My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1601: Chapter 1395: Waiting in Place

”Mom, do you now wish that my dad could wake up? If that’s truly what you want, if deep down you feel even a tiny bit guilty towards him, then please stay by his side from now on and stop thinking about anyone else, and don’t mention these things in front of him anymore.

You should know that for a man, having his wife harbor another person in her heart is an immense humiliation. Yet he’s willing to set aside all this humiliation just to be with you. This proves that deep down he truly loves you. Why can’t you let go of your own prejudices for him a little? You always act on your own decisions, but you forget how painful your actions have been for those behind you.

Perhaps the only one who can awaken him now is you. I have called out to him by his side for so many days, waiting day and night, but he hasn’t moved a finger. I don’t know what else I can do to make him care for me in the slightest. Maybe only you can wake him up. This matter can wait until you recover slowly; just talk to him kindly, and maybe the outcome will be different!”

Xia Jing knew her son was speaking the truth because she understood the place her husband held in her heart.

Right now, she doesn’t want much. As long as she can wait for her husband to wake up, it would be enough for her. Perhaps she really should think carefully: if she continues to be the same as before, how can she make it to the end?

”Child, I know deep down you still resent me. After all, it was because of me that your father ended up like this. How could you not hate me at all? But I understand.

After all, the things I’ve done are simply unforgivable. I’ve hurt you time and again. What right do I have to ask for your forgiveness over and over again? You’re not saints—you cannot forgive me endlessly.

Child, rest assured. This time, no matter what, I will stay by your father’s side. No matter what, I won’t leave.

I know you want your dad to wake up, and I want the same. But some things cannot be forced. Just like you said, if he can really wake up now, I am willing to stay here and never leave him again in this life. But I don’t ask for much. I just hope to receive his truest feelings for me.

If this time I can really awaken him, then believe me, I will never leave him again in my lifetime. I’m human, too, and I have my desires for love. I wish to stay by his side. I just want what I desire.”

”Since you’ve said this, I’ll believe you one more time. Remember what you said today: no matter what, you must stay by his side. If you keep thinking of leaving him and abandon our family as before, do you think I would still stay by your side to visit you? Absolutely not. Although I’ve let go of the past grudges of you abandoning me, that doesn’t mean I can forgive you time and again for hurting my family. I’m also human, and seeing my family hurt, my heart also aches. Seeing my family hurt one another is also a blow to me. You always think only of your own interests, forgetting what you should do to give your family a rightful reason.”

”Child, trust me this time. I will definitely not repeat my past mistakes. As long as you’re willing to believe in me, I can give up everything. I’ve really thought it through now. He’s lying there between life and death, and I’ve realized this. Do you know how heartbreaking this is for a couple who’ve been together for decades? I also want him to live happily and joyfully!”

Zhang Yichen knew that this time his mother wasn’t lying, because in his mother’s heart there was still his father. Just like one day if his father unexpectedly left this world, wouldn’t his mother be deeply hurt inside? He also wanted to live a steady life.

Everything he did, all the harsh words he endured, was just in hope that his family could be together in peace. It was simply in hope that his mother would stay by his father’s side and give his father a chance at life, wasn’t it? So why force things like before? If they really lived that way, how could they be happy and joyful?

As long as his dad could come back to life, and his mom would no longer act on her whims, he wouldn’t mind even if they abandoned him again. But if they couldn’t stay with him, no matter the impact on his heart, he couldn’t forgive. I just hope they can be safe and sound. As a child, seeing his family happy—what could be more of a blessing?

”Mom, every word you said today, I hope you can keep in your heart. These words have been etched into my mind; I will never forget everything you said today. But I hope you consider: since you made this decision today, it means you have no other chance to change this decision. If you regret it in the future, I won’t be soft-hearted. Everything I do is only to see everyone happy and joyful. If you continue to treat your family as dispensable tools and use them repeatedly, I won’t hesitate to shut you out forever!

Since you have decided to make amends, I just hope you do what you should. Your main task now is to take care of your health, and stay by my dad’s side, talking to him every day to see if you can wake him up. I believe you can bring him a miracle, because you’re the only one in his heart. He has never cared what he truly wants inside. What he wants every time is you, yet you’ve chosen to hurt him time and again, using his love as a tool repeatedly!”
