My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1641: Chapter 1235: Obedience

We clearly know what we think deep inside, but sometimes the jokes we make become thorns in each other’s hearts.

In fact, what does it matter if we’re successful and famous, if you’re not there, who will share a pleasant evening with me, tonight is like a play, and I can only let the spring breeze carry away the regrets in my heart.

Zhang Yichen had never seen his grandfather lose composure like today. Perhaps the grievances buried in his heart for so many years could finally be vented today. He could clearly remember how his grandfather often held a photograph, silently shedding tears, talking to himself quietly, locking himself in a solitary space. Outside, he was always so cheerful and adorable, never bringing his negative energy to anyone. He only wanted others to be happy and content, yet no one, including himself, considered how much pain he endured in solitude.

Sometimes I wonder if things would have been different had I shown even a bit more care for my grandfather. The hardships he endured over the years, I witnessed time and again, the countless sacrifices he made for me. But what did I give in return? I couldn’t even offer him a basic sense of joy.

If time could rewind, would I seriously contemplate what kind of life I ought to provide my grandfather? How should I have approached him? Those years of sorrow and pain he endured -- no one knew that I poured all my agonies out, while my grandfather swallowed his tears and heartaches silently. What have I been doing?

”Dad, whatever happens, I hope you won’t speak so harshly to Grandpa. He truly is old and can no longer bear the betrayal and pain from his family time and again. Could you perhaps show a bit of empathy, just a little bit of filial piety, and I would be grateful to you? Do you realize how many people your actions have hurt? Have you ever considered how much hatred lies behind you? You always think you’re right, but is it truly correct? Has Grandpa ever treated you poorly? Since the day you were born, hasn’t he provided you with a life of luxury, leaving you without a worry in the world? Compared to others, you are the luckiest, even without a mother. Haven’t you realized that Grandpa has given you all of his love?

Truly, Grandpa feels guilty towards you deep inside, and that’s why he showered upon you all the love meant for his wife. But ultimately, his hopes for you were in vain. You chose to leave and wander far away, unwilling to return home and be by his side. Doesn’t his heart suffer? Doesn’t his soul despair?

Your actions, without considering his feelings, how can he stand in your shoes and think about the issues? People are empathetic beings; if you can’t treat others as family, then do not expect them to forgive your mistakes repeatedly. He owes you nothing.

If you return to this family, just to hurt your father, hurt me, and hurt everyone at home repeatedly, then congratulations, you’ve achieved your goal, you got exactly what you wanted, but I beg you, please, show mercy to Grandpa. No matter how you hurt me, I can overlook it, pretend nothing happened, accept all as my own fault, but Grandpa, he owes you nothing.

”Why do you keep placing all these wrongs on my shoulders even now? Does that mean everything I did was wrong? Is what I want not what you want? Why do you selfishly believe your thoughts, different from others, are correct?

I never thought about returning home for revenge. I sincerely wanted to come back and be by your side. The final outcome was beyond my control, for the immense hurt I faced, the pleadings I repeated time and again only to be allowed to stay. In the end, what did I get? Nothing. All the pain was kept to myself.

You may believe I am selfish, never considering things from your perspective. But do you understand? If not for the rent and viewing things from your angle, why else would the shop still run? How else could I have said these words to you, kept you closest to my heart repeatedly?

You are my family, an irreplaceable part of my life. Everything I did was for our happiness and well-being, yearning for your safety and joy. But my hopes fell through; do you think I do not feel disappointed, engulfed with pain and despair?

You assume I burdened you with my pain, but haven’t you brought yours upon me? Enduring no less than your pain, do you dare claim your actions lack self-interest? Don’t judge others based on your thoughts; what you do isn’t always right, and such judgments only wrong those who love you, driving them away.

Didn’t you want me to stay? But why treat me so? Time after time, what did you gain from this pain and suffering? Nothing at all. You’ve shouldered everything upon yourself, thinking you’re right, but eventually, you realize everything you did was wrong, for your actions have hurt every relative around you.

No matter what, I hope to clarify with you all today. I never intended to harm you. My constant missteps were unintentional, happening inexplicably, leading to consequences over and over again. Do you really think my heart doesn’t harbor guilt?”

Drifting in the wind were only fireworks scattered across the sky, even the leaves unsure of their direction, let alone a homeless soul like me.
