My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2259: Chapter 2092: Nothing Different

In my heart, it’s your face that brings me my current smile.

”Even such a small request, you can’t promise me, can you dare say your heart still loves me as it once did? Back then, I know I really wronged you, but you should understand every decision I made at that time was out of necessity. Is it really so unforgivable in your heart? Is it so hard for you to forgive me once? What do you want me to do for you to come back to my side?” Zhang Zheng was practically furious. Saying this sentence was practically roaring. He couldn’t endure such a result. He just wanted his wife to come back to his side. Why did it seem so hard in his eyes? Would even such a small request make his wife feel so hard to accept?

”I really don’t know what to say to you, the one who ruthlessly left me, the one who ruthlessly abandoned me was you. Now you come say these things to me, do you think there’s any meaning? Do you not feel ashamed saying this? The one who repeatedly made mistakes was not me, making me the scapegoat was not me either, it was you. You threw me to the cliff’s edge time and again, you made me pay all costs for you over and over, but what did you ultimately give me, abandonment and hurt, or did you bring me some greater benefits and advantages?

Did you have any sense of what you did yourself? With the mistakes you made, why do you keep thinking I should pay for them? I’m not your slave. All I want is a simple, happy life. In your eyes, it’s simply not an easy thing, but I really don’t demand much, so why can’t you satisfy my small request, and now on what grounds do you ask me to satisfy yours?

Everyone lives reciprocally, don’t they? The kind of result you gave me is the kind of return you’ll get, it’s like this for everyone. You hurt me time and again, how do you make me forgive you over and over, and in your eyes, I deserve to be your scapegoat time and again, to be manipulated by you? I don’t want to talk about past hurts anymore. Our mutual past should have been forgotten long ago. Why must we make each other’s hearts suffer so painfully and arduously? All I want is a peaceful life. Now that you can’t give me such a life, then please let go, alright? Don’t cling to me endlessly. Your pestering really exhausts my heart...” Xia Jing was truly on the brink of a breakdown. She didn’t know how she should speak to her ex-husband to make him understand the torment in her heart. He kept entangling her, leaving her no way to completely leave him. Is this really the result he wanted? Is this really what he wants, to see each other in such overwhelming pain? She really didn’t understand what else she had to do to end this farce sooner, rather than letting it drag on endlessly like this.

”Listen to me: no matter what, I will never give up on you, never let you leave my side. You either agree to my request and come back to my side, and I promise not to touch you, I also promise to let you live freely the life you want. All I want is to have a nominal marital bond with you, but if you stubbornly insist on severing all ties with me, then I don’t mind falling out with you. In my eyes, whether we fall out has nothing to do with you. What I want is really very little, just like you said yourself, you only want a peaceful life, and I only want a joyful life with you. Is such a life really that difficult for us to achieve? Is it really that hard for us to accept and realize? Wouldn’t it be better to give each other a way out? Why push each other to a dead end? Do you think you can live happily and peacefully after leaving me, but after leaving you, I can only live in agony? Your heart still has me in it, could you really be so heartless to see your once most beloved husband living in such misery day in and day out?”

Indeed, Zhang Zhentian’s words struck right at Xia Jing’s heart. How could she bear to see her husband live in agony and madness? He was the man she once loved the most. He could abandon everything for her, so what was more difficult this time? But she was really torn about which path she should choose so she wouldn’t regret it in the future.

”I really don’t know how to talk to you. I’ve made it clear and plain to you. If you insist on making me suffer along with you, then I have no way. But this request of yours, I really have no reason to agree to. You hurt me so deeply back then, I can’t agree to such a request again. In my eyes, such a demand only makes me think you’re a small-minded, petty person.

Actually, I’m not as perfect and good as you imagine. Perhaps you see me as perfect now because the facade I’ve put on is an illusion. One day, you’ll find the ugliness within my heart, and you’ll abandon me once again, so please don’t come to hurt me anymore. The second time, I won’t give you the chance to hurt me again. When you hurt me the second time, maybe your heart will feel happy, but I will live in agony. Could you bear to see your wife, who shared the same bed for so many years, suffering in such pain by your side, when all this started because of you?

I must say, your heart is indeed kind, but your kindness shouldn’t be used to threaten others, should it? I love you, that was my love for you; that love completely vanished the moment you abandoned me. Why must you still do this? It only makes me think you have no sense, only knowing how to take, but unable to let go!

Love should be this way: when you place someone in your heart, you should care for them without a hint of doubt. And when you abandon them, you shouldn’t cling on, hoping to retrieve them, as it only makes you seem reliant, like you can’t live without that person. Your demands, I will never agree to. I hope you won’t ask me for such unreasonable demands anymore, or we won’t even be able to be friends. I believe that outcome is not something either you or I want to see. We should still be good friends, shouldn’t we...”

You also brought me warmth and emotion. Even if it’s not naturally identical, we are the same in this world.
