My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2280: Chapter 2113: Taking a Stroll

The hardships of life are not something everyone can understand; many conclusions are reached only after repeated sacrifices.

Ran Zhihan originally thought that leaving the man she loved would mean everything could go as she wished. However, she couldn’t have imagined what kind of ending awaited her after leaving Zhang Yichen.

Just a few days after Ran Zhihan left Zhang Yichen, she found herself unable to go on. She searched everywhere for the job she wanted, but no one dared to hire her. The response she received was always the same: ”Sorry, the president said that if we hire you privately, our company will face bankruptcy, so we apologize...”

Every time she heard such words, her heart would break. Only now did she truly understand what it meant to wield money like a demon. The feeling of having money was indeed fabulous; it can make anyone do her bidding and tread endlessly on the poor. Now she understood that if she had carefully considered her decisions before making that choice, today’s desperate situation might have been avoided. Ran Zhihan wished she could go back to her beloved man, but would it help? After thinking it over, she finally swallowed her pride and sought out her ex-boyfriend.

When Zhang Yichen saw Ran Zhihan come to find him, he was quite curious. Wasn’t this the woman who said she couldn’t? How come she’s back now?

”Well, who is this? Isn’t this my ex-girlfriend? Who was it that said she could do just fine without me? Who claimed she didn’t need me by her side? How has she fallen to such a state? She even wears patchy jeans (not those fashionable ones)—looks like you’re doing quite well now. What brings you back now, to show off how happy you are?” Zhang Yichen truly lived up to his title of economic emperor, speaking without regard for others’ feelings, only knowing how to attack others with his words. Maybe that’s exactly why he can stand firm in such a ruthless society, not allowing anyone to harm his company, nor letting anyone threaten him.

Ran Zhihan felt a surge of anger as she heard this: ”What’s the point? You’ve deliberately announced to the world that I’m not your girlfriend anymore. You’ve deliberately told everyone not to allow me to work at their company just to cut off my financial resources and avenge me. Is this really appropriate?”

”You see, what are you saying? A few days ago you were quite assertive about breaking up with me, weren’t you? Didn’t you say you could live better without me? Didn’t you claim you didn’t care about me and weren’t with me for money? Since you don’t value money, why bother to earn any? I’m just helping you by proving you can live without money, didn’t I? Am I wrong? You were right about one thing; yes, I am avenging you. Recall when you steadfastly insisted on separating from me a few days ago. I warned you that unless you didn’t let me catch the chance, I would definitely avenge you, and leave you with no options, severing any economic resources until you and your parents can’t survive in this world. Now I’ve fulfilled my promise. But why can’t you keep yours? Didn’t you vow never to beg me? Are you back now to plead for my forgiveness?”

”You’re funny—I have no reason to beg you; I didn’t do anything wrong. Just because you have money and are an economic emperor, must I comply with you? Everyone is equal—even if you have more money, you’re still just a person...”

”True, you’re correct; even if I am exceedingly wealthy, everyone should indeed be equal. But people are divided into classes, and you are at the bottom, while I am the high society elite. I have money, and you don’t. With my wealth and power, I can forever keep you under my heel, leaving you unable to rise. Is what I’m doing wrong? After nearly twenty years of life, haven’t you understood the cruelty of society? I am showing you just how brutal this world is; instead of thanking me, you blame me. I’m doing you a great favor—you’ve gained freedom by leaving me, while my world has collapsed from losing you. Isn’t that revenge against me? But because of your departure, I realized you’re just a vain woman, and the people I despise most are those who covet riches. Given that, why can’t I retaliate in my own way? Everything I’ve done today is revenge against you!”

”And you, like this, wish me to beg you? On what basis?” Ran Zhihan asked in a muddled rage.

”On what basis indeed? You implied earlier that you didn’t make a mistake; does that mean I did? I really want to ask, what is your heart made of? My grandfather paid dearly for your studies in the United States, expecting you to return and treat me so harshly? I cared for you during your three years of amnesia, and yet, once you regained your memory, you cruelly abandoned me. Do you think that’s my fault? Actually, many things aren’t as complicated as you think. You made them complex yourself, using convoluted thoughts against me, forcing me to seek revenge. Without it, I can’t find peace. Throughout my life, I’ve faced much oppression and bullying; I chose to prove I’m stronger, and I succeeded. But with you, I choose vengeance because I completely surpass you. Even your study abroad degree was obtained through my family’s money—do you still have any pride left? Since you’ve chosen to leave, kindly repay all the money and favors my family extended for your overseas education...”

”Are you trying to drive me to death?”

”Don’t make it sound so harsh—I couldn’t bear to drive you to death. After all, you’re my ex-girlfriend, the one who cruelly abandoned me. I’ll ensure you can neither live nor die, watching as I push you step by step to despair, forcing you to return on your knees, begging for my forgiveness...”

”Alright then, since you’ve said all this, let’s see how it plays out. Even if I must die, I won’t beg you!”

”Remember your words!”

Zhang Yichen only wanted to test the feelings they shared during those three amnesiac years, but the result devastated him; his girlfriend had heartlessly abandoned him, which he couldn’t accept.

If Ran Zhihan knew what would happen next, she would never have forsaken her beloved.

The journey of life is a collection of pride from deep within our hearts and the sadness hidden inside.
