My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2255: Chapter 2088: No Way Out

I never thought about whether I would regret it later, I know there’s no right or wrong in love.

”Yichen, there’s a mystery in my heart that’s been buried there for three whole years. I want to ask you, but I never knew how to start the conversation. Now I feel I must ask, to prevent any barriers from growing between us in the future!” Ran Zhihan sighed as she spoke to Zhang Yichen.

Zhang Yichen didn’t understand what question Ran Zhihan might have for him. He wasn’t sure whether this would be good news or bad news; he could only choose to listen to Ran Zhihan’s question: ”If you have any questions, just ask me directly, now that we’re officially a couple, there shouldn’t be anything hidden between us. We should be open with each other, so just say what’s on your mind, don’t worry about how to ask me. Is there really anything we can’t talk about between us?”

”There’s nothing like that, I’ve just never understood why, despite all these years passing, you are still unwaveringly by my side taking care of me. Is it truly because you love me?”

Zhang Yichen thought Ran Zhihan must be crazy to ask such a silly question!

”Oh my god! Are you stupid? If it wasn’t because I love you, how could I possibly stay by your side incessantly for three whole years? You know during these three years, seeing you during unemployment, while my mind is filled with all our past memories—do you know what kind of torment that is for me? I couldn’t directly tell you everything between us before, I could only watch you innocently smile in front of me—do you know your smile pierces my heart? Watching your innocent, pure smile, while I carry all our memories and live on, you forgot everything before, but my heart has always remembered. I regained my memory much faster than you, and because of that, I endured three years of painful memories—that agonizing three years were truly tormenting! Even now, whenever I think of the scenarios three years ago, I still feel scared inside. Every time I think about those three years in the past, there’s an unspeakable bitterness in my heart! Hearing you ask this question made me feel like you must be out of your mind, how could you ask me such an idle question? If it’s not because I love you that I’m with you, then why am I with you? How can you casually ask this without considering the issue? How old are you, even asking such naive questions—I’m truly in awe of your foolishness beyond words!”

”Oh come on, can’t you see I’m feeling awful, so I want to clear things up? If you’re not with me because you love me, then I absolutely wouldn’t want to live my life with you, because I don’t want to marry and bear children with a man who doesn’t love me—that would be too painful for me. Our happiness relies on both of us to maintain it; if one of us lies to the other, then their marriage would break apart! Let’s promise never to lie to each other for as long as we live, okay? Lies really can hurt the feelings between us!”

”Fool, I will never deceive you, because you are the woman I love most deeply in this life...” Zhang Yichen said gently as he caressed Ran Zhihan’s head.

”Actually, sometimes I hope I never regain my memory, because then I don’t have to make any choices. You know how much I fear losing you, how much I fear being separated from you. I’ve long gotten used to having you by my side, if you’re gone, how could I continue living—I don’t know myself. But sometimes time forces people to make choices; we’ve been together for so many years, maybe in the next three years we might let each other down. If that day really comes, what would I do alone? I so wish I could forever see you by my side, I don’t want you to leave, because after you leave, do you know how much pain my heart would feel? Sometimes I fantasize, if one day the man I love suddenly leaves me or doesn’t want me anymore, what would I do? Every time my imagination runs wild, tears uncontrollably fill my eyes. I used to think if a day comes when I’ve lost you, I might choose to say goodbye to this world! Because life without you is really hard to bear—I fear you’ll leave me one day, so before you do, I can only muster the courage to choose to leave you first. I can’t bear to see your back as you walk away from me...”

”I say, are you crazy, you’re absolutely beyond cure! We’ve loved each other for so many years; after ten hard years of searching we finally found each other—I would never easily give you up! My love for you is unshaken by the most catastrophic events, you should trust me more and stop doubting our relationship constantly, because love cannot withstand any doubt or lies—we need to collectively preserve what we have! These past few days, I’ve truly felt your meticulous care, constantly whispering your promises to me because you’re scared I’ll leave you—that fear comes from the heart, can’t be faked by acting—I believe it’s your genuine heart speaking. So no matter what you said or did in the past, I won’t blame you, because you are the woman I love most deeply in my life.”

”Darling, when you recover and leave the hospital, let’s officially get married; I don’t want our relationship to suffer any more ups and downs, I cannot handle it anymore!”

Zhang Yichen felt like his ears must be hearing things—how could his woman suddenly propose marriage? This had never happened before!

”Did I hear wrong? You actually initiated and suggested that we should get married—weren’t you adamantly refusing to marry me before? Did you know upon hearing this sentence, my sickness feels immediately healed, and I’m so afraid you’ll regret again and decide not to be with me? These times with you are the happiest moments of my life, and hearing you say this is the most unforgettable experience of my life...”

”I’m sorry, I was too self-willed before which caused you so much harm, please forgive me. Rest assured, from today on I will never leave you again, no matter what hardships we face in the future—we’ll face them together. I will never leave you alone and miserable again, as long as you truly take care of me, I’ll be willing to spend my life with you until we’re old!”

Zhang Yichen excitedly embraced Ran Zhihan, but at that moment his wound started bleeding again!

I gave you my true heart, yet you treated it like a game. I thought love meant always together, never imagining that upon loving until the end, there’s no retreat!
