My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1617: Chapter 1411: The Day of the Engagement

Old Master Zhang rushed to the hospital and quickly called Zhang Yichen.

When Zhang Yichen saw that it was his grandfather calling him, he could hardly believe it. His grandfather never called him while he was at work, what was happening today?

”Grandpa, you never call me when I’m working, what’s going on today? Why are you suddenly calling me during work? Did you make something delicious at home and want me and my wife to come home for dinner?”

Zhang Yichen thought Old Master Zhang was calling him to ask him to come home for dinner, because, in his grandfather’s mind, work was a very serious profession and should never be interrupted. But why was today an exception?

”Child, don’t joke with Grandpa. Your mom and dad are in the hospital undergoing emergency treatment. They were in a car accident; it’s really serious. I can’t explain everything to you right now, so please come to the hospital quickly, okay?

I’m already at the hospital, waiting, but I’ve been waiting for a long time without any news. I’m a bit worried, you should come over quickly. After all, they are your parents; they gave you life, no matter what.”

Zhang Yichen was stunned. What was happening?

How come he just got to work, and within a few hours, heard that his parents had a serious car accident?

His grandfather seemed very anxious, he should quickly go to him, lest the old man worry too much.

”Grandpa, don’t worry, I’m coming over right now. Just wait for me at the hospital, and I believe mom and dad will be okay.” Although Zhang Yichen said this to comfort his grandfather, deep down he was very worried about his parents. He was afraid they might really be gone, and that would be a lifelong pain for him.

”Okay, come quickly. I’ll wait for you at the hospital, I’m not going anywhere. My son is in the emergency room now, how can I, as a father, leave him? Just taking one step away makes my heart restless, I’m really scared of hearing bad news. What would I do then?”

After hanging up the phone, Zhang Yichen hurried over to his grandfather. He felt he had to go see his parents, who were still in the emergency room. How could he continue working peacefully under such circumstances? Could he put his parents’ lives aside just to ensure his company runs smoothly, just to handle a few more files?

He was not such a person, he could never do such a thing. If he had to choose between work and his parents, he would unhesitatingly choose his parents. Without his parents, he wouldn’t exist. If he lost his job, he could slowly start anew. If he had once built his accomplishments through hard work, why couldn’t he succeed again?

On his way to the hospital, Zhang Yichen thought that he should call his wife about this, no matter what.

When Ran Zhihan received the call from Zhang Yichen, she couldn’t believe it deep down. How could this be true?

It had been over ten days, even a month, since her husband had spoken a word with her. Did the sun rise from the west today? Her husband actually chose to call her.

”Yichen, why did you suddenly think of calling me today? We haven’t sat down for a calm conversation in months. Every time I tried to speak to you, you always had a stern face.

I thought you would ignore me for the rest of my life. I never imagined you would actively reach out to me, it’s unbelievable. Receiving your call, I feel like I’m dreaming. In my dreams, I saw you call me over and over. Yet, in real life, you wouldn’t say a word to me. The gap between reality and dreams is overwhelming for me to handle...”

”Alright, stop talking about irrelevant things. I called to tell you something important. Mom and Dad were in a car accident and are now undergoing emergency treatment in the hospital. Grandpa is extremely worried and is already at the hospital. Quickly pack your things and come with me to the hospital.”

Ran Zhihan was dumbfounded. She didn’t know how to respond. Hadn’t her parents left the house happily this morning? Weren’t they supposed to be on their way abroad in their Ferrari? Why did this serious accident happen suddenly, leading to injuries and requiring emergency treatment?

”Yichen, what exactly happened? Weren’t they fine when they left this morning? How could a car accident occur suddenly, and now they’re in the emergency room? How are they now? Is it serious? Are they out of danger?”

Ran Zhihan’s questions came out in a rush, showing her anxiety. Yichen felt a bit awkward deep down. She was just the daughter-in-law, yet she was so concerned about his parents. But why, when they were his biological parents, couldn’t he show the same concern for them? Was it because he was too hung up on trivial matters? What seemed trivial to them were major issues in his perspective.

”Alright, stop rambling here. Hurry up and leave. Everyone’s really anxious, and talking so much here is pointless. It’s better to go to the hospital and comfort Grandpa!”

”Alright, alright. Just wait for me for a moment, I’ll get ready and leave immediately. I have to go to the hospital to see just how severe this matter is. I can’t believe such good people like mom and dad can encounter such a thing.

I believe Heaven will protect them, and that Grandpa will bless them with safety. They have been through a lot already; not being able to return home for years is already the biggest punishment for them. I hope Heaven gives them a chance to start over...”
