My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2252: Chapter 2085: Mistaken Love

I don’t believe that your love for me is misguided, and I’m even more unwilling to believe that we missed each other this way!

Old Master Zhang really never expected that his own son would come to him for help again today because of this matter. It’s been so many years, and never before has he humbled himself like this to plead with him. This is the first time, and once again it’s for that so-called wife of his. Clearly, that woman no longer wants him, so why does he keep using that woman to hurt himself? Is it possible that in his son’s eyes, being a father is really so insignificant? After giving so much, not only does he get no word of thanks, but he is repeatedly hurt. What sins did he commit in his past life to deserve such a son in this life, tormenting him so?

”Do you know that saying these things to me today really saddens my heart? He’s already treated you like that, yet you still treat her this way. I’ve been so good to you, why don’t you know how to repay your own father properly? Don’t you realize that every decision you make causes immense pain for those who care about you and love you? She clearly has no feelings left for you, yet you’re so deeply obsessed. What are you willing to do for her?”

Zhang Zhentian knew that his father would never easily agree to help him, so he came well-prepared. He was determined to make his father willingly help him, without expecting any return. However, this only intensified his guilt towards his father.

”Dad, deep down, you know that matters of the heart can’t be forced. Just like when you gave up so much to be with my mother, I can now give up everything for the one I love. She once sacrificed so much for me, how can I just abandon her because of him? I admit that I was confused at the time when I abandoned her based on his lie. I didn’t foresee the consequences, nor did I expect that after so many years, she still wouldn’t forgive me.”

”Since others don’t want to forgive you, why do you insistently cling to them? Don’t you realize this makes you seem so lacking in principles? If you’ve made a decision, don’t think about regretting it later. If you will regret it, then don’t act on it. Every time you act so recklessly, yet after you act you think about regretting it. Do you think there are countless remedies for regret available to you? Are there really so many people who can be repeatedly hurt by you and still forgive you over and over? Others aren’t Saints; they just hope you’ll treat them well. Even if your love isn’t the sincerest, at least maintain the appearance. But you don’t even bother with appearances. Do you think this is fair to those who love you?”

”I know my decision today saddens these people, but what can I do? Who hasn’t been selfish for their love? I just hope to attain my love. I heartlessly abandoned her, only to realize afterward that I can’t live without her. Yet, because of my pride, I’m afraid to ask her back. But as time passed, I realized I can’t truly let go of her. But she was in so much pain because of me; why should I give up a lifelong love for a small matter?”

Old Master Zhang was really speechless about his son. The one who insisted on breaking up, was him, and now he wants her back. What does he expect his father to do? Many things can’t be done, yet for his sake, he did them without hesitation. But in the end, it’s always like this. Should they help him again now? Will it only result in being hurt again?

”I really don’t know how to help you with this, because I can’t be sure you won’t repeat the past, hurting the trust we have in you. Others may ignore every mistake you’ve made, but I can’t, because I personally brought you up to be like this. I let you make so many mistakes, again and again, and yet you still don’t know how to answer. Coming to me now only proves you can’t let her go, not that you truly know your fault. Do you know how much pain your father feels each time you plead for a woman? Have you ever considered me? Why are you so selfish to your father?”

”Dad, I’m sorry, I have no way around this. I just hope to continue living with her. Maybe my decision surprised you all, but it’s impossible for me to give her up. Without her, I have no desire to live. Without her, what’s the point of living? Without her, I might as well not live, then neither of us would suffer. Right? I thought of many ways to be with her, but I found it’s not easy. We overcame many difficulties to be together, but then, because of a small lie, I tried to abandon her, and it pained her deeply.”

”Did you think about how pained your father feels every time you do these things? You always consider her feelings, but what am I to you? I just hope you’ll consider things from my perspective and care about my feelings too. But today, I absolutely won’t help you. Even if you kneel on the ground today begging me, I absolutely won’t help. You need to learn to bear your own mistakes, to save yourself. I can’t help you for a lifetime, nor do I have the energy to keep doing these things for you!”

Sorrow is not a momentary thing; it accumulates over time.
