Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 860: Chapter 548: Screening Event

The day of the ”Behind the Scenes” screening.

This was originally a screening event that didn’t garner much media attention, after all, it wasn’t an English feature film, but a Chinese-language film entirely performed by Chinese actors.

Even though it won the Cannes Film Festival’s grand prize, even though it was praised by many film critics.

However, Zhou Yun’s news suddenly brought attention from almost all media outlets to this screening.

Because everyone wanted to know about Zhou Yun.

Especially... after that incident, Zhou Yun’s latest movements.

Zhou Yun prepared her look at the hotel, ready to set off.

Shi Luoqi was fashionably late.

She’s been very busy lately, not even monitoring the screening event here in Los Angeles, not sure what she’s been busy with.

Of course, this screening event was initially handled by Paimon’s team.

Previously, there was a dispute between Zhou Yun’s side and Bruce from Paimon over styling during a video call.

Bruce even accused them of not understanding what Americans truly like.

The result was that the video call made Zhou Yun popular in the US, completely embarrassing Bruce.

Zhou Yun thought Bruce might replace himself with someone else for coordination due to previous disputes and dissatisfaction, but unexpectedly, Bruce arrived at the hotel early in the morning, complimenting her beauty without mentioning yesterday’s issues, smiling all the while.

Just how much attention is Zhou Yun getting now?

When she set off from the hotel, there were quite a few people waiting for her appearance.

Cameras, video cameras, phones, and so on.

For a brief moment, she thought she wasn’t abroad but on her home turf, in her own country.

Many people shouted ”Yun” in broken English, pronouncing it oddly, but Zhou Yun knew they were calling her.

Luckily, it seemed that Paimon had anticipated such situations today, arranging security in advance.

Otherwise, it might have been impossible to even get out of the hotel door.

Zhou Yun got into the car, watching the still crowded crowd through the window filming and shouting at her, not feeling bothered, but pondering whether there might be One Day she’d gain such fame from her films instead of from news.

But that’s too difficult. She knows how hard it is. During college, she heard about some things in the academic circle. It’s not just the entertainment industry; virtually every industry faces some form of suppression worldwide, whether explicit or implicit. Many scholars ranked in the top 3 in other countries appear to hold high prestige in academia, with respected status, yet many places still subject them to discrimination and limitations. Universities won’t provide the resources they deserve, and academia has its own factions.

Precisely because she knows this, Zhou Yun understands more clearly that in this field of fame, unless the environment changes significantly, nobody can overcome the limitations of discrimination and remain unscathed.

Just like back in the day, Zhang Ziyi reached the highest position a Chinese actor could, being called ”China’s gift to Hollywood” or making a splash in the award season once, or presenting at the Oscar ceremonies twice consecutively, yet none of this could bring her better film offers or career development resources.

This is also why Zhou Yun supports Song Chi in opening a film company.

No matter how successful an actor becomes, they’re still in a position of being chosen.

Only by truly mastering the ability and resources to produce a project can one truly change the environment.

The power of speech is inferior to the power of action, an actor’s attitude is inferior to a producer’s attitude.

For the industry, even though a celebrity’s voice might dominate for a period, it’s merely market and capital empowerment. With careful thinking, it’s clear this can’t truly last long.

Zhou Lan sat beside Zhou Yun, noticing Zhou Yun deep in thought for a long time, she couldn’t help but ask, ”What are you thinking about?”

Zhou Yun came to her senses, shook her head, and chuckled, ”Not thinking about anything, just a bit distracted. Sister Lan, have you ever thought of starting your own company?”

”Starting my own company?” Zhou Lan seemed a bit surprised by Zhou Yun suddenly asking such a question, but she still answered seriously, ”I have thought about it, but starting your own company requires great strength and faces significant risks. If not for weighing the pros and cons, I wouldn’t have negotiated cooperation terms with He Yong. No matter how good those terms may be, being attached to someone else’s banner, relying on others, is never as good as being independent.”
