My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2251: Chapter 2084: Loneliness

Now I can only quietly lean on the sofa alone, recalling those little moments and remembering the words you once said to me.

Old Master Zhang is staying in the hospital room, and every day he spends there is not happy at all. He is waiting for the person he hopes for to come to see him, but as he waits day after day, that person still doesn’t turn back; he knows that he may never be able to see his son again in this lifetime.

Although he says he doesn’t want his son to return to his side because of this matter, what father wouldn’t secretly hope for it in their heart? She longs for such a thing too, but it is so difficult. Why does such a thing happen to her? All she wants is the company of family members. For so many years, her son has never been by her side. Even when she is critically ill, he refuses to even show up. In her son’s mind, how much does he hate his father?

The more the old man thinks about it, the more it hurts him. He is such a proud person and has never felt this distressed before. What he wants is really not much, just what he desires, never achievable. All he has ever wanted is a perfect life, but this life seems so difficult to her. He cannot get his son’s forgiveness, and his wife left too early, leaving him all alone.

It was hard enough for his son to settle down and start a career, yet he unexpectedly abandoned their family, wandering alone. This was a heavier blow to him. He never imagined his son would leave his side so decisively, without even looking back. How did he fail so much as a father, to the point where even his own son despises him? Did he as a father show himself to be so useless?

As she thought about it, tears rolled down her cheeks. She cried; for the first time, she felt heartbroken because of her son’s actions. No matter what Zhentian did in the past, he could overlook and easily forgive him. But this time, her heart was truly hurt beyond repair. She’s already in critical condition in the hospital, and yet her son still refuses to bow his head and return to her side. To him, is this father really so undeserving?

Zhang Yichen and Ran Zhihan brought the dishes they prepared to the hospital. When they saw their grandfather sitting on the bed with tears in his eyes, they understood what he was thinking. They also knew the pain in their grandfather’s heart, but they couldn’t speak, nor did they know how to choose. Maybe, in their grandfather’s eyes, he was merely trying to keep the last shred of dignity. He didn’t want his final dignity to be trampled by his own son, humiliation upon humiliation, done by his own son, something no father could accept.

”Grandpa, we’ve made some delicious food for you. You must take good care of your health now, eat more good food every day. When you’re healthy and discharged, that’s when we’ll give you a surprise. You have to stay healthy waiting for that surprise, it’s what you’ve dreamed of, and has been long overdue.”

Grandpa, this family is so large, and there are so many responsibilities. I need you to help me with them. You can’t keep lazing around in the hospital. That would make me look down on Grandpa. Although you’ve always loved me, I also hope you can help me out well, don’t leave me busy and bustling alone. When I’m alone and busy, it truly makes me feel scared, without anyone familiar by my side. You know? I hope my grandpa will always be with me. It’s the biggest wish of my life!”

Old Master Zhang smiled. He knew his grandson was only saying these words to make him happy. She knows that, in her grandson’s heart, she’s still quite important. If one day she really leaves this world, then her grandson will bear all the pain alone; he would be enduring so much, she must strive to live a few more years, not let such a thing happen to her grandson. At least let him thoroughly accept the fact that she’s not long for this world; then she can peacefully leave.

”You child have such a sweet mouth. All these years, no matter what you do, Grandpa knows what kind of person you are. Yichen’s heart is also very clear. Over these years, the suffering you’ve endured, the hardships you’ve passed, Grandpa knows this better than anyone. Grandpa watched you grow up with his own eyes. He understands better than anyone each difficult step you’ve taken. If it weren’t for Grandpa being so harsh on you when you were young, if you hadn’t been tortured since you were little, experienced hardships, how could you so young already understand so many truths others can’t? Because you’ve lived more burdened than anyone else, borne more pain than anyone else, yet you’ve never spoken about it, because you know it’s better to transform your pain into strength and move forward. Only by doing so can you make those who abandoned you once truly realize how wrong they were, how brainless their decision to abandon you was. You want others to know, so you prove time and again in adversity that you are the strongest person. Thus, you’ve endured all the pains that others cannot endure. You’ve grown, but along this growth journey, you’ve encountered things others might never experience. Grandpa has seen it all with his own eyes!”

Each time you come back home burdened, you always feel Grandpa doesn’t care about your injuries. But, Grandpa’s heart is truly aching for you. Don’t think every time Grandpa sees you covered in wounds and remains indifferent. Actually, Grandpa just wants you to know that whenever you’re hurt, you can only rely on yourself to heal. Others are unreliable because eventually, they will leave you, and one day, they won’t be by your side. So you can only rely on yourself, grow strong independently; only then can you avoid being looked down upon by anyone, and prevent those who once abandoned you from ever believing again that their original decision was correct...”

Back then, our hearts slowly drifted apart, leaving a scar that will never heal!
