My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1620: Chapter 1414: Xing Xing’s Wish

Indeed, everyone views things differently, and therefore, the choices they make are different as well. Every path you choose determines which road you’ll take in the future.

There are times when Zhang Yichen feels lost, unsure why he chose this path in the first place. Initially, he wanted to prove to his parents how strong he was, to make them regret abandoning him.

But now, he has achieved success that not just anyone can force upon themselves. He has become lonely and desolate, and concerning his father and mother, due to certain reasons, he doesn’t even drink. He doesn’t know whether he should feel happy or sad inside. In the past, he desperately wished for his parents to be punished.

Even when they could heartlessly abandon a one-month-old child, to him, it was simply unforgivable.

But now his parents have truly been punished. Yet why does his heart only feel pain instead of joy? Is it really because blood is thicker than water? If that’s the case, then why didn’t they feel how painful it was for him to take each step back then?

”Dad, honestly, I can’t understand whether seeing you like this makes me happy or sad. Truthfully, as a junior witnessing you like this, I still feel upset inside. But thinking back to when you heartlessly abandoned me, leaving me to live alone for twenty-odd years, this small bit of punishment seems light to me.”

Sometimes you abandon me and say repeatedly that it was out of pure necessity, but think about it, what kind of difficulty would lead a mother and father to completely abandon their one-month-old child?

I really don’t understand what benefit you get out of this, letting your child live in misery. Were you truly happy inside?

If you didn’t choose to raise me back then, then why give birth to me, letting me suffer in this world? Every step I took was so arduous, and you never saw how hard I struggled.”

Zhang Zhentian knows that certain matters will always leave shadows in his son’s heart, always having reasons. He cannot erase all of it; he chose this path himself, leading him to this point. He knows how much his son suffered because of his actions; he watched as his son endured devil-like training, yet could only stand in the shadows.

”Ah!

Don’t you really know? Seeing your devil-like training, I would feel heartache too. Always thinking that I hadn’t paid attention to you from childhood to adulthood, but do you know? Every move you made left a deep impression on our minds.

We saw with our own eyes which path you chose, saw with our eyes what kind of hellish training you went through, seeing you step by step reach today, creating such brilliance with all your efforts. You really didn’t know at all?

I also know, in everyone’s eyes not only you, neither your mom nor I can be said to be competent parents. Abandoning you so young, leaving you to live in solitude here, had I been grandpa, you would have starved long ago.”

”So, I can’t understand, what kind of necessity, what kind of compulsion led you down that path, abandoning me and letting me live so lonely, making you feel happy because having a name outside is my devil training, enduring such hardship, yet standing behind and not coming forward, making me repeatedly hope whether my parents would return to accompany me once!”

But I really don’t know whether I should choose to forgive you. Why every time I stand at the door filled with hope, waiting for the sound of your return, but you? You keep hiding behind, watching me train, yet never willing to come forward and look at me, was I really so unpleasant in your eyes?

Looks are given by parents; it isn’t something I can decide.

I pushed myself to become the smartest person in the world because I want everyone to know everything I’ve done is worthwhile, making everyone forever beyond my reach, because only by standing at a different height can everyone know how much effort and hardship I’ve put in to achieve this success, something they can never experience because they have their parents’ companionship so they don’t have to try so hard to prove themselves!

But I can’t!”

”Child, don’t harbor too much resentment. Even if you blame us, blame me as your father but don’t hate your mom!”

”There are things I don’t want to mention again. Since my mother doesn’t wish to see you now, just give her some time. Only by giving her time can you know how to make her return to your side. I can see she still has feelings for you, but the current situation makes her avoid you, it’s also for a reason; she doesn’t know how to face you, because of grandpa’s intervention, also because everyone in our family is watching her, making her feel awkward.”

”Rest assured, I understand, and since I’ve done this, I’ll choose to give her time, no matter how long this period might be, I’ll always give it to her. I’ll wait for her until the day she decides to come out and see me!

Even if this day becomes unattainable in this lifetime, I’m still willing to lie down with even a glimmer of hope; I can’t give up, grabbing hold of the last glimmer of hope might make this lifetime different.”

Thank you anyway for today, thank you for expressing your resentment towards us, thank you for saying what you’ve always wanted to say from the heart.

You’ll always be our good son; what you’ve done indeed has left most people unable to reach, making many rich heirs out of reach.

Because all of this we’ve caused, it was us that exposed you to so much pain leading you step by step to today, we cannot intervene in everything you’ve done, only quietly watch you from behind, only let you walk this life alone, we’re truly sorry!”

Filled with desire, what good ending is there anyway? In the end, it’s just struggling, yet inherent weakness teaches us to repeat mistakes.
