My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2271: Chapter 2104: Letting Go of Attachments

Should we maintain lingering ties, or should we remain free from attachment?

Ran Zhihan decided to visit Old Master Zhang at the hospital before she leaves, considering that since she married into this family, Old Master Zhang had always taken care of her and never intentionally made things difficult. She wasn’t the kind to hold a grudge, and since her grandfather had been kind to her, why should she hide from him? No matter what happened between her and her husband, she shouldn’t take it out on her relatives, especially since they genuinely love her.

When Old Master Zhang saw his granddaughter-in-law visiting him at the hospital, he felt happy; he was thrilled because he hadn’t seen her for such a long time, and this time, finally she came. Although he had always hoped that his grandson could have another child, he also wished for his grandson’s company. No matter the nature of their past relationship, once you decide to be together, there are things that you must face.

”Zhihan, you came. Why did you think of visiting grandpa today? I’ve been waiting here for you to visit. Why didn’t you bring my great-grandson?

I haven’t seen him in a long time, and I really miss him now. I want him to visit and see his great-grandpa. ℴ

Have you both been very busy lately? Or did something happen at home? Why do you always not come to see me, leaving me alone in the hospital? Grandpa even thought you’ve forgotten about me. If you hadn’t come today, I’d really think you’ve forgotten me, leaving me alone in the hospital, while you live a loving life as a couple. But seeing you today really makes grandpa happy. I haven’t seen you for so long, and I truly miss you!”

Ran Zhihan felt so much pain inside; why did such things happen to her? She just wanted to live with her family now, but why is it so hard? Is this punishment because she betrayed her family? She never thought something like this would happen; what she wanted was just to live a stable, happy life. But all of this was just because she made mistakes. Does she have to let others take the blame for what she did?

No matter how incompetent she felt, no matter how unbearable her past life was, and no matter what kind of pain and heart-wrenching hurt she experienced, she can never hide from these things. What must be faced will always be faced, and no one can escape the past. So perhaps only by facing it openly can she make it less awkward. No matter the angle she starts from, they have no reason to keep hiding things for her time and again. Only by choosing to face it openly might she embark on a different journey.

”Grandpa, I’m mainly here to tell you that I might have to go on a business trip and won’t be back for a while. I’m entrusting the household matters to you. You know what kinds of dishes your grandson likes to eat every day, and while I am not around, he can also have some peace. I don’t want anything to disturb his work. I want to travel and wish to see how big the world is. I hope you can grant me this.”

Old Master Zhang, upon hearing this, knew that things were not as simple as he imagined. Could it be that the young couple had some argument? Or was there some secret they hadn’t told him, this old fool? Seeing his granddaughter-in-law so upset, could it be that there really was an issue between the couple?

”Zhihan, is there a problem between you and Yichen? Why would you suddenly say these things to grandpa? Do you know how much it hurts me to hear this? Grandpa always considers you to be one of the family’s kids. If you suddenly leave, how can my heart endure it? Grandpa is used to having you at home, but if you suddenly leave, it will make him lonely at home!”

”Grandpa, this has nothing to do with anyone else; it’s my own mistakes that I need to deal with. I want to go out to clear my mind and think over what mistakes I have made. I know you have always cared for me, but some mistakes once made need to be taken responsibility for. I just had a big fight with my husband. I can’t live with him anymore because I can’t understand why he wants his son to relive the pain he endured. Isn’t it true that as parents, we should want our children to grow up happy?

I don’t even know how to comfort my son anymore. Watching her train so desperately makes me, as a mother, feel so distressed. No one can understand my pain. I just want my son to have a happy upbringing and not receive any more torment, not to have his eyes full of hatred, nor let hatred blind him.

Grandpa, can you understand my pain? I really don’t know what to do. Is my departure the only way for everything to settle peacefully? I really don’t know what to say anymore. I just want my son to have a joyful childhood. Everyone only has one childhood, and some kids suffer hardships growing up due to not having a joyful childhood, merely to prove their worth to those they care about. I don’t want my son to live in such pain; he should have a happy childhood. He is still just a child; what wrong has he done, why should adult matters involve him?”

Old Master Zhang sighed. He understood these arguments indeed made sense, but he wasn’t conveniently able to intervene. Everyone chooses different paths, and different outcomes follow. If one chooses this path, then what reason does one have to be bitter towards others? The chosen path is unavoidable; you can’t dodge it, so you can only brave through it, right?

”Child, every road taken is decided by oneself. Since he chose this path, the things he faces in the future are unavoidable, so why not let him bear and face them on his own? Possibly, he would grow faster this way, wouldn’t he?”

Life’s joy always makes you experience unexpected events.
