Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 861: Chapter 548: Screening Event (Part 2)

Zhou Yun nodded.

”Are domestic film companies investing a lot in foreign films now?” Zhou Yun asked.

”It’s been gradually increasing over the past few years,” Zhou Lan said. ”Why? Are you interested too?”

Zhou Yun shook his head and said, ”I just feel that I’ve made some money in recent years, and if I come across a good script that can’t find investors and the costs aren’t high, I actually want to try investing.”

Zhou Lan heard this and said, ”If you have this idea, I can help you look into it. Actually, there are indeed quite a few private investors in films now. Of course, the primary goal of independent investors in films is often not to make money. They earn more from other investments, and it’s much safer.”

In the world of films, investment can be either a drought or a flood.

For films with good profit prospects, even if you have money, they won’t let you play; they won’t distribute shares like dividing pork.

In projects where you can’t see the profit, no matter if you have money, you don’t dare to invest. No one’s money falls from the sky. Even though there might be a heart to support the arts, one cannot engage in a losing business.

Zhou Lan reminded, ”But I suggest you start by testing the waters. The depths here are too deep.”

Zhou Yun nodded, ”It’s just a sudden thought.”

”Is Wendoc still not found?” Zhou Yun asked Zhou Lan. ”Are the Los Angeles police this inefficient?”

”Yeah, still not found. The embassy is involved too, helping us connect with Los Angeles. However, since there’s such a big focus on this issue in the United States now, the police probably wouldn’t dare slack off.”

Zhou Yun: ”Cristina should have his contact, right?”

Zhou Lan: ”It’s useless; Wendoc’s phone is already off. Otherwise, we would have located his phone to find him.”

This is the United States, and they could only rely on the police here to catch Wendoc.

”Ah!” Zhou Lan suddenly exclaimed while holding her phone.

”What is it?” Zhou Yun asked.

Zhou Lan said, ”I was looking on Weibo and saw someone photographed Song Chi at the airport. The boarding gate he’s at is for an outbound flight. Many people are saying he’s here to find you. Did he tell you he was coming to the U.S.?”

Zhou Yun shook her head and said, ”No, that’s impossible. He’s currently filming a movie. Why would he come over?”

”Should you check with him just in case? He might have seen the news, worried about you, and came over. It’s not impossible,” Zhou Lan said. ”The comments online sound pretty convincing, not like they’re made up.”

Zhou Yun thought for a moment and decided to call Song Chi.

She picked up her phone to call Song Chi.

But it said Song Chi’s phone was temporarily unreachable.

”Huh?” Zhou Yun heard the mechanical voice prompt and said, ”He might have really come. Since I can’t get through, he should have turned on flight mode.”

Zhou Lan sighed happily and said, ”Then there’s nothing we can do. If he’s already on the plane, there’s no point in telling him not to come.”

Zhou Yun frowned with worry, ”He won’t cause trouble for the crew, right?”

”He’s been in the industry way longer than you and never heard of him being irresponsible or unprofessional. Even if he came, he must have coordinated with the crew. You shouldn’t worry too much,” Zhou Lan said. ”In the entertainment industry, seeing so many fake faces, Song Chi is truly a good person.”

”Sister Lan, you always praise Song Chi so much; did he send you a red envelope?”

Zhou Lan laughed and said, ”You guys really should give me a red envelope. I’m so nice. I never stopped you two from dating. Some agents would break up couples.”

”That’s because I’m dating him, and I get the benefits,” Zhou Yun was well aware of this and never denied it.

Zhou Lan: ”We must admit before, that was a benefit, but it wasn’t something we intentionally sought. If a piece of gold falls in front of you, wouldn’t you pick it up? The key is that now you’re doing well too. Who can say who’s benefiting from whom? People outside who talk nonsense can’t get the benefits themselves, so they’re bitter. But two people helping each other, both gaining, is such a good thing.”

Zhou Yun laughed.

Finally, they arrived.

It was crowded outside.

So many people.

Zhou Yun was stunned.

She had not expected a film screening event to attract so much attention in a foreign country.

These were ordinary people, not media reporters or event guests, so they could only stand outside the venue to catch a glimpse of their idols during the brief moment when guests entered.

Zhou Yun’s car stopped at the entrance, with about four or five meters between the drop-off point and the venue.

The staff had cleared a path inside the crowd surging along both sides.

In front of her, invited guests were greeting and waving at the people on both sides, the shouts rising in waves.

The moment Zhou Yun stepped out of the car, the shouts grew more intense.

But most of the shouts were indeed ”Go for it” or ”We support you.”

Zhou Yun nodded and waved in acknowledgement before entering the venue with the protection of bodyguards.

Inside, there was a red carpet photo area.

After entering the venue, there was a waiting area, and there were many people there, including several guests invited by Paimon, who were chatting and laughing.

Once she entered, many eyes were on her.

A lot of them gazed at her kindly, greeting her from a distance, but no one approached her to greet her right away.

Zhou Yun maintained her smile.

After a while, Bruce walked over and said, ”Zhou Yun, please wait a little longer. Our original plan was to let everyone else enter, and then you can go in.”

Zhou Yun nodded.

And she ended up waiting for half an hour.

Zhou Lan angrily complained, ”If they decided we would enter last, why schedule departure so early?”

Zhou Yun said, ”It’s okay, Sister Lan, we’re new here, let’s wait.”

Gradually, some people came over to greet her.

Zhou Yun chatted with those who came up to greet her, but Cristina was nowhere in sight.

She asked, ”Has Cristina already gone inside?”

Zhou Lan went to find out for her.

”Cristina couldn’t come because of a schedule change in her filming.” Zhou Lan came back with the news.

Zhou Yun frowned in surprise.

She initially thought she could meet Cristina today and talk about Wendoc.

Unexpectedly, she couldn’t make it at the last minute.

At this moment, someone suddenly approached her and said, ”Hi, Zhou Yun, we meet again!”

Zhou Yun looked up.

It was Qiao Anshan.
