My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2289: Chapter 2122: The Road of Loyalty, Chosen by Oneself

Who would let their life follow a path that brings them pain? It’s simply a powerless outcome.

”Child, do you know? The most important thing between a couple is loyalty. If there’s no loyalty, then the collapse of the marriage is not far away. I once forgot what loyalty means, didn’t know what it truly is, and I hurt the one who loved me the most. This is my greatest regret in life. I kept making decisions, why do I always end up hurting those who love me the most? Why can’t I keep those who love me by my side, and instead, I keep pushing them away, making them leave me? My heart hurts so much, sometimes I’m numb. I don’t know what kind of life I want. I don’t know what kind of person I want to love. I only know that I miss him so very much. Even during the years with your father, I still deeply miss him.

You might think that I, as a mother, am a bit fickle, not loyal to my husband, but do you know? He loves me so much, he gave his entire world for me. I’m not heartless, I can feel it, how could I wish for things to end up like this?

Everything in this world is fair. Whatever you do will bring consequences. The cycle of cause and effect is inevitable. The mistakes I made will eventually come back to haunt me, no matter how big or small. They all turn into retribution, spinning above my head, leaving me without a way to recover for the rest of my life. My only regret is why I did those things, why I hurt the one who loved me so deeply. I’ve lost everything, my world has already collapsed. Even though there was some love with your father during that time, ultimately he wasn’t the one I loved the most.

Child, remember, no matter what difficulties you face, no matter what temptations arise, do not betray the one who loves you the most.

Neither love nor marriage can withstand any betrayal. Once betrayal occurs, marriage will face its demise!

During that time, I was waiting day and night for him to reply to my messages. I set all his messages as a priority. I was waiting day by day, staring at my phone day and night. I hoped he would send me a message, even if it were to scold me, but in the end, I received nothing. It was at that moment I realized I had truly lost him, lost the whole world!

I begged her not to delete me repeatedly, to leave me with at least a bit of connection, but he mercilessly abandoned everything about me. I was utterly desperate, facing this world that I couldn’t see anything in. I only knew my mind had lost all motivation. I knew my heart had been completely hollowed out. I saw only darkness in my work— the realm of death!”

Only Zhang Yichen’s mother opened up and shared these heartfelt words with him. He was even more incredulous, never thinking his parents had such a loving relationship, not realizing it was all a facade. His mother had long since had a first love, and that first love gave her what she called everything. He never thought his mother’s life was so fulfilling, never imagined her life spent this way.

Perhaps, as everyone says, only an individual can understand every consequence that life brings. He doesn’t know what fate he will face, only knowing that perhaps the way he’s living his life may leave him without any way to change it forever, as everyone lives so laboriously and tiredly.

”Mom, did you originally think he was moving too fast for you to keep up, and you were always trying to follow in his footsteps, thinking that as long as you clung to his angle, you could stay with him forever? But you didn’t realize that when you gave up all of your principles, gave up everything you cared about, you would lie to your family again and again just to be with him. Yet, in the end, you still lost him, and only after losing him did you understand that he was your most important. You always longed to be with him for life, but you didn’t expect that fate would not be on your side. The heavens brought you such suffering. You only wanted peaceful companionship by his side, but ultimately, fate took that chance away, leaving you with no way for the rest of your life!

Deep down, you understand that even if you had kept up with his steps, he might not have been yours. Everything was uncertain unless you could have gotten engaged, stepped into the halls of marriage, committed for life. Even if your feelings were strong, you could have eventually broken up, but you didn’t realize how deep you had fallen until now when everything about you is caught up, and you just want to see him a little more. Seeing him happy makes you happy, and seeing him in pain hurts your heart more than anyone else’s.

Yet you ultimately lost him, losing him was a destined outcome, but you can never forget him. He’s forever imprinted in your mind. All the happiness he brought you, his love, all he sacrificed has been branded on your heart, unless you can change your own heart, or when you enter the grave, can you forget all this, but I guess you wouldn’t want to forget, would you?”

”You’re right, I will never forget for the rest of my life. I will forever engrave all the love he gave me onto my heart. I will not change my heart. When I lay to rest, I will still hold all of it in my heart, because he is the only one I ever loved. Perhaps my love was too rampant, turning everything into disastrous chaos, yet no one knows that every road I walked is branded in my mind and can never be forgotten.

I walked every path alone. Every route we took together fills my mind with his silhouette, erasing every possible trace. His every movement comes from the heart. Who could understand that kind of pain, a pain that can never be forgotten for a lifetime? And in this lifetime, I’d rather live with the pain than ever forget him!”

We are both struggling, why make it difficult for each other?
