Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1218: Chapter 1009: Unexpected and Not So Welcome Reinforcements

Everyone in the round hall looked at each other, lacking the will to continue fighting.

Talos silently descended from the roof to the ground… that Mad Mage, he was a bit intimidated too.

How this Black-robed Archmage returned from the Outer Planes to Toril, a place even isolated deities cannot easily enter, is another matter… as long as he wishes to embark on the Path of Destiny, it’s merely a matter of AO’s thought.

Otherwise, those deities wouldn’t burn some divine power passage just to send a manifestation in.

If you pay enough toll, AO is actually quite agreeable.

And why he returned… the bigwigs of Deepwater City are all well aware.

The Black Robe might go mad whenever he appears in the Underworld, but that is because this powerful mage exchanged his sanity for power… if he is a Level 45 Archmage under the sunlight, he almost instantly becomes a Level 50 powerhouse that can even kill deities after entering the Underdark.

To have the home he built at the cost of his sanity destroyed by a bunch of scheming scoundrels, these past few years, this Black-robed Archmage is likely getting angrier the more he thinks about it… Moreover, he probably suspects that if he doesn’t return, those troublemakers will all die out.

Then who would he seek revenge from?

No movement for so many years, yet returning at such an accurate time… who would believe it has nothing to do with the Tablets of Fate?

So he directly returned to the Underworld, not even considering, like in the past, what level of magic he should use to avoid affecting Deepwater City where he lived for so long.

Blowing it up makes him happy, would he possibly leave it to Kelben who stirred up the Haber Family?

He!

Halaster the Black Robe, is the one who knows best how to set off fireworks in Toril!

How to blow up an earthquake that can bring Deepwater City to collapse, that’s simply a piece of cake.

And, let those unfortunate souls know why they’re getting blown up!

In the prophecy, isn’t Deepwater City supposed to face great misfortune? He could elevate that misfortune level to the point where Benshasha personally intervenes!

Gendilarei helplessly closed his eyes and thought for a few seconds, then turned to look at the little girl from the Undead Tribe, flipping his hand over to take out a few rose-colored Dawn Stones: “Can you use these?”

‘Old Age Striking King’ took those crystal stones, borrowed a crystal ball from Old Dog, fiddled with it for a while and nodded: “Yes, 1 stone can be used for 1 day.”

“Then… let it be!” Gendilarei pulled his mouth into a cold smile, “Deepwater City has worshipped the Tower of the Dawn for so many years, me offering a few stones to make them a bit happier is only fair.”

“If it’s not enough, I also have Silvermoon Stones here,” came a woman’s voice, firm with a hint of pride.

A proud woman emerged from the entrance Dove had just jumped down from, wearing a wide-bottom, hoop skirt with a large, fan-shaped collar rising behind her neck. The skirt and cloak, adorned with strings of pearls and other gems enchanted and animated, and a delicate Moonstone Crown left viewers a bit dazzled.

“Nanese Sariel?” Gendilarei asked full of doubt, “You didn’t go to Agleya?”

“The Silver Temple hasn’t collapsed,” Sariel said casually, “Most of the priests are still in the temple.

We and the people over at Agleya have very different personalities and styles, cooperation is impossible.

When my master was present, it was impossible to scheme for power under her nose.

Also, I can’t meet the lord’s demands.

If I have to obey someone else’s orders, I would rather stay in the ruins, waiting for Deepwater City to be rebuilt.

Isn’t the same true for you?

As long as the Tower of the Dawn doesn’t collapse, you wouldn’t leave Deepwater City either, right?”

“It’s not like we haven’t experienced such desolate times before,” Gendilarei laughed, “A hundred years is just a fleeting dream.

It’s just that I’m a bit surprised you’d be willing to endure such a life.”

“Hmph!” Sariel sneered, “If there’s a need to shop, just go to Agleya! That busy lord won’t stop us Silvermoon Devotees from going in to buy things.

There, not to mention other things, there’s plenty of pretty jewelry and clothes.

Right, that little girl named Edna?”

Edna blinked her eyes, showing a sweet smile, her fingers shimmering with a purple glow lightly touched the hairpiece adorned like stars in her hair: “Ah, it’s just a bit expensive, 500,000 gold coins per set!

I emptied my ten-year savings of pocket money just like that!

But, no choice, who can blame Hill for always being able to create things comparable to demi-god artifacts!

If I had a bit more money, how great it would be!

Ah! I shouldn’t have said these things to you… sorry about that.

Celene’s temple… isn’t the Tower of the Dawn.”

Sariel’s hand clenched tightly around the white scepter… although the Silver Temple of Deepwater City is well managed, for her to spend 500,000 gold coins on a set of jewelry… She’d have to sell all her assets!

She frowned at Edna, knowing that the obvious hostility shown by this little girl is due to her own disrespect towards the Lord of Agleya.

“Naneze,” Gendilarei sighed, “Celene is only one, watch your attitude.

The identity of that one is not an ordinary Divine Child.

Since the day when several powerful Divine Powers were willing to sit down and have tea with him, the Lord of Agleya was no longer someone mundane people could casually comment on.

If indeed punished for disrespecting such a powerful person, even Celene could do nothing significant.”

Nasir sneered, “Hmph! Silvermoon Devotees are always so clueless.”

“The Night Cloak is fit to judge me?” Sariel nodded slightly to Edna, tapping the scepter on her arm to express apologies, while angrily rebuking the Followers of the Night.

If this Night Cloak hadn’t been from the local North, she would have long lost control!

Even if Shaer and Celene have reconciled, both sides’ followers have tangled for so many years, who hasn’t stained their hands with each other’s blood!

Moreover, compared to the Night’s followers who don’t care much about how many colleagues die, the Silvermoon followers hold much deeper hatred in their hearts.

“Naneze…” Gendilarei sighed as he spoke, “Can we return to the main topic?

Nasir, could you please keep quiet for a moment?

You don’t have any advancement task now, right?”

Then he suddenly turned and asked earnestly, “None, correct?”

“My task is only to follow Miss Edna until she returns to Hidden Town.

Before this task is completed, only My Lord can assign me a new task.” Nasir glanced at the chosen of the Lord of Dawn, felt his tension, and after thinking, frankly told the truth.

Edna tilted her head slightly, “Then there’s no need to worry, unless someone is dumb enough to openly curse Shaer here.”

She smiled at the Silvermoon Archbishop, “Though Celene’s priests are quite autonomous, they can’t decide for their deities, right?”

The ‘Old Age Striking King’ interrupted their exchange, “Where should the screen be placed?

Gendilarei, forewarning, that… woman dressed like a big gift package, she can’t get on my cloud.

Hill’s creations are not for her touch.”

Gendilarei sighed, pointing to the front of the cloud, right in the center of the hall, “Place it here! Anyway, those below aren’t fighting; perfect to watch the play together.”

A 3-meter-high screen was quickly projected onto that spot.

The people from Deepwater City inside the round hall, quickly sensing what they were saying, swiftly flew to both sides of the cloud.

The Archbishop of Celene frowned… In Deepwater City, where no one dared to provoke, she hadn’t felt such neglect for many years.

Especially… a Night Cloak without even a Transcendent sat there, while she, the chief archbishop of the North Silver Temple, could only stand.

But she wasn’t foolish; from Gendilarei’s behavior, it seemed that this small squad consisting only of a newly adult superior elf wasn’t ordinary in status… Perhaps not what she imagined either, a bait team prepared for Mystra’s emergence.

Showing her dissatisfaction with the neighboring lord publicly seemed a bit impulsive… She had long held a grudge over being the only one unable to visit, despite her revered Main God being next door.

What’s wrong with power-hungry people? She is ruthless but loyal to Celene, arrogant only in her own temple… and not to the extent of being hated by followers!

“You, the Deepwater City High Priest, your head’s a bit lacking, bound to cause trouble eventually,” Shaer remarked blandly.

“Yet for so many years your subordinates couldn’t drag her down, let alone assassinate her, right?” Celene gleefully said, “Naneze is just a bit power-hungry but never foolish; she’ll soon change her ways.”

No choice; this Silver Temple in Deepwater City is indeed the largest and longest existing temple I have.

She has the capital to be so proud.”

“What capital? Talking tough in front of Mystra?” Shaer calmly asked.

“No matter her shortcomings, she’s still that kind little girl.” Celene smiled with warmth, “She chose to stand with Deepwater City’s last resistance forces instead of locking herself in the temple waiting for outcome.

Moreover, beforehand, she tried hard to persuade all stubborn Deepwater City civilians… even those not just my followers… to choose to leave their homeland.

How difficult this was, I don’t believe you don’t know!”

“Yet the result of doing a bunch of good deeds is to speak offensively under the eyes of all gods, directly offending the neighboring lord,” Shaer judged lightly, “In the end, it was Lansendel’s Chosen who smoothed things over; don’t you find it laughable?”

The mentioned neighboring lord helplessly smiled.

This level of acid remark, he didn’t mind. But having someone willing to speak up for him was quite pleasing.

At least it proved he succeeded as a person.

‘Bang bang bang!’ The round hall of Deepwater City just newly built was utterly wrecked.

Most people’s eyes didn’t even look at the archmage who walked in wearing a black robe and monocle but at the Black Staff Tower.

Then they all sighed in regret… It hadn’t collapsed.
