My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2257: Chapter 2090: Mistake

Love committed weakness, resulting in mistake. Perhaps I shouldn’t keep tangling with you and should just let go.

”Zhihan, thank you. You don’t have to persuade your mom for your dad anymore. Her mind is made up, and no matter who speaks, it won’t have any impact. Since your mom no longer has a place for your dad in her heart, why put her in a difficult position? I know you don’t want to see your beloved husband caught in between us parents and having a hard time. I also understand your intentions because, after all, harmony in the family is key to all success. But since your mom has already made her decision, you should understand that if your mom decides something, no words from anyone can change her easily!”

”Dad, I know mom’s temper is indeed quite stubborn, but I really don’t want your son to be caught in the middle and have a hard time. When I see him lonely and troubled, I know what he’s thinking inside. I know he’s feeling torn because of the two of you, which is why I’m speaking up today. These words come from my heart, not just empty gestures. I believe if you can reconcile, our family will be able to live happily together!”

”Good child, Grandpa knows you’re doing this for family harmony, but let’s not make any more futile efforts. Having such a good granddaughter-in-law like you is the blessing Grandpa has earned in this life. Grandpa would have no regrets even if he died now, having you to care for my grandson makes me very happy!”

”Alright then, since Grandpa and Dad have spoken, I won’t persuade Mom anymore. Since you’ve made this decision, it means you’ve already figured out how to move forward. Yet, I still want to say a few last words: Even if one person gives everything to another, and the outcome is self-brewed and self-reaped, one must keep moving forward regardless. How do you know it won’t work without trying? How do you know whether you’re truly incompatible if you don’t try to accept each other? Love comes from mutual adjustment, not an instant, heaven-earth witness love. Easily abandoned love is not true love. If both are sincerely loving each other, no matter how many obstacles there are, you will not separate, because both keep each other’s deepest memories, placing them in the most important place in their hearts, and will not doubt or change this unless deep down you no longer believe in him!”

Zhang Zhentian, Xia Jing, and Old Master Zhang were quite astonished by Ran Zhihan’s insights; was this truly a girl in her twenties? Why can she understand so many things that many of them don’t? Being decades older than this young girl, yet feeling unable to express, is it truly because getting older means becoming muddled? If I can’t even hold onto the person I love most, what’s my purpose in living in this world?

Zhang Yichen also didn’t expect his wife to become so wise. How could he dare bully her in the future? If he did, wouldn’t his own demeanor crush him?

”Wife, you’re so smart, how could I dare bully you in the future? If I did, wouldn’t you crush me, and would you torment me every day?” Zhang Yichen jokingly said.

”Silly husband, you should think, how could I bear to torment you? You’re my most beloved man. I can give up everything for you; it’s for you that I’ve come this far today. I can articulate this understanding now because I believe everyone present understands these principles. I just don’t want our parents to suffer emotional pain. We’ve already experienced how hurtful it can be. We’ve gone through so much to stand here today, why let our parents face the criticism we’ve endured?” Ran Zhihan replied, smilingly to Zhang Yichen.

”Dad and Mom, as a son, I’ve never interfered in any of your decisions. I hope today you can heed this advice from your son: don’t easily abandon the love between you. You loved each other so fully once, willing to let go of freedom for each other. Now, what is there that you can’t let go of? Back then, you could make such tough decisions; why can’t you do it now? Don’t let today’s decisions cause future regrets, which will only lead to greater harm! I know what you want to say, and I will not hate you for what you’ve previously done, because you’re my parents. My wife has proven no matter what actions parents take, children shouldn’t resent them. Parents gave us life; without them, there would be no us today. Whatever parents do, we can only be thankful, not filled with hatred. I truly hope that on my wedding day, my parents can reunite, and not dwell on past mistakes, sparing each other hurt. You’ve stated you wish to compensate me; then I wish you’d consider this as a compensation: give me a complete family, so my future son can receive grandparental love and not know from birth his grandparents are divorced and grow up hurt because of that...”

”Yichen, it’s not that Mom doesn’t agree, but it’s genuinely impossible. Your dad’s decision made Mom’s heart die; a person whose heart is dead cannot love anymore! I’d once give up everything for him, even the kingdom, but he cruelly abandoned me over a lie; this proves I meant nothing to him. If he views me so insignificantly, why should I torment myself for him?”

”If Mom remains so insistent and won’t be with Dad, then I have nothing more to say. I just hope you won’t regret your decisions today later!”

I gave you my heart but still couldn’t keep you.
