Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1208: Chapter 999: Reversed Roles for Icewind Valley and Deepwater City

Hill looked at the two primordial goddesses before him and suddenly felt a genuine sense of joy... In raising daughters, he was undoubtedly better than AO.

Although his own little darling was a bit lacking, at least there was still some warmth!

These two... Only a real father like AO could have endured until now.

Hill decided that when visiting the Tyr Temple from now on, he should also visit Agleya’s Sea God Temple... After all the mental stimulation, he needed something warm for his cold heart.

Numia’s appearance once again tilted the battle in Deepwater City in favor of the Goddess of Magic’s chosen, yet this also triggered the Red Robe Mages in Icewind Valley.

The four ancient liches that had survived since Naish’s time almost without hesitating simultaneously targeted Kelben.

Then, from the mountains opposite the Undead Tribe’s location, nearly endless magic missiles were launched... Laila had made her move.

This type of wand that could unleash 50 shots at once, and could wield over five simultaneously, only someone like Laila in the Ferun Great Land, who could multitask, could achieve.

Then the famous arcanist, with a few leaps, was beside Kelben, and the prepared Disintegrate was directly hurled at the Red Robe Mages.

”Laila!” Kelben exclaimed in surprise.

”Kelben.” Laila’s face remained calm, ”I’m here... if only to ensure that the father of my children do not end in ruin.”

The face of the Black Staff, which had always been sorrowful and indignant, slowly became calm: ”No matter what, you’re here.

Moreover, even if I die, I will not turn to evil.

No matter how much they plot, can they find a completely shattered soul?”

Hill couldn’t help but pause, was Kelben planning a do-or-die mission?

For a chosen one’s soul to be utterly shattered, it would have to come from a belief in wanting to cease to exist.

Otherwise, the Weave would certainly reclaim his soul.

The reason so many dared to move against the Mistrala Elector now, was because there were many loopholes in the current Weave.

Only now was there an opportunity to capture the souls of these electors before the Weave.

And with Mystra’s return still far away, even if she remembers her electors and is willing to fight for them... what if, in this short time, they have already corrupted these electors?

Who’s unaware that the foundation of these electors not only came from the Weave, but mostly from that Celene!

The Maiden of the Moon, with her carefree nature, as long as she isn’t completely offended, she has at least a chance not to reclaim her Moonfire... what if it’s him who benefits?

That’s why so many targeted the Mistrala Elector this time when the Weave was broken... it’s a perfect storm of opportunity.

After all, wasn’t it a fact that the Lady Midnight’s resurrection was too late?

Those knowledgeable about the deities in Toril all thought Midnight was now in pieces, completely dismantled.

And by the time the new Goddess of Magic takes her place in the center of the Weave, no one thinks she will retain much old sentiment.

These people believed... the new Goddess of Magic must be a lucky novice who had acquired a significant shard of Mistra’s soul.

By the fourth generation, how much sentiment could remain for the descendants and electors of the second? Midnight wouldn’t have given up her very name for the world’s stability if she hadn’t come from the Kind Alignment.

The changes of the Goddess of the Weave, the massive differences between Mistra and Mystree, the even clear disparities and disagreements between two Mistras... Led some bold individuals unable to resist their slim hopes and act.

Of course, they understood the Path of Destiny was terrifying, but just targeting Mistrala’s electors... she hasn’t shown any signs yet!

When she emerges, naturally everyone will fade into obscurity, leaving the new Mystra a world filled with everything but monsters and demons.

Manx’s appearance signifies too much... No one believes she is Mystra, but most believe that the real Mystra is probably just like Manx, only an eight-year-old child.

According to Toril people’s common sense, this means the Path of Destiny is at least eight years away.

Silverfire... a power representing primordial life and light, who wouldn’t covet it?

Even liches are deeply interested in primordial life; could there only be one Duogasos who desires both immortality and a youthful and robust body?

Otherwise, Duogasos would just be another Primordial Black Dragon turned Undead Dragon, and couldn’t have wreaked havoc in The North for so long without being taken out?

Just like the storm muttered, she had long wanted to give this black dragon that harassed female bards a beating... So who made her choose not to make a move?

It wasn’t until Duogasos came before her, seeking death, that she chose to strike swiftly, and as this black dragon began slacking, the speed of the storm’s sword also slowed significantly, though still cutting to the bone with every strike, at least leaving a few of that strange black membrane on him, visible to others.

Clearly, even those Magic Electors are curious to see if it’s possible to create new life using magic and divine power full of life.

Though Duogasos has always been sly, he never provokes someone truly strong...his sudden action this time is likely because of Amanata.

Even if he’s a fool, after learning the truth about that cup... Of course, he might have known long ago what that cup was, but at that time, Amanata was still lying in the Stellar Realm!

He was, after all, a Primordial Black Dragon, why would he fear a Sea God who might not be resurrected anytime soon!

Who knows... Ah well, Duogasos is certainly the unlucky one that Benshasha loved to curse, in the North where there are so many Dragon Liches, yet it was his lair where the cup landed.

Even with the immense troubles it brings, what dragon would push away such a prized Divine Artifact?

Even if they know the massive energy contained within the cup is far from simple, the same principle holds true.

If a dragon could do that, would it still be called a dragon?

Even if they turn into a skeleton, the soul of a giant dragon remains an eternal existence.

Hill can understand why Duogasos held onto the Cup of Amanata so tightly, despite knowing the immense risk it entails...after all, he’s had quite a few encounters with giant dragons.

Terry was already the most straightforward and least greedy dragon he’d encountered...but if his beloved mother dared to snatch even one Gold Coin from him, he’d grit his teeth and fight, even if it meant getting trampled, he’d still throw himself into the fray.

Yet Terry surprisingly was willing to gift Hill shells and fish harvested from waters and minerals...without expecting anything in return, truly the most generous dragon Hill’s met!

Even as he sensed the Archmage of the Black Staff’s determination to tear through destiny, Hill’s view of Kelben didn’t change...if not for all Kelben’s struggles premised on harming and depriving others, Hill might have spoken a few polite words.

But he’d never forget the helplessness and anger upon discovering that card...It was the first time Hill felt such unfounded hostility...all because he might disrupt Kelben’s visions of a beautiful future for himself and his descendants.

Hill smiled gently...woven into the storyline by the Tablets of Fate, the more one struggles, the more they are hurt.

Truly wise ones, like Elaströ, had no desire to get involved proactively...The Lady of the Silvermoon from history, upon realizing something amiss, pretended to die immediately.

And hid in Candlekeep, awaiting Mystra’s second rebirth.

As for this battle between Deepwater City and Icewind Valley, that’s entirely another matter... initiated by those deities and Liches of the Evil Faction.

In this regard, the Tablets of Fate adhere quite strictly to the rules, always targeting the main culprit first.

So, in this chaotic Path of Destiny tangled with confusion, only Kelben truly faces the risk of a complete downfall.

It seems he thought things very thoroughly...yet if fate could easily be grasped this way, Kranvo and Midnight, with their powerful divine powers, wouldn’t have ended up here.

Hill lowered his head, smiling softly, acknowledging that even though Kelben calculated it right, his role as Lord of Agleya indeed caused the Black Staff’s fate to take a dramatic turn...worsening increasingly.

But if not for Kelben’s first move, Hill would have definitely stayed a bystander...but then again, the Haber Family might once more have succeeded in balancing on the tightrope.

After all, even AO does not watch over everything, nor does he know it all.

Hill looked up at the two giant screens...in the situation at Deepwater City now, the defensive and offensive roles have switched, the Evil Faction starting to stall for time with effort.

Only Talos remains unconvinced, continuously preaching the great prospects on his side to Xinbu...he laments the chaotic neutrality of Xinbu, constrained often by Elminster and his sister.

If he were to follow him, Xinbu would have the freedom to do whatever he wanted.

The Storm Queen couldn’t hold back her rage and exclaimed: ”Ah! All I know is, in the Fury Camp apart from you, Ambori is a fool and Marla is a madman, with Olypher nearly retreating into himself!

Which one do you expect me to become?

Speaking of which, have you even come across Olypher?

Ah, the Winter Maiden is indeed ruthless! She has mercilessly abandoned all snow lands not bordering the territories of Goddess Agleya!

Then again, there are just scraps left; giving those to you won’t severely harm her divine power.

She might as well sever ties with you altogether earlier.

If it weren’t for the fact that the Goddess Agleya doesn’t belong to Toril, she might have already gone with a crown to become her lesser god!”
