My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1624: Chapter 1418: Happiness?

Zhang Zhentian really has no way to accept his father saying such things to him, after all, he is his son no matter what. How much deep hatred must his father have against him to utter such heartless and unfeeling words to his own son? As a son who is also a father, how could he bear to hurt his own child? Why is it that in their eyes, they can never see the good in their family, and always only remember the pain and harm brought upon them time and time again? Why does everyone place all the pain and responsibility on his shoulders? Is he born in this life just to take the blame for them?

”Dad, no matter what, I am your biological son. You have no right to say such things to me. You know I’m not a callous person, how could I possibly ignore my own son? What you’ve done makes me so sad, so disappointed. I never thought our father-son relationship would one day become like this. Do you think this is the life we want?”

You always think everything I do is wrong. Have you ever considered why I make so many mistakes? Do I deserve to be kicked out of the house over and over again? I really don’t understand what made you so cold-hearted towards me, what made you distrust me so much. Is it because I made mistakes before, and now, no matter what I do, I can’t earn even a tiny bit of trust from you?”

”I hope that no matter what happens, we can always be the most trustworthy people to each other. Only with mutual trust can we go on for long.”

”Look at us now, this household is no longer a home. With the endless arguments and disputes, how do you think we ended up like this? Do you think this is the ending we want?”

Old Master Zhang knows all too well that none of this is what he wanted, but things have gotten to this point. Even if he wants to take it back now, it’s too late. He remembers every word he once said clearly.

When his son left the family, he sounded so confident, never treating anyone at home as part of the family. Since that’s the case, why bother asking for so much now? Asking again and again, only pushing himself further down the road to ruin. He never expected to endure so much suffering and torment in this life. He thought if he could just be happy and keep going, he could make it to the end. What did a bit of hardship matter to him then? But now he realizes that everything he’s done, in his son’s eyes, is nothing but a joke. His son has never shown any gratitude, only hatred. Such a son, he doesn’t even understand why he was born. Thinking about all he sacrificed for him, in hindsight, seems really not worth it.

”Deep in your heart, you know you are my son. No matter what you’ve done, the mistakes I’ve let you make, you can never change this fact. I’ve told you this more than once, what more do you want me to explain to you? You’ve never thought about the consequences of every mistake you’ve let go of. You’ve never considered the hurt and pain you’ve caused to those who love you by chasing after your own happiness. You’ve taken everyone’s sincere feelings for granted, forgetting that everyone needs your concern. You forgot you have a son, a family, and relatives!”

”It’s precisely because I know I have family that I keep giving and giving for you to this extent. Why are you never willing to see things from my perspective? And the result? Does living like this not feel painful or exhausting to me? You think about kicking me out over and over, saying heartless things to me each time. Am I really supposed to feel nothing? Do I deserve this?”

You think everything I’ve done is wrong. Did you ever consider that EVERYTHING I do is for you? Why do you treat me like this? Why are you unwilling to give me a shred of sincerity? Is it that hard to give me your true heart?”

”Now you know you have family and relatives as well. Have you ever considered how hard everyone else’s lives are? Think back to everything you’ve done, which was worthy of our forgiveness? We’ve forgiven you time and time again because you’re family, but what about you? You kept hurting us over and over. Have you ever really considered us as family? Actually, you haven’t. You don’t even know what you’re doing any of this for; it’s just for that bit of freedom in your heart. You think that freedom will bring you happiness and allow you to soar, but you forgot - the higher you fly, the harder the fall. Do you realize what you’ve gained now? You wanted to soar over and over again, but what about now?

Can you truthfully say that this life you’re leading is happy, fulfilling, and satisfying? You’ve forgotten about the countless times people have been hurt by you, how painful and sad it was for them.

They made sacrifices to let you return to this household with peace of mind and lead a happy life, having borne so much public pressure and so much ridicule, but you never cared.

Maybe in your eyes, everything you want is unattainable and vague, but what have you actually gained by doing the same thing repeatedly? You’ve abandoned your family, repeatedly hurting those who truly love you, and ultimately, you gained nothing. Instead, you’ve harmed more people. You remain obstinate time after time, hurting everyone again and again. What exactly are you thinking deep down? What kind of reasons justify your constant stubbornness?”
