Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1214: Chapter 1005: Is Teraxil Made of Gold? (Bonus Chapter)

The internal struggle did not stop her from throwing her magic wand, after all, multitasking was Laila’s talent. Although Elaströ could do a little, she could only throw two at the same time.

After all, the other hand must be used to add defensive magic to herself... And not to mention 20 meters, even at the extreme casting distance of 60 meters, she was not incapable of doing it.

Elaströ, in Nasray’s memory, probably lived about a thousand years ago?

The Supreme Lady’s silver hair fluttered in the surging waves of magic, yet she quietly sent a message to Laila: It seems that the Lord of Agleya has a bit of the Nature Lord’s talent, able to easily discern lies and good from evil?

What if he audits the accounts?

How much did you secretly spend, let me see if I can make up for it?

If worse comes to worst, I’ll open the Silver Palace’s underground treasury.

The most dangerous moment in Elaströ’s life was the time she was attacked by Samast and Nasray... Fortunately, Laila and Kelben arrived just in time to save her.

Otherwise, she would have had to wait for Mystra’s resurrection like Hillen... It wouldn’t have been hard, but it would be embarrassing.

So even though many things have happened, Elaströ shot a sidelong glance at Kelben and had to endure because of the lifesaving grace he provided.

Although she had various ways to leave a backup plan in Deepwater City, sometimes if the other side was shameless, she was also at a loss.

The main reason Laila decided to separate from Kelben was not because of all Kelben’s schemes which were intolerable to her... If Laila were really that kind, she wouldn’t have maintained good relations with so many evil factions.

The evil of Toril is truly evil, a naturally evil race like the White Dragon Queen doesn’t count.

But Laila finally realized that the combined weight of her and Kelben was suffocating Elaströ.

Even the happiness of her own daughter had to be sacrificed... Elaströ might not know that Sharol’s husband was Azuth’s biological son, but she certainly knew he was connected to Azuth.

During that period, Mystra clearly had no favorable impressions of the sisters, so it was normal for Elaströ to have backup plans.

After all, it was Azuth who took action to strip Samast of his elector status.

If... someday something went wrong on Mystra’s end, with Sharol’s husband there, considering past ties, Azuth would at least show them some favor.

Laila, having heard her sister’s secret message, couldn’t help but twitch at the corners of her mouth.

She wasn’t a madman, how could she live in a palace built by the other party, use a transcendent tower spirit provided by them to manage the entire town, and even greed for their money!

Elaströ really thought too highly of her!

Even if she wanted to, she couldn’t do it! Moreover, the taxes collected by Lord of Agleya were not high... Lord Hill only took one-third of Luskan’s annual profits.

If she schemed against such a friendly lord, it would be too greedy... eventually, she would catch the attention of a devil.

If it were another municipal officer, there might be a possibility of being spared, but for these Mistrala Electors living under various bizarre and watchful eyes... temptations were never scarce.

No devil would pass up the pleasure of luring a powerful Divine Power elector into corruption, she might be a bit impulsive but she’s certainly not stupid, right?

But... looking at her concerned sister, Laila felt warmth in her heart... The treasury under the Elaströ Silver Palace was a back-route prepared for Silvermoon City’s unpredictable future, easy to deposit but hard to withdraw.

After it was built, Elaströ never even considered opening it in the short term.

Other than a maze, there were numerous powerful magic locks, opening it once would almost exhaust Elaströ’s entire mana.

Elaströ had so many children, and all sorts of troubles endlessly emerged, yet she would rather endure the grievances of these children than open that treasury for them.

But for Laila, she was willing to go through the trouble once.

Laila smiled and shook her head at Elaströ: ”You’re overthinking it, my sister, Agleya is not only a rich lord but those Teraxil Elves also have deep pockets.

I can earn in a day what used to take decades!”

For such an Elaströ, Laila was resolute in her decision to break up with Kelben, even though she once hoped that her twins would have a bright future and turned a blind eye to whatever wrongdoings Kelben did for this future.

But this... could not and should not include her sister.

Although she was initially ignorant of everything, later on, after hearing about it, she was well aware of Elaströ’s calculations, and she quite agreed.

However... Kelben single-handedly broke the balance Elaströ painstakingly established in Silvermoon City for his own gain... What did he rely on?

Wasn’t it because she was Elaströ’s sister and because of the lifesaving grace from before?

But the one who rushed to save the person was she, Laila!

So Laila voluntarily took Sharol and Edna under her wing and cared for them considerably.

But having once been Queen of Luskan, Laila was not good at caring for those women who liked to depend on others... Sharol was clearly a capable female mage, why did she always desire a man to take care of her?

Laila, who married Kelben for lifesaving grace and love, and decided to part with him for sisterhood, had a bit of a hard time with Sharol.

So she allowed Edna to be taken away by the Undead Tribe... In any case, with Elvia around, that little girl wouldn’t suffer.

In fact, when Laila decided to join Agleya’s attack on Luskan, she didn’t think that the Lord of Agleya would actually make her the municipal officer of Luskan.

After all, everyone knew her identity... When she was younger, being a bit of a madwoman, she self-proclaimed as Queen of Luskan and even fought fiercely with her own sister was no secret.

No one knew if she left anything behind in Luskan... Those necromancers who initially controlled Luskan were particularly wary of people from Deepwater City, fearing Laila would cause trouble.

But she didn’t expect that the lord would completely disregard this, even actively withdrawing the Undead Tribe to Hidden Town upon discovering Laila’s inclination to take charge in Luskan.

For the Undead Tribe, as long as there was a route to Icewind Valley and the Underdark, they didn’t care about Luskan.

On the contrary, after much fuss, she began inviting the Undead Tribe back again.

After all, a gold coin was the most important... Even though Luskan was on the verge of becoming the next Deepwater City, with frequent merchant ship visits, the economic benefits brought by millions of undead far exceeded those brought by the ships!

Not to mention the undead... ah, the true number of Teraxil Elves.

After her Strange Objects Shop was emptied in an instant, Laila fully understood why the Lord of Agleya was so wealthy!

The mountains of their Teraxil might well be made of gold?
