’s roar, ”No! Damn Kelben! Of all times, why did he choose to die now?”

Even if Kelben was bad, could he, the one who created the Dragon Worship Church, say and criticize?

For Samast’s matter, Elaströ always felt guilty, so she and her sisters only defended passively and did not choose to retaliate actively.

But Nasray was someone they tried to kill as soon as he appeared!

Wasn’t it because Samast knew he was doomed that he resurrected this guy?

Knowing that the moment Nasray appeared, countless people and giant dragons would try to kill him!

Elaströ deliberately called him by his real name in front of so many people, yet this guy didn’t even realize how much it would affect his future. The wise ones would have fled long ago!

Nasray just kept obsessing over Marko’s gemstone dimension... A human lich who transformed into a Dragon Lich was quite lacking in greed. Anyone with discerning eyes could tell he was a high-quality subordinate specially prepared for the Chromatic Dragon Queen.

For instance, Samast had sent many precious gifts to the Chromatic Dragon Queen.

But Nasray was still so greedy... Whether as a human or a dragon, he inherited the worst and most disgusting bloodline.

”You can die too!” Laila smiled and took out her best-selling strange object... the kind of small rapid-fire dragon-slaying crossbow that the Undead Tribe used the most in Neverwinter Forest. Guess who invented it?

The first time Laila saw the rapid-fire crossbow invented by the Undead Tribe, she was captivated.

And the crystal wand that explodes with just a little pressure... Laila couldn’t understand before what was good about a wand that explodes on the first shot, but the Undead Tribe taught Laila with the blood and tears of their companions that explosion is an art, and timing-punctuated explosions are a supreme art.

Of course, there were many other strange and ingenious objects, poison-coated.

Laila wasn’t very skilled at making such mixed poisons, but since the Undead Tribe sold them at such a cheap price, why not just buy them?

Elaströ glanced at her sister, sighed, and without stopping, added various spells to the bizarre weapons Laila had taken out: acceleration, power enhancement, endurance enhancement, and then accuracy.

Oh, some of the strange objects used crystals that could add ’Blade of Radiance’!

Elaströ was a little interested too... How was this achieved? This magic, which could enhance light energy and cause piercing damage to defenders, required enough energy in the weapon itself during enchantment.

And the creation of strange objects was originally a way to utilize the energy of the materials themselves.

Previously, whenever he enchanted with ’Blade of Radiance’, it was always used on weapons with light panels!

Elaströ watched the weapon with interest, but as she looked up at Laila, who had started her barrage of bombs, she closed her mouth.

She embarrassedly touched her cheek, but couldn’t really feel any sadness, nor could she even express regret... After all, Laila was her sister; there was no need for such a fake mask.

Besides, after so many years as sisters, Laila could see through her life and death genuineness.

But to make her express regret for Kelben’s death... Elaströ moved a few steps to turn her body around... there were still enemies yet to appear! Right?

Enraged, Laila didn’t notice her sister’s evasive movements. Of course, she knew that if Kelben didn’t disappear before Mystra’s appearance, his fate might be even more tragic.

Kelben just chose the best timing... at least the opportunity for resurrection still existed.

But Laila was still filled with grief and indignation... after all, he was the husband she gave so much love to!

The Red Robe Mages of Sel were somewhat hesitant.

Elaströ probably didn’t plan to bother them, and Marko was already wasted.

This area of the Abyssal Gate wouldn’t be livable in the future, and it seemed they would have to relocate again.

But it didn’t matter; anyhow, they had already collected the money they were supposed to.

Yet, the Sorcerer’s Royal Scepter was still in Nasray’s hands!

Their current consideration was... should they backstab Nasray? Or should they backstab Nasray.

Anyone could see that the brewing restlessness ended with another huge explosion.

Even Laila paused for a second and glanced southward... Was that the Ten Towns of Icewind?

Nasray, finally catching a moment of breath, was genuinely spitting blood this time: ”Yinafu! You bastard!”

The giant screen of the Undead Tribe trembled, and someone shouted, ”Magic Sword! There’s nothing much happening here, right? At most, it’s just those Red Robes taking on the Purples together!

Shouldn’t we head to that little town in the south?”

”That’s not possible.” ’Magic Sword’ pondered for a moment before speaking, ”We can’t randomly change plans after taking money.

Have Old Dog ask those people, should I change location? Or should I open another screen.

”Also, ask Arausato if he’d be willing to go through this hassle again.”

”If it’s a money-making job, he’d be willing to fly from Icewind Valley back to Hidden Town, let alone Deepwater City,” the female priest’s voice floated softly. ”But what’s the point of me staying here? It’s not like there’s going to be a fight here, right?

Why don’t I just go back with Arausato?

Anyway, the mistress comes to check if you’re lying around every day.”

”Old Dog said there would be no share of the money if we returned early,” ’Magic Sword’ said without hesitation, ”Forget it! Just watch a couple more shows.”

”Hmm?” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ on the Deepwater City side couldn’t help but softly ask, ”Sanda King, does Magic Sword really have a crush on Little Deer?

Did you guys get it wrong? It doesn’t seem like it!”

”Magic Sword earns a lot, is good at fighting, and isn’t a playboy, yet he can be an Archmage for decades. Why do you think that is?” ’Old Age Striking King’ said with an unchanged expression, ”Even he’s not as good as you. At least you once had it, while he always fails just at the ’crush’ step.”

’Snow Cloud Peak’ quickly backed off... Although the fun was good, dragging oneself into the water was meaningless.

At this moment, the atmosphere in Deepwater City was quite strange.

The cheering explosion from the onlookers of Deepwater City was natural, especially as even Gendilarei stood up, spinning in a circle under the surprised eyes of the Undead Tribe and Edna.

They stayed until now... just to see Kelben blow up like a firework, didn’t they?

It was quite beautiful, haha, and they thought he would only blow up with a black light!

Even those magic electors who lost companions, while trying hard to maintain a serious expression... their fake appearance was obvious at a glance.

Laila’s sisters had no intention of mourning the relative-like Kelben’s death.

Being able to keep a straight face without laughing was already their deepest love for their sisters... The reason they were being attacked here repeatedly, jumping one by one like getting into a boiling pot, frankly was all because of Kelben’s extremely failed calculations, wasn’t it?

Such tragic sadness! The Northern Seven Sisters simultaneously acted with six people, but that was when they were playing at civil war a thousand years ago!

Including Numia, the magic electors were actually observing that Manks... From the day she was sent to Deepwater City, Kelben’s life was practically on countdown.

The malice that Mystra’s archbishop held by sending this obviously problematic goddess’ reserve is unknown to them... but putting oneself in others’ shoes, who among the Weave followers doesn’t hate the Archmage of the Black Staff who caused Mystra to offend more deities?

Everyone understood that Midnight ending up in her current situation was definitely not without Kelben’s instigation.

They now only want to know if Manks is completely unrelated to the goddess or if she’s the carrier of the Shards of Mistra’s Soul, first obtained by the devil.

Compared to how tragically Kelben died, they are more concerned about the whereabouts of Mystra!

If she doesn’t come out soon, they really worry who will be next to suffer!

Especially Xinbu... Midnight Mistrala dislikes apart from Elaströ, who looks a lot like Black Eye, is her who is chaotic neutral!

If that lady remembers her past likes and dislikes, she’s really worried her country might suffer.

Lady Midnight doesn’t need to do anything; just taking those malice-filled pursuers to tour her home, Agralunde might become the next Deepwater City.

Xinbu couldn’t help but show a bit of ferocity in her eyes as she looked at Manks.

Edna raised an eyebrow, staying calm until she saw the various expressions of those electors.

Though still fighting Halaster’s ghosts and shadow charms, the enemies around Storm Silverhand were clearly taken over by Xinbu, and that very lucky bard was holding a crystal ball, trying to record Manks’ expressions and actions.

Even Storm borrowed the huge body of Karagos... Clearly, both Halaster and Karagos saw her actions yet feigned indifference.

And Manks... that black-haired, black-eyed little girl was staring dumbfoundedly at the battle... Clearly crying, yet her half-closed eyes seemed to be forming crescents.

Edna leaned slightly forward, propping her face on her thighs with satisfaction, revealing a satisfied smile: ”Deepwater City... Shouldn’t the matter here be over by now? I think they don’t want to fight anymore.”

”Ah! Kelben is dead,” ’Old Age Striking King’ raised a rather sharp question, ”So does that mean Deepwater City has no one to fund the reconstruction?”

”The reason Deepwater City is important is actually because of those dimensional gates leading to the Outer Realm across the sea,” Gendilarei said calmly, ”If the Lord of Agleya is willing to open his territory, then... from the dimensional gate to Agleya is just more than half a day’s journey.”

”Hill wouldn’t agree,” ’Old Age Striking King’ said without hesitation, ”He has a cleanliness obsession.

What dirty dog things could go to his land?”

Hill on the floating castle nodded with satisfaction.

No wonder he especially admired this ’Old Age Striking King’ lady; she speaks well.

”Don’t insult dogs,” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ added from the back, ”Deepwater City folks, do you want to watch the battle scene of the Ten Towns of Icewind Valley?

The crystal ball for this giant screen is quite expensive, and we can’t let you use it for free.”
