Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 862: Chapter 549: Steady and Down-to-Earth

”Hi.”

Zhou Yun didn’t expect Qiao Anshan to be here too.

This Chinese-American actor who looks down on Chinese-language films and always considers himself a Hollywood celebrity, stands before Zhou Yun with a poised and self-assured demeanor.

He exuded a certain deliberate celebrity vibe.

Zhou Yun gave him a polite smile and said, ”So you came too.”

Qiao Anshan said, ”This is Los Angeles, of course I had to come.”

His tone was smug, as if Los Angeles was his home turf.

Zhou Yun suppressed the discomfort in her heart, maintaining a gentle and socially polite smile.

Qiao Anshan suddenly had a thought, his eyes shifted, ”By the way, I heard Dickey is preparing a hero movie with a Chinese Warrior as the lead. Did you receive an invitation?”

Zhou Yun said, ”I’ve already taken other roles and don’t have time.”

Qiao Anshan looked at her in surprise.

”You turned down that movie?”

Zhou Yun shook her head, ”The movie didn’t approach me, but even if it did, I wouldn’t have the time to shoot it. So, I wouldn’t be in that movie.”

Qiao Anshan immediately laughed.

”I thought you really turned it down.”

”There’s no difference.”

”Trust me, if the invitation truly reached you, you wouldn’t be able to refuse,” Qiao Anshan said seriously, ”No actor can turn down the opportunity to become famous worldwide.”

”Not every actor considers being known worldwide as their life’s top priority.”

”You’ve had it too easy in China. I’ve heard stories about you. In just three years, you’ve become China’s top actress,” Qiao Anshan said, ”But, although China’s film market is the world’s second largest, Hollywood still dominates the industry internationally.”

”Do all Hollywood folks have arrogance like yours?”

”It’s a recognized fact.”

”That’s only a fact based on your values and standards,” Zhou Yun slightly raised her chin, not backing down in the slightest.

Qiao Anshan laughed and asked, ”If that’s not the case, then why did you come to Los Angeles for the ’Behind the Scenes’ promotional event?”

Zhou Yun also laughed, asking, ”If Hollywood truly dominates the film industry, why did you go out of your way to come to China for roles?”

Qiao Anshan’s expression changed.

Recently, Qiao Anshan had indeed been in contact with Chinese film production companies.

The reason is simple, he hadn’t received good opportunities in the US, mostly appearing as a supporting role in film and TV works.

No company was willing to offer him a leading role; here, nearly no project is eager to use an Asian as the lead.

The Asian-led projects that gained popularity in the past two years were generally initially underestimated projects.

And if it’s a major production with Asian roles, Hollywood companies, considering the international market, would prioritize actors more popular in various Asian countries.

For example, in the Chinese Warrior-themed movie, when Qiao Anshan first heard about it, he thought his chance had finally come.

However, the producers didn’t even consider him and directly prepared to cast in China.

That’s the world’s second-largest market; no one can ignore it.

Zhou Yun and Qiao Anshan’s conversation was not pleasant.

Before Qiao Anshan approached Zhou Yun, he didn’t expect her attitude to be so strong.

In the past, Qiao Anshan met many celebrities coming from China in the US. In front of them, he had a certain sense of superiority. And such superiority has never been as directly confronted as it was today.

Zhou Yun didn’t hold back at all, uncovering his self-assumed pride.

In fact, actors like Qiao Anshan aren’t rare among Chinese-Americans.

Are they truly unaware of China’s developments over the years?

Not necessarily.

But they’ve already settled and worked in the US, they may not actually be living happily. Not to mention, discrimination against Asians isn’t reduced just because you’re an actor.

Otherwise, why would Qiao Anshan seek acting opportunities in China?

However, they crave the vanity obtained from comparisons, to prove how right their choice of staying in the US was.

Unfortunately, he met Zhou Yun.

Zhou Yun is a genuine person, without any sense of inferiority.
