My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1643: Chapter 1437: Bound

Love is not something that you can just casually say is there or easily give up on. If two people are truly together, they should cherish everything between them.

Some things are lost forever once they’re gone. You simply can’t make them return. Instead of adding to your sadness and letting your past happiness disappear, why not cherish what’s in front of you and turn it into the most beautiful memories?

Right now, Xiao Wei and the others still don’t know what happened with their sister. He probably thinks his life is quite happy now, but he couldn’t have imagined that his sister has been through so many accidents in such a short time. Event after event has left her so mentally unstable that she can’t even differentiate right from wrong, and even eating has become a huge challenge for her. If he knew, he would probably feel great pain inside because she was the sister who had depended on him for so many years.

He always wanted to return to his home country to be with his sister, to see how she was doing. But he’s been held back by his wife; he cannot disappoint her, as he knows what she expects of him.

He used to live freely without caring about anything, but now he can’t do that anymore because he has his own family and responsibilities to bear. He should change himself for his family. Being willful and reckless like before, doing anything he wanted, would only result in becoming more distant from his loved ones. All he wants is for his family to always be by his side. Perhaps this is the most precious thing that every family man hopes to get!

”Now you’re saying that it’s my neglect that caused mom to be like this. Even if I had something to do, does that mean I shouldn’t leave for a while? I admit that I was careless this time and didn’t expect my mom to suddenly end up like this. But how is it not a kind of pain for me too? I never thought I’d have to guard her like this every moment. If she were conscious, she’d think this is a great suffering. She’s never endured such pain before, and now she has to bear it all alone. Ultimately, this is something every one of us brought upon her.

Do you have things to do? I know you care about your career and this family, but don’t I care too? She is my biological mother. Wherever and whenever, I hope she’s healthier than anyone. I wish more than anyone that she can be safe and sound. But some things are truly beyond my control. Everything I do in the end only brings me repeated agony, and no one cares about my inner thoughts. What is the point of me making all these sacrifices over and over again?

You haven’t even told your uncle about this. Are you afraid he’ll come back to hold you accountable?

If sister knew that because of mom, you would choose to drive grandma out of the house, do you think your uncle would agree? Would he continue to trust you deep down?

Actually, you know better than anyone that you need your uncle’s trust because he holds a lot of power. Even though he’s left that world behind for years, he still has connections, and his network is strong. You’re afraid of upsetting him time and time again. You don’t dare kick your mom out of the house yourself because you consider him, but now you’re trying to shift all the blame onto me. I’m not foolish enough to take all the blame for you.

As for my grandma, I think you should communicate with them properly. No matter their purpose, since they have chosen to come back, they should stay peacefully in this house, and not cause extra trouble. That would only harm everyone with no benefit. Don’t thoroughly hurt everyone just to end up regretting it. Nobody will forgive him simply because he’s committed mistakes. Everyone has their own things to do, and he should pay a heavy price for what he’s done.

Even if I’m not sure if my mom’s current state is connected to him, directly or indirectly, if they hadn’t returned, how could she have been neglected? Over the years, hasn’t my mom been good to you? Don’t you truly know in your heart? You’ve let down my mom’s trust, put her in the most awkward situation, and left her with no way to interact with you, which is why she’s becoming more and more withdrawn.”

”Even if all the so-called problems you mentioned are entirely my own, shouldn’t you reflect on whether there are any problems deep down within yourself? She is your mother, she is only my wife. I have my salary work, don’t I? I should take care of her, understand her, accompany her, and not neglect her. But what about you? You are the son she gave birth to after ten months of hardship. You, as her child, can’t spend every day with your mother. How do you expect me to do it?

Do you not need to eat? Doesn’t your grandfather deserve to come back and enjoy some comfort in this house? Doesn’t great-grandfather hope we can all have jobs and achieve success? Everyone has different expectations for others, just as I do for you. As long as you are happy, even if you achieve nothing, I’d still be happy and willing. I’d give you all my wealth so you can live without any worries. Would you accept this?

I’m sure you wouldn’t because such a life is nothing but that of a puppet, only to be scorned by others. You’re not willing to live like that, let alone me. The pressure I endure is no less than yours, so why do you want me to experience the pain I once suffered all over again? Do you want me to enjoy being ridiculed by others daily as if I’m a good-for-nothing, abandoned by my parents?

Can we both consider things from each other’s perspectives? If you really feel stifled about this, we could take turns. When one person is watching your mother, that person absolutely cannot leave for any reason. Even if the sky falls, they must stay with her. If you can do that, I’ll accept your opinion without complaint. I’ll stay here and watch over her. Surely, I can’t be the one watching every day while you handle your affairs, right? What about my company and the thousands of my employees? Shouldn’t they eat? Can my company just stop running? Can my money just fall into my lap like manna from heaven?”

Isn’t life just like this? Everyone is selfish, hoping to keep their partner tethered to them forever.

No one wants their partner smiling at others while remaining cold and distant towards them.
