My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1608: Chapter 1402: Keep Going

”Grandpa, the Mid-Autumn Festival is just a few days away. Why hasn’t she come back yet? I really wish she could return to my side.

I’ve been searching for so long, but there’s still no news from him. I’m really worried.”

Old Master Zhang realized at this moment that he really had no way to communicate with his daughter-in-law about this issue. Perhaps this kind of outcome would eventually be a difficult decision for them. No parent can truly turn a blind eye to their child.

”I know that no matter how much I say now, you may not think this is the best outcome, but please consider it from your child’s perspective. If he is willing to be trampled upon by others, if he is willing to be stepped on by others years later without having the right to fight back, if he is willing to be a lower-class person his entire life rather than become an upper-class person, then you have the right to decide his life. But if he chooses not to take this path, then as parents, you cannot deprive him of the freedom to choose, nor can you allow your child to resent you years later. The only thing you can do is to make your child thankful, knowing that his parents are his most solid support, and that no matter what decision he makes, his parents will always support him behind the scenes!”

”Grandpa, I understand. Don’t worry. But I want to make a promise with you. If my child chooses to pursue a different path in life, then none of us should place the burden of the Zhang family’s responsibilities on him. Let her do what she wants to do freely. I don’t want my child to grow up slowly bearing the pressure placed on him by the family, a pressure that can suffocate a person. I don’t want my child to slowly grow up having to endure all the pain. I really can’t stand it!

But if my child ultimately chooses to take this path, then I will resolutely support him. I’ll let him know that even if the whole world abandons her, I, as a mother, will never abandon her. I will always be by her side, silently contributing, always cheering for her. I’ll let him know that someday he can still become an upper-class person, and all of this effort will result solely from his hard work!”

Old Master Zhang did not expect his granddaughter-in-law to suddenly say such things. He was a bit taken aback. If there had been such an agreement earlier, things wouldn’t have become so tricky, nor so complicated. Everyone chooses different paths in life. This path may become your glorious avenue or possibly your abyss of pain. No one can control their destiny, and no one can make everything turn out exactly as they envisioned. What can change is that your efforts will eventually be rewarded, otherwise, no matter how much you give, you will ultimately end up empty-handed.

”Since you’ve said it so plainly, I have no choice but to make this agreement with you. I hope you remember what you said today. I also believe that your child will choose to continue down this path, no matter how many thorns may be ahead, no matter how many difficulties, and no matter what may happen. I believe he will continue with this decision.

Because no member of the Zhang family is a loafer, and every member of the Zhang family is proud and determined; they can give up everything for their ideals. Because every one of the Zhang family has an unchangeable backbone, he would never be an exception because he is a true descendant of the Zhang family!

No matter what your child does, we shouldn’t use it as a gamble. But today, we have no choice but to do so, maybe this really will make our child feel like we’re just using him as a means to gain benefits. But this decision today may also make our child grateful to us, or make him feel like we’ve only ever used him as a tool, never caring about his true feelings. Regardless of the result, it cannot change the child’s impression of us!”

”Grandpa, everything I do isn’t meant to change my son’s perception of me as a mother. All I want is for him to have the opportunity to choose his own life. I just hope he doesn’t regret his choice. If this is the life he truly wants, then as his mother, how could I interfere with his life and destroy his happiness? I just want him to know that the choice he made must be carried out step by step, no matter the outcome, even if it takes a bloody footprint at a time, he must not retreat, and he cannot give up halfway!

It might be that everyone educates their children in different ways, but I really didn’t expect that there would ultimately be a divergence in the way we educate our children. We actually have the same mentality towards our children, but no one ever thought that we would eventually determine which path our children should take in such a way, which path would be the best outcome for them!”

Actually, how could Old Master Zhang have expected that his granddaughter-in-law would propose such an agreement today? Such an agreement might not necessarily be a good thing for anyone, nor is it necessarily a bad thing. No one can decide what the future holds, no one can foresee unknown dangers and difficulties. We can only take one step at a time, but none of them will know. After Zhang Ni knew that his grandpa and mom made such a bet, he still resolutely chose the path he was on now. He never regretted choosing this path; on the contrary, he felt that choosing this path was the right decision. He wanted to have a life of his own, a life that wouldn’t be given up on due to anyone’s interference, nor changed because of anyone’s decision.

Who could have known that his future path would be more glorious than his biological father’s, more thrilling, and no one knows how lively his future family would be. He doesn’t know how many brothers and sisters he will have in the future, nor does he know what kind of path he will eventually face, but he always insists on walking the path he chose!

Even if the future path he takes is too arduous, he still chooses to complete his life journey...

”Mid-Autumn Festival, under the hedge, what should I do now to bring her back to my side? Has my happiness ended like this?”
