Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 883: Chapter 559: The Inevitable Path

Chen Wenjun came today as well.

The head of Seapool Film and Television, Lew Qingqing’s ex-boyfriend, and he also had a past with Xu Siyao.

Zhou Yun felt a bit awkward upon seeing him.

However, Chen Wenjun’s attitude showed no sign of discomfort, and he was very enthusiastic toward Zhou Yun and Wang Jing.

Not only that, but Chen Wenjun seemed to regard Wang Jing with special interest, proactively asking her many questions, posing like a peacock displaying its feathers. Zhou Yun watched with a sense of distaste.

Zhou Yun didn’t want Wang Jing to get entangled with Chen Wenjun.

That Chen Wenjun, his girlfriends one after another were either actresses or models, with ties to the entertainment industry.

Zhou Yun thought, with so many actresses in Seapool Film and Television, why does Chen Wenjun like to harm others outside?

”I do have a project I’d like to invite Miss Wang to act in,” Chen Wenjun said, ”I wonder if Miss Wang has any available schedule later?”

Wang Jing felt a bit uneasy directly talking to a big figure like Chen Wenjun and shook her head shyly, saying, ”I really don’t know, you’d have to ask my agent.”

Chen Wenjun said, ”Then I’ll have someone communicate with your company later.”

Zhou Yun didn’t want the conversation to continue, smiled slightly, raising an inquisitive eyebrow, and said, ”President Chen, don’t put Xiao Jing in the hot seat, alright? Everyone knows Xu Siyao still harbors feelings for you, and now you’re asking Xiao Jing to take on a role. Xiao Jing and Xu Siyao are from the same company. When they meet, won’t Xiao Jing become a target of Xu Siyao’s resentment?”

Wang Jing suddenly realized.

The seemingly mature and attractive man in front of her wasn’t some unexpected good match; even Xu Siyao had a past with him.

It was as if a basin of cold water was poured over her.

Wang Jing realized she had been a bit carried away by everyone’s congratulations over the past few days, leading to such a lapse in judgment.

Afterwards, Wang Jing’s enthusiasm in talking to Chen Wenjun cooled significantly.

In fact, Zhou Yun was using this as a reminder; if she got too close to Chen Wenjun, it would upset Xu Siyao.

If Wang Jing really got entangled with Xu Siyao, Xu Siyao might not be able to deal with Zhou Yun now, but she would have no trouble handling Wang Jing.

At this point, Zhou Yun had already forgotten their initial intention was to bring Wang Jing in to upset Xu Siyao.

Back then, they hoped someone could create trouble for Xu Siyao so she wouldn’t have the energy to deal with Zhou Yun.

Who would have thought that Zhou Yun’s rise would be so swift that even Xu Siyao couldn’t keep up, let alone create trouble.

After exchanging greetings, the host announced that the awards ceremony was about to begin and asked everyone to take their seats.

Zhou Yun’s seat was at the front, while Wang Jing’s was two rows behind, not together.

Song Chi sat to Zhou Yun’s left, and Wen Bing to her right. The seating arrangement by the organizers was quite to Zhou Yun’s satisfaction.

Having attended many awards ceremonies by now, Zhou Yun finally felt truly calm and could participate with a sense of normalcy.

The Lingjun Award is an official award; tonight, despite the star-studded atmosphere, the program remained quite serious and formal.

Zhou Yun sat in the first row, with cameras occasionally turning to capture her.

In such an environment, Zhou Yun had to constantly manage her expressions, for fear that one careless moment could be caught by the cameras, resulting in a screenshot being interpreted online, rendering any explanation futile.

As is customary, the technical awards were presented first.

These awards didn’t capture as much audience attention.

However, within the industry, completing a film depends on support from various technical departments.

Zhou Yun also wanted to get to know the talented people working in different technical roles in this field.

The fourth award, Best Supporting Actress, was about to be announced.

At this point, an advertisement break was on.

The atmosphere in the venue relaxed into a brief intermission.

Wen Bing smiled and said, ”The next award might have your name on it. Do you have any thoughts on winning the Best Supporting Actress this time?”

Zhou Yun replied, ”To be honest, I haven’t watched the movies nominated alongside mine, so I don’t really know who has the best shot.”

”You haven’t watched them?” Wen Bing asked, a little surprised.

Zhou Yun nodded and said, ”I had wanted to watch them all, but I’ve been so busy and just haven’t had the time.”

Wen Bing said, ”You’ve indeed been in a lot of projects this year, spending most of your time on set.”
