Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 859: Chapter 547: Lingering Fear

After Zhou Yun and Song Chi finished their call, Zhou Lan hesitated before looking at Zhou Yun and asked, ”Xiao Yun, are you serious about what you just said?”

Zhou Yun replied, ”I don’t know either, but with things like this, I must first assume the worst. Until the police catch Wendoc and figure out why he attacked me, I have to consider all the bad possibilities and try to protect myself as much as I can. I don’t want this kind of thing to happen again.”

Zhou Lan nodded and said, ”We’ve always arranged for bodyguards for you before, but they’ve only been following public schedules. This incident is a wake-up call for us. Times have changed. Even staying in hotels, we must check thoroughly before checking in. I’ll find a professional, preferably a female bodyguard.”

Zhou Yun said, ”That might be difficult to find.”

”I’ll start searching. Meanwhile, Xiaoju, make sure to remind Sister Xiao Yun every day about whether the safety chain is up or whether the doors and windows are locked.” Zhou Lan said. ”Moreover, there’s another thing we overlooked. When you arrive at a new place, you must inspect it before checking in to guard against hidden cameras or recording devices.”

Zheng Xiaojue was surprised and said, ”Sister Lan, when you put it this way, it suddenly feels so creepy.”

Zhou Lan shook her head, ”It’s too dangerous now, it’s us who aren’t professional enough. We know the routine well in China, but I think Xiao Yun will have more and more trips abroad in the future. How to interact with partners, everybody’s level of English proficiency, from the big picture of different countries’ partners’ habits to the small details of travel arrangements, these are areas we lack experience in, needing more learning and summarizing.”

Zheng Xiaojue nodded.

Zhou Lan suddenly thought of something and asked, ”Before, I always asked you to learn English. How’s it going now?”

”Still working hard.” Zheng Xiaojue said with a blush, feeling a bit embarrassed.

Actually, she has been putting effort into learning, but she falls short in spoken language and can’t communicate smoothly with others.

This is a common issue for many learning foreign languages.

If one can’t speak well with full confidence, they hesitate to speak, and the more they hesitate, the worse they speak.

Zhou Yun said, ”Xiaoju, you need to speak more by yourself. When you’re abroad, talk more with those foreigners, using it often will make it familiar.”

Zheng Xiaojue nodded.

”Don’t just nod.”

Zhou Lan was typing on her phone, arranging work for the team.

The situation Zhou Yun encountered here in Los Angeles, USA, has already spread back home.

On one hand, they needed to explain the matter without causing misunderstandings during the process.

On the other hand, Zhou Lan was also using this opportunity to build Zhou Yun’s ”international” image at home.

Maybe this might seem vulgar or opportunistic to others. But for her, if this approach benefits the artist, whether it’s in personal image building or career advancement, she is willing to take it.

The ”international” image is indeed a very advantageous factor for an actor.

For Chinese-language films to venture out globally, they would naturally prefer actors with higher international profiles and recognition.

Foreign films care about the Chinese market, yet they’re still released worldwide, with comprehensive consideration leading them to favor Chinese actors with higher international profiles and recognition.

Why did ”Memoirs of a Geisha” cast three Chinese-language film actresses to play Japanese geishas? Because it was an A-list Hollywood production targeting a global market, they needed actresses with international notoriety, and no Japanese actress met the criteria, so they had to turn to Chinese-language film actresses.

One film, ”Memoirs of a Geisha,” brought more than just increased international recognition to Zhang Ziyi; her Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress remains a highlight in her acting career.

Therefore, although movies are an art, filmmakers can’t only consider art.

Zhou Lan must constantly ensure Zhou Yun remains at the forefront of viewers’ and producers’ minds, negating any notion she has withdrawn from the scene.

Zhou Yun, having showered, was ready to sleep.

Tomorrow held a very important screening event.

According to Zhou Lan, Paimon invited many celebrities to attend, aiming to boost ”Behind the Scenes.” However, it’s uncertain exactly how many will come.

What can be certain is that the screening event tomorrow will definitely garner significant attention.

Everyone is currently focused on Zhou Yun’s latest activities.

Zhou Yun carefully locked the doors and windows, making sure no one could enter from outside before she allowed herself to sleep.

Yet, distressingly, she still awoke from a nightmare in the middle of the night, startled.

After waking, she sat on her bed, scrutinizing the room for a long while, then turned on the light to examine every corner, confirming the doors and windows remained tightly shut, ensuring the room was without others present, she relaxed slightly.

The events of last night, even now, brought a certain fear bubbling within her.

This fear didn’t suddenly overwhelm her to the point of trembling, but made her occasionally feel a chill down her spine, an illusion of being watched from the shadows.

Zhou Yun washed her face, trying to calm herself.

It took a whole hour for her to drift back to sleep.
