Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1237: Chapter 1028: The Chromatic Dragon Queen Who Really Likes Agleya

After this probing, the Toril Gods understood: whatever the reason the Three Gods stayed in Agleya, at least it had little to do with the city’s owner.

Hill, who came from another world with such formidable abilities, would not possibly bow his head to serve in Toril.

The Toril deities were well aware of this: their land was decent for deities, but not a good place for a powerful Mage to settle down.

Since it was merely a good relationship between the Twin Goddesses and Agleya, that was another matter.

They would naturally choose another place to make a move again.

For Hill, this result was quite acceptable.

Although at this stage he would not fear any deity making a move... Edna would eventually have a day to return home!

By that time, even with AO’s restrictions, if the Toril deities kept troubling Agleya, it would be hard for him to cope.

Not everyone was as wasteful as Valkin.

Besides, Hill couldn’t stay in this Toril forever... His goal for coming here was the Mithril Energy Core, though it had to transform from a physical object into a production method, Hill didn’t mind much.

The reason why this thing could not be recreated was simple, the cost was too high.

For Toril people, the biggest trouble in making another Mithril Energy Core was not the production method, but the materials.

The creation of a Half-plane consumed much less than this thing.

Even Elminster, such a powerful Mage, ultimately, when creating his Ilminster Planet, only tried to use Floating City Magic to float the city up, rather than having the cities orbit his planet.

But Hill figured, if he looked for materials with a mindset of traveling to the Stellar Realm, it shouldn’t... take too long, right?

Even if a Half-plane could always absorb energy from the outside, what if he traveled to a low magic Plane?

He couldn’t shortchange himself too much.

Ah! In every world, an energy crisis is a big stone hanging over humanity’s head!

”Which place will be next to have bad luck?” Lynn, who understood the small-mindedness of the Toril Gods very well, asked softly.

”Probably... Kalinsan?” Hill said with a grin.

The deities on the Toril side really didn’t like to do just one thing at a time.

Especially when attacking an enemy, it’s best to also give another annoying person a slap.

As for who was the biggest and most loathed nuisance in Toril?

Lansendel was only avoided by people, Rose was only fled from by gods.

Even Cyric had gods who could chat with him a bit.

Only Amanata was unwelcome by everyone.

Now that he was trying to establish his own nation of faith in Kalinsan, where his faith was lacking on the ground and the underground faith was Shaer’s, who had always regarded him as an enemy... naturally, someone would want to find fault with him.

Kalinsan’s days would certainly be lively from then on.

Unless Amanata became a powerful Divine Power again, the Toril deities probably wouldn’t let up.

They also wouldn’t fear Amanata’s retaliation... With the temperament of this Sun God, who had an imperial monarch style: in favorable winds, I am the king of the world, in adverse winds, I am a peace ambassador... unless one day he could again gather a belief ground as strong as the Naicer Empire, even if he struggled back to being a powerful Divine Power, he wouldn’t make enemies everywhere.

Ah, not to mention Toril’s faith has been divided to the extreme by the deities, even if a place like Naicer appears again, how could they possibly believe in this?

Therefore, in future Toril, one will definitely hide at dawn, not fearing the sun no matter how poisonous.

”After Edna had enough of rummaging around in Icewind Valley, did she head over there?” Lynn asked with a chuckle, ”Hill, how long do you reckon this national treasure hunt excitement will last?

Will there be anything left?”

Hill, feeling slightly guilty, tugged at his long hair: ”Just... in case... if even Tampas has some hidden plans?

The barbarians here don’t interact much with me.”

”Are you dreaming?” Lynn said unceremoniously, ”The three gods are right in Icewind Valley! Any problematic item has long been collected up, okay?

Who would hide things in front of the Undead Tribe?

They can even dig out the tiny and fine chicken bones buried by the white dragon cub!”

”Maybe... some things, those Icewind Valley merchants might think highly of and didn’t sell to me!

Maybe someone has something in their warehouse... you see, they’re all learning to follow the Mayor’s actions!

Maybe someone can find something good!” Hill argued without giving up.

”So, how many do you have in hand? All Gods have their own territories.” Lynn asked very directly, ”Given the population and belief attributes of the mortals in Icewind Valley, there are just a few deities who would scheme, I can think of only five.

Even with those related to the Nyscroll, let’s say he has ten items!

I remember, when you came back that time, you had already found three on the surface, right?

He quietly gazed at Hill: ”You must at least let me know, how many more powerful deities harboring resentment will Agleya have in the future?”

”That’s not a problem...” Hill said softly, ”Those of AO’s were already taken back. And those related to Edna, they’ll be handled by her in the future.”

Lynn raised an eyebrow, pointing to the bubbles rolling on the waves stirred up by the leaping fish: ”Again... that glass ball fraud?”

Hill smiled and nodded... Such a peculiar yet precise evaluation, who knows whether it came from an Elf or the God of Singing.

”The rest...” Hill turned his head to look north, raising his chin, ”When you have a lot of lice, it stops itching.”

”Rose, Bane?” Lynn speculated while observing Hill’s expression, finally stammering, ”And... Talos?”

Hill softly added, ”And Tiamat. But this one... probably won’t trouble me.

Or rather... she will trouble me last.

Trouble, taken away by Celene.”

Lynn spread his hands: ”Tiamat, huh~ Unless we openly join forces with Bahamut, the Chromatic Dragon Queen surely won’t cause us trouble!”

”Because we raised a White Dragon?” Hill asked unbelievingly, ”Could it be that she doesn’t care if I raise a White Dragon to become... Kind Alignment?”

These young White Dragons have lived in Agleya for so long, they are envious of Terry who can fly freely in the city and often enjoy big meals. Some of them... it’s unclear whether their will is frail or decisive... have already begun shifting towards neutrality.

It’s not impossible for them to touch the border of Kind Alignment before adulthood, after all, the entire White Dragon race is counted as the least evil among the Chromatic Dragons... After all, until they reach the level of an Ancient Dragon, they don’t even have the qualification to pillage and plunder.

And the White Dragons that reach the Ancient Dragon level generally don’t attack civilians anymore; they prefer to rob merchants and merchant ships, as the cost-performance ratio is a serious concern.

In some sense, the notorious deeds of the White Dragon race might be even less than those of the miserly Steel Dragons.

Who let them really have no ability and a small nerve before reaching a certain size... A typical case of being savage if they can win, and fleeing if they can’t.

”White Dragons... Almost every year, the other Chromatic Dragons request the Chromatic Dragon Queen to exclude White Dragons from the True Dragon roster and turn them into Dragon Beasts during their tributes to Tiamat... Then promote the Abyssal Giant Serpent to Abyssal Dragon status, after all, that thing is indeed Dragonborn.

If it weren’t for a few Ancient White Dragons by Tiamat’s side as companions, they might have succeeded... Tiamat was genuinely tempted, especially... after the Metal Dragons nurtured White Dragons of Kind Alignment.

So, as for matters related to White Dragons, she tends to turn a blind eye.

Unless you have the ability to turn White Dragons from inherently evil to inherently kind.”

Hill couldn’t help but twitch his mouth: ”What a joke? Who would deliberately teach White Dragons? Isn’t it all about seeing if they can mutate successfully on their own?”

”Ha~” Lynn couldn’t help but laugh, ”Look at your actions, and you will understand why Tiamat doesn’t want to interfere at all.

Besides, haven’t you thought about why so many little White Dragons are following Elvia, who aren’t descendants of her or Arausato?

The Nine-Faced Dragon God sent down so many dragon eggs... At least half of them are Chromatic Dragons.

How many do you think hatched into White Dragons?

Fortunately, that White Dragon Queen, despite her plundering ways, truly cares for the young ones.

Probably related to being taken in by that Old Mage and cared for a long time during her most miserable times, she’s very tolerant of juvenile White Dragons.

Not only would she prevent older White Dragons from bullying hatchlings, but she also turns a blind eye to juvenile White Dragons secretly digging worms or catching mice in her territory before reaching adulthood.

The survival rate of White Dragon hatchlings in her territory is the lowest in mortality.

In contrast, other naturally stronger dragon kinds have a higher death rate, as they wouldn’t rear offspring unrelated to themselves.

You still remember how Bahamut nurtures the Metal Dragons, right?

That’s why the number of Metal Dragons is now almost double that of the Chromatic Dragons! And this is all propped up by the number of White Dragons.

This time, Tiamat really lost out instead of gaining, it’s hard to say if she’s gone mad with anger.”

Hill tilted his head and thought: ”Hmm... I don’t think she is really that angry.”

Lynn blinked, knowing it’s related to Hill’s gains in the Icewind Valley, he shook his head and said: ”Alright~ The most important point is, Chromatic Dragons love doing business here.

Although Agleya City doesn’t allow Evil Giant Dragons in, the market at the port does.

They often come here to sell grains and minerals and buy some inexpensive strange objects to resell to other continents.

After all, with the Magic Ships out of commission in today’s Toril, dragons are the most suitable cross-continental merchants.”

Hill looked at Lynn blankly, tilted his head, and uttered an ’ah?’.

”The number of offerings Tiamat and Bahamut have received over the years related to Agleya, who knows how much!

With the temperament of these two Dragon Gods, they’d rather have their altars explode than see anything happen to Agleya,” Lynn said, spreading his hands.
