Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1215: Chapter 1006: Kelben’s Bewilderment

Elaströ looked at the magic wand in her hand, then turned and hurled it fiercely at Nasray, casting a murderous glance at Kelben beforehand.

She could have been that wealthy too!

But in order to maintain the Black Staff, she had completely fallen out with the Lord of Agleya… that lord simply refused to allow Silvermoon City to establish any trade points in any of Agleya’s three cities!

The port only allowed their merchant ships to dock because of Laila’s influence!

Though they could sell some goods there, could the wholesale price and retail price be the same?

Just thinking about it made her furious!

Laila, who only knew how to make magic wands, could earn so much money… whenever Elaströ thought about what she sacrificed to repay a favor to Kelben, she felt stifled.

Her daughter’s happiness, excellent descendants, and endless gold coins, ahhhhh!

Throw, throw, throw, throw, throw!

Elaströ’s sudden rage startled Nasray.

The existence of the Dead Magic Zone was to allow him to maneuver and defend easily among the cooperation of the three Chosen… such as Elaströ’s melee avatars that depended on the Weave’s existence, didn’t they all disappear!

Even if her mana was always full in the Mist of Mistral, the Dead Magic Zone limited her to only long-range attacks.

As long as he appeared to handle things easily, the Red Robe Mages would at most watch coldly… the existence of the Sorcerer’s Royal Scepter could only achieve this extent.

Otherwise, Nasray absolutely wouldn’t doubt these two-faced Sel’s Red-robed, Elaströ couldn’t arouse their greed.

Moreover, there’s still Kelben, who dared to collaborate with Bane’s Santalin Meeting for profit!

Who knows if he has any connection with the Red Robes!

And Laila is known for her wide network, with the silent leader of the Sel Arcane School’s lich standing over there, obviously positioned… a spot easy for retreat at any time.

It would be strange if the two didn’t know each other!

So now Nasray didn’t expect these Red Robes to help, just as long as they’re willing to guard that Great Glacier entrance to the Abyssal Gate and prevent that always covetous Kelben from entering.

Ha… did Marko want to stay above it all?

If he really had that ability, why did he rely on Kelben in the first place… Nasray looked back, how many dragons turned into a dragon lich by the Dragon Worship Church, once were part of the Kind Alignment?

No mage could endure the dual threat of power and life… staying by the Abyssal Gate, Marko would never have hope of advancing again in his lifetime, could he endure it?

A kind selfish person is the easiest for an Archmage to walk the path of the dragon lich!

Once this Archmage, who had operated in The North for thousands of years and even had his own exclusive Dimensional Space, became one of them, the Purple Robes of the Dragon Worship Church need not hide and scurry!

Nasray glanced coldly at the south… if not for those two dragons having almost emptied the Dragon Worship Church and even the members’ properties… everyone almost lived in Tiamat’s Castle on that Ice Mountain to support Samast back then, and as a result… even the things Sazzastan left him, he couldn’t keep!

Nasray initially planned to find those two dragons and reclaim his belongings first, but after seeing how unfortunate Duogasos was, he decided to wait and see the outcome of Yaglourosa, the Shadow Dragon Lich in Sambia who divided the Dragon Worship Church’s wealth with the Black Dragon Lich.

Humph! What was the result of taking away so many things?

Look at Duogasos, how lucky!

The Dragon Worship Church caused so much trouble, leading to the demise of so many dragons, that even the instigator Tiamat was probably scared… she wanted the Metal Dragons to become dragon liches, not for the Chromatic Dragons to die more than the Metal Dragons!

Bane once laughed about the misfortune surrounding him, saying it was a curse from Toril.

And in the Dragon Worship Church, except for him, Nasray, who was always in the undead status during that period, who else wasn’t cursed?

Even the great divine power Bane could only endure it… Bane was still up to something, but what he did now was within the tolerable range of Toril, even relying on left kicking Baal and right tricking demons to regain some luck for himself.

Even on the Path of Destiny of Mystra, Bane chose to act indirectly… yet seemed to fail due to bad luck?

Nasray pulled a large necromancy creature to stand in front of him, thoughtfully pondering: Bane seemed to want to sever ties with Rose, not wishing the Toril people to discuss him with that dirty spider together.

So the swordsman that was meant to scheme against Midnight became a wasted piece.

He honestly harbors no hatred toward that Midnight, though they despise evil… tsk, it’s better than the last one!

That Black Eye… if licentiousness weren’t excluded from evil, she should have ended up in the Abyss long ago!

Nasray’s animosity towards Black Eye and Elaströ definitely wouldn’t disappear with the complete demise of Samast.

However… he still plans to follow Bane’s footsteps, harass the Mistrala Electors, and meddle less in that Goddess’ matters!

Everything waits until the Path of Destiny concludes.

He glanced back at the entrance of the Great Glacier, a slight smile playing at the corner of his mouth… Kelben must have thought that his goal was to kill him, right?

After all, this guy was destined to be a dead man, so the majority of the Evil Faction targeted him.

No matter how fierce the battle in Deepwater City was, aside from Talos actually trying to show the Storm Queen his power and charm, the other few were merely making up the numbers.

Nasray sneered at the ice mountain behind Kelben; among these three before him, anyone’s death would be a great boon to him.

But… what he truly wanted was a willing Marko to become a human Dragon Lich.

No choice, Samast had fallen, and they had only three uses left for the conversion array they held; forcibly converting was no longer possible.

He could only push that self-deceiving fellow to sooner confront reality.

Nasray frowned, summoning a few colossal necromancy creatures to block the path… After a millennium, what kind of fortune had Elaströ stumbled upon?

How can a wand of this level give the feeling of boundlessness?

He tightened his grip on the Sorcerer’s Royal Scepter in his hand, deciding to expand the Dead Magic Zone further the next day, to see how many wands that woman could wield!

Could she possibly use them continuously for three days?

As long as they showed signs of exhaustion… never mind those enemies lurking behind; even Sel’s Red-robes wouldn’t be able to resist striking!

Which past users of the Weave, including the Shadow Weave, wouldn’t want to eliminate two Mistrala Electors to vent their frustrations?

Everyone’s been living by calculating Magic Slots… yet here they are, opening a blue mist like they’re downloading and casting spells concurrently; indeed, just those two magic slots… but they aren’t limited to using them only once!

Ah, no, they can even summon back from the Weave when used.

Who wouldn’t hate that!

Once the battle turns into a war of attrition, it’s a matter of material reserves… in other words, money.

Previously, comparing wealth with the Dragon Worship Church, rooted in Giant Dragons, was merely a dream… Even if both Elaströ and Kelben were competent in management, they couldn’t compare to the dragons’ cost-free profits.

But this time… even though initially unnoticed, both Sel’s Red-robes and Nasray, including Kelben who silently observed the battle, focused their attention on Laila after seeing Elaströ continue throwing magic wands for hours.

That kind of continual Magic Missiles seemed certainly to be Laila’s handiwork.

Laila’s crafted wands weren’t just Magic Missiles; they included Human Hold Spells and Summoning Spells, but these two weren’t suitable for use in the Dead Magic Zone.

Yet, those familiar with her all knew she wouldn’t only make Magic Missile wands.

This means these persistent wands, she surely has almost equal numbers of the other two.

Has Luskan discovered a gold mine?

But even if they did, they don’t believe Laila has the ability to swallow so much gold under the Lord of Agleya’s nose!

Kelben hesitated repeatedly, but ultimately did not dare to ask.

Knowing his wife well… though Laila can be considered cunning to some extent, she wouldn’t easily break her promises.

Thus, it’s impossible she stole the Lord of Agleya’s minerals, or embezzled any taxes… as the Lord of Deepwater City, he can still estimate Luskan’s tax bracket.

The Lord of Agleya has always taxed according to the Toril average; even though Luskan, by connecting to the interior of Ferun Great Land, achieved more trade, its annual income was at most one or two million gold coins.

Just those magic wands Laila threw to Elaströ today cost 200,000 gold on materials alone… although these wands can be recycled and reused, the sheer quantity poses the largest problem.

Moreover, it’s clear that Laila has at least as many in hand.

Kelben touched his ring, suddenly feeling a sense of despondency… He simply doesn’t think that Laila would remain in Luskan working for that Hill long term.

Once those two children grow, they just can’t save money… Laila, keen on researching Magical Items, would spend even 1 gold coin on experiments… how could a wife support the normal consumption of two Mages?

Sooner or later, Laila would forgive him for the children.

Of course, Kelben also knows at that time he would have to give up pressuring Elaströ… Black Staff isn’t foolish, he knows why Laila broke ties with him.

But if he succeeded, he naturally wouldn’t require benefits from Elaströ’s side!

As for failure… once he’s turned to ashes, the sisters from Elaströ or Shadow Valley would take Laila away.

But right now… if earning as a Municipal Officer under that Lord of Agleya were truly this high… would Laila still bring the children back?

Previously so sure that Laila would eventually forgive him, Kelben inexplicably began feeling confused: If the prophecy were true, then what was the current situation?
