Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1229: Chapter 1020: Talos’s Abortive Schemes

Hill was a bit at a loss.

He could sense that these things were all somewhat special... As for those things set up to deliberately mislead, he wouldn’t be fooled.

Not because of luck, but because of the confidence of an Alchemist Master!

If Hill were to misjudge such things, it’s likely that Fran, researching Toril’s magic array in Purwell, would come rushing down to smash his head!

Hill, with a hint of fear, looked up at the clouds... Purwell was still wandering above the white clouds.

Summoning a water ball with the power of purification, he carefully washed his hands, and began to unpack little by little.

This strange shadow force... Hill glanced at Shaer, and silently picked a silver-blue moonlight flower from the air.

Celene had burst too many times with him, and the moonlight flowers imbued with her divine power were almost becoming part of the rooftop garden’s background effects.

”The Goddess of the Silvermoon from Hill’s world has pure power! Only a purely moon incarnate master, with no other divinities, could so easily blend with the power of the moon from other worlds!” Celene half sat up with interest, ”Hill, who has her sincere blessing, can actually touch my manifested power at will! That moonfire... can Hill catch it too?”

She deftly summoned a brilliant silver-blue flame and sent it to Hill’s side: ”Hill, do you need my power? Moonfire is much stronger than moonlight flowers! Here, play with one.”

Shaer sneered, and a dark fire appeared, sealed within a dark crystal, floating towards Hill: ”I think that pile of things may also need the corrosive power of dark force, right?

You, as a child of nature, probably can’t do it, borrow it.

Celene’s moonfire should not be taken out of the floating castle, too troublesome.”

Celene first roared in anger: ”Shaer! What do you mean!”

Then, understanding from her sister’s even more furious gaze: ”Ah! I forgot.

Well... Hill, you should only play with the moonfire and dark fire within this castle.

You won’t take the castle with you when you leave, right?”

”No.” Hill squinted his eyes and smiled, ”This is the retreat I’ve prepared for Marsha.

During this period, apart from managing Agleya, she also has to take care of Luskan and Hidden Town, where the tower spirits are like subordinates, with loads of affairs sent to her daily for inspection.

Although very busy, Marsha finds it interesting, and cooperating with Lynn makes her happy, so she wants to remain in Toril as a busy administrator.

But... things in Toril are too unpredictable.

Even if I defend well, I’m afraid... isn’t the world’s inexplicable reorganization a possibility?

Therefore, before I leave, I’ll organize the floating castle, for Marsha to use as a body.

With absolute control of the Puzzle Lock, even if something happens to Agleya one day, she and Lynn will have a solid retreat.”

This was the first time Hill clearly informed Shaer and Celene of his plans for the future... mainly seeing the odd items scattered around, he felt it necessary to explain his thoughts clearly.

Hill genuinely felt this time that he needed the guidance and help of nature... It’s a bit too scary!

He couldn’t help but look up again... AO must be watching him closely now, right?

Hill now thinks that even if he openly announces he must leave, AO probably won’t mind anymore, and certainly won’t think leaving him, this unusually lucky child of nature, is a good idea.

The carefully plotted scheming hidden for years in this Icewind Valley, the years of painstakingly detailed prophecies, did he just wipe them all out in one go?

With him around, circling Ferun a few times, many issues probably ended before they even started.

After all, Toril... almost every path of destiny, big or small, was triggered by some powerful divine artifact, strange creature, or peculiar being.

With Hill present, at least those divine artifacts... like a fairy such as Vila... lost their meaning.

Either stuck in storage or altered in properties.

For example, the current Goddess of Magic, AO is not concerned about this lady’s steadfastness in the kind alignment but rather is grateful if she isn’t swayed into chaos!

One Celene is already a handful, though even if it lets in some wind and rain, it’s bearable.

Adding another, who delights in conversing with Celene, getting along harmoniously, sharing tricks, and full of cunning, the Goddess of Magic... Hill absolutely didn’t believe such an Edna could be easily assassinated!

Pain mixed with joy could be bearable for one, but if there are two, wouldn’t pain outweigh joy?

Hmm, it’s best if several new deities like Edna come along, let’s see if AO still has the guts to plot against him!

Wait, Edna?

Hill brightened up, softly asking: ”Respected Lady Shaer, is there anywhere off-limits on Edna’s path of destiny?”

The Shaer on the gauze curtain stared fixedly at Hill: ”Like the Naish scroll, which knows how to veil itself, the worst of it is a subartifact, are you willing?”

Hill waved his hand, the Crystal Flower Ring shining brightly: ”I prefer things I’ve made myself.”

Shaer smiled slightly, ”Wait a moment, I need to ask the old man if there’s anything that he plans to use later that you’ve taken out with you.”

As the pinnacle of the world in the past, Icewind Valley actually holds many secrets... Especially the Great Glacier, which is related to the past of the giant pantheon.

The mountain in Icewind Valley also has some connection with the elven gods... Especially that winged elf god, who has never been able to escape the control of fate because of meddling too much in the affairs of Toril.

Heh heh~ Guess how many critical items you took?

I think the old man’s eyes are practically popping out of his head right now!”

Then she gave a quirky smile, ”If there really is something he’s planning to fish with, you can just throw it back out.

Even taking a Naish Energy Core isn’t a problem, let alone just seeing the Nyscroll once.

Even the set that’s broken to pieces isn’t a problem, there’s a backup with Mystra.

It can be said~ that the wish is fulfilled, right, little Hill?”

Hill looked down, his expression unchanged, but his hands truthfully picked up a dull-looking gray-black metal picture frame.

After burning it with a beautiful silver-blue Moonfire, the gray-black instantly turned into a dark golden color.

Then Hill placed the black crystal on top of the metal picture frame... the golden color immediately appeared in front of everyone.

Thin as a cicada’s wing, the small pieces of gold slowly flattened out from their curled-up state, Hill counted, exactly fifty sheets.

”Looks like...” Celene laughed lightly, ”You had already felt which one was... the Nyscroll, huh?”

”The other things, even if they’ve been refined many times, still carry a bit of natural aura.” Hill answered faintly, ”Only this one had no aura of its own, just a trace of mana, like it once housed something like magical images.

Normally, it indeed wouldn’t attract attention, but once someone had a general idea, it would actually be quite easy to locate.”

”Not... everyone can discern such a faint scent.” Lansendel paced over slowly, his small eyes looking carefully for a while before sighing, ”At least... I don’t feel anything.”

Shaer quickly returned, she giggled and opened her mouth, ”Hill, the old man says, other things are fine, as those are just small tricks played by other deities, you can give it to Edna to play with, it’s a good thing for him.

But that black feather picture frame and that slender leaf twig, please find a way to return them to Icewind Valley.”

He glanced at the two items.

The so-called feather picture frame, with its rough style, looked like it was made by giants, but Hill could confirm that this thing was definitely related to the winged elves.

And that so-called slender leaf twig... it looked nature-related, but actually, it resembled the pendant of a necklace that giants liked to wear.

Hill couldn’t help but twitch his lips... Is Ao planning to resolve how many historical issues within 100 years?

Shaer’s expression was filled with doubt, ”Hill, Ao asked me to ask you, have you burned a lot of twigs?”

Hill was startled, ”But that can’t be a problem! Except for the fact that it smells nice, particularly like the Golden Apple.

But wasn’t that area a regular dwelling place for elves?

The Golden Apple wasn’t a precious thing before the Eternal Color Era!

Moreover, I couldn’t possibly mistake the twigs! I handpicked them all myself!”

Shaer tilted her head slightly, then slowly said, ”Twigs indeed! There’s no mistake. It’s just that those were planted by Olypher, the Great Fairy of the time, for his apple-loving lover.

Others might not recognize them, but Olypher, who nurtured them with care and spent long years with that tree, definitely would.

Ao says... if Olypher finds out about that tree, she might suddenly go mad from her current state of avoidance... Every time she causes a major event, it’s because she remembers those unfortunate pasts.

But now... that tree has already turned completely to ash in your roast duck oven.

You should be able to guess what Talos is waiting for now?

If a mad Olypher could break through Agleya’s blockade and contact him in Deepwater City,

then... the Winter Maiden would return to The Fury Camp.”

”Ao... has no opinion on this?” Hill asked, filled with frustration.

He doesn’t even know if the one with good luck is that Winter Maiden!

So many schemes were all devoured by Agleya, who stood in the way!

”The old man won’t care about Olypher, if it weren’t for the necessity of winter... without her, it wouldn’t matter either.

The Winter Maiden, such a character, neither completely bad nor completely good, is simply a chicken rib!” Celene couldn’t help but criticize, ”If she dared to do any bad deed, or simply was as shameless as Ambori, it would be easier to handle.

Didn’t you notice, over here in Toril, nothing involves her?

She’s just a big trouble!”
