My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2266: Chapter 2099: Not Really

A lot of things aren’t just about wanting them or wanting to throw them away.

Old Master Zhang woke up in a daze; he knew that his sudden illness would definitely cause his grandson to put all the blame on Zhang Zhentian. He didn’t want the relationship between father and son to become so strained. He decided to clarify everything, so that such a small matter wouldn’t cause them to fall out, which would not be worth the loss.

”Child, I know you’re deeply hurt inside, but you must understand that I really didn’t mean to anger you. I just didn’t want to come home with him like this. I have my dignity too; is it wrong for me to refuse him for the sake of my dignity? You can make any mistake for the sake of your dignity; in your eyes, your mistakes become correct, while my mere refusal to him becomes a grave error, is that so wrong? Clearly, the situation wasn’t this bad initially; it was his actions that caused this mess, yet why do you place all the blame on me? Was I born to be your scapegoat? I know I’ve made many mistakes in the past, but I’ve paid a heavy price for those mistakes. Can you never see my efforts to change?”

”Haha...

Are you telling me you’ve changed, or are you using a different way to plead with me, saying that it wasn’t your fault, but grandpa’s illness?

I really don’t understand what’s going on inside you. How could you be so heartless to your own father? He has given so much for you, but you’ve never appreciated it. You’ve always treated his love as something you deserve. But should he always act recklessly for you? You’ve never considered why he treats you sincerely as his family. It breaks his heart, and you’ve never understood how painful it is for him. You always think you’re self-righteous, believing that every decision you make is correct, best for everyone. But you don’t realize that sometimes your decisions hurt those who love you the most!

I know there are some things I shouldn’t say to you; after all, you are still my elder. But I hope you can truly understand from your heart, not just superficially. Do you understand? I used to really hate you; I hated you and mom for abandoning me. But on the flip side, you abandoned your family for freedom. You could even abandon your own biological son, which proves you couldn’t accept grandpa’s control. If you truly couldn’t accept the fate grandpa arranged for you, why didn’t you talk to grandpa? Grandfather isn’t someone who doesn’t understand things. How could you choose to protest against him and hurt those who love you the most? Have you ever thought about whether what you did was right or wrong?”

Zhang Zhentian felt uncomfortable hearing his son say such things, but he knew his son’s words were justified. If he had been more willing to communicate with his own father at the beginning, perhaps things wouldn’t have ended up like this. If his father had been more willing to talk to him and understand his thoughts, and if he hadn’t been so eager to dictate his fate, none of this would have happened.

Actually, up till now, Zhang Zhentian still thinks about putting all the blame on his own father. He never has the courage to admit his mistakes, always thinking that if something goes wrong, someone else must have designed it. Often, he doesn’t realize that the one most prone to error is himself, and yet he keeps pushing all the mistakes onto others, making it impossible for anyone to accept.

”You don’t need to be sarcastic with me. I know when your mother and I abandoned you, you endured a lot of teasing from other children. People said you were a child abandoned by your parents, condemned to a loveless life. I know how deeply those words hurt you, but it’s not what your mother and I wanted. We had no choice; since we made that decision, we couldn’t turn back, or else all the consequences we paid initially would be for naught. You know how much your mother and I care about you, love you, cherish you like the apple of our eye, but ultimately we couldn’t get along because your heart and our heart aren’t aligned. You’re on a different path, aligned with grandpa, who raised you through hardship, so in your heart there is only him, not us as your parents...”

Zhang Yichen truly didn’t expect, even after all this time, that his biological father would still put all the blame on his grandpa. He really couldn’t understand what his grandpa was thinking inside. Even after being treated this way, she still wants her father to come home, despite being deeply hurt by him; she remains selfless. Perhaps that’s the love of a parent for their child!

Why can’t I receive such love? Why does my father do such hurtful things to me? Why can’t my family ever have a complete ending? What do I have to do to bring everything back to the beginning, to stop all those who care about me from being hurt? Is everything I do really so fragile? The strength I portray inside, is it merely superficial, forever unable to overcome my parents?

Many perfect moments are achieved through immense effort.

No one is born willing to be ordinary.
