My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1625: Chapter 1419: Beauty

”Nai’er, daddy did wrong in this matter, but can you try to understand daddy from his standpoint? Daddy indeed neglected your mom during this period, but it wasn’t intentional, you know how much has been going on in the family lately.

Some things happen against our will, but when they arise, we have no way to escape. Everyone has to bear some consequences for their actions. It’s truly not easy for us now. Your grandparents coming back to live with us is something we all hoped for. We should let them live peacefully here, not blame them for everything that happens or every problem you have. How can they live happily and securely like that? Shouldn’t we all consider their feelings?

Your dad knows that your mom’s depression troubles you deeply. It is due to my negligence and lack of care for her that has led to the current situation. I truly didn’t intend for this to happen. I wish she could live healthily too. Who would have thought that just because I didn’t pay attention to her recently, or check in with her, she would end up like this? I’m genuinely sorry!”

”Dad, with this matter, you shouldn’t apologize to me, you should talk to Grandpa. I believe Grandpa will take my mom’s perspective. No one expected this event to make my mom sick and hospitalized.

This outcome is not what we wanted. Everyone hopes for a happy and healthy life for every family member. But now that things have turned out like this, the person you should most apologize to isn’t me; it’s your grandpa. You should consider how much he cares about my mom, who worked so hard to bring me into this world. Why don’t you all consider my mom’s difficulties from his perspective? You always think only about what you wanted, building your happiness on others’ suffering. Do you really think your conscience can be at peace?”

Zhang Yichen felt so embarrassed by what his son said that he had no words to counter. He really was in the wrong, and if it wasn’t for his neglect and coldness toward his wife, things wouldn’t have turned out like this. If he is truly to blame, then he has become a historical sinner. How should he explain this to his grandfather?

His heart knows very well how much his grandfather cares about her, this granddaughter-in-law, and every person’s stability in this family. But now, with things like this, grandpa won’t just let it go. Maybe it’s time to talk candidly with grandpa to let him know everything from beginning to end. Otherwise, major problems could arise.

”Rest assured, I will have a good talk with my grandpa about this. You don’t have to worry too much. This isn’t related to you. It’s my fault for not treating your mom better, which led to her being like this. If you feel uncomfortable about anything, you can come to me. There’s no need for you to speak to your grandparents about it as they didn’t know your mom would become like this because of these issues. No one wishes for such things to happen to anyone in our family.”

”Dad, don’t worry. I definitely won’t mention a word of this to my grandparents. I will handle things as they come. It’s up to you to find a solution. If its resolution results in the household feeling unfair, then it shows there’s nothing more to be done from our end.”

Zhang Yichen understood that his son was warning him. If he cannot restore things to their original state, he would face his grandfather’s punishment because he knows his grandpa’s nature too well. His grandpa can’t bear to see any family member in this condition, which he absolutely cannot tolerate. But now, events have spiraled out of his control—he has no way to predict or restore things to how they once were. He can only silently endure the threat his son represents. At that moment, he realized how fearsome his son can be. If only he had cared a little more about his wife before, would his son hold this leverage against him now?

Zhang Ni said nothing more and turned to leave. He felt he had said enough to his father today. He was never this polite in conversations with anyone. If this wasn’t related to his father, he would’ve scolded him. But now he realized it wasn’t his place to intervene lightly—it’s a problem between his mom and dad. If their relationship can withstand trials, they wouldn’t be in this situation now. No one else can be blamed; they must face and endure the pain and torment themselves. If in the end they cannot maintain control, it indeed signifies the challenges destined for them.

Zhang Yichen suddenly felt he was an unqualified husband. Why hadn’t he realized his wife was ill, and why was he unwilling to show more concern for her life? If he had just cared a bit more, perhaps his wife wouldn’t have become hysterical. All consequences now are due to his neglect. What separates him from his parents apart from bringing harm to his own family? He thought he was strong, that he could bring happiness to every family member, but now it all seems an illusion at the start.
