Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 551: Chapter 50: Three Stages

How can a human hit a Wolf Mink from twenty meters away in the dark?

Greg couldn’t resist asking this question on the most popular AI software right now.

But unfortunately.

The answer was: Server busy, please try again later.

However, a local Hunter Guide gave Greg an answer.

”I can, but the hit rate is extremely, extremely low. After all, a Wolf Mink is not a dead object. If the Wolf Mink doesn’t move, the hit probability is about thirty percent.”

The Hunter Guide said: ”After all, Chen Wen had the moonlight and starlight shining, so it wasn’t complete darkness.”

If it were complete darkness, that would be quite exaggerated.

However, at that time there was starlight, and the Hunter Guide felt that, with a bit of luck, hitting it wasn’t completely impossible.

But nonetheless, most people still feel that Chen Wen’s spear-throwing technique is indeed unfathomable.

Only Lin Jiawei knew better than others.

Chen Wen wouldn’t joke around with the animals he had tamed.

If he dared to throw the long spear, it means he has a hundred percent chance of hitting the Wolf Mink!

Which means, Chen Wen can rely on some special means to distinguish between a Wolf Mink and a red fox at about twenty meters.

And accurately kill the Wolf Mink with the long spear without injuring the red fox!

To this extent, even a world-class spear-throwing champion couldn’t achieve it, right?

Lin Jiawei thought, but didn’t say it aloud.

However, the shock in his heart was greater than others.

...

Meanwhile, Chen Wen.

After carrying the Wolf Mink back, he took a rest.

It wasn’t until the next day.

He took the morning time to process the Wolf Mink.

Then put it in the smoker.

And by the way, repaired the other side of the shelter.

Under Chen Wen’s diligent efforts, his shelter was completely finished by the fifteenth day of survival!

The speed is not considered fast, but also definitely not slow.

After all, his shelter was much more complex than most people’s shelters.

And at the same time, except for Hua Yun, all other contestants’ shelters were also completed.

Those who can come here are not novices, the speed of shelter construction wasn’t particularly outrageous either.

Even Shijing Heren and Gaston, their shelters were pretty decent.

The completion of the shelter also means that contestants had established a stable foothold by Great Slave Lake.

Next was the hunting stage with food storage as the main task.

Generally speaking, wilderness solo has three stages.

The first stage is the first fifteen to twenty days, which Chen Wen called the basic stage.

The main task of this stage is to build a shelter and complete some other things.

Like traps, thorn nets, and other key tools for catching prey.

The second stage starts from twenty days until heavy snowfall seals the mountains, which is around sixty days.

Chen Wen called this the hunting stage.

This stage is mainly about food storage, contestants need to acquire a large amount of food during this stage.

Whether it’s meat or berries, this vegetarian sort, both need to be stored on a large scale.

This stage is both to compensate for the energy loss in the early stage, allowing the body to return to a normal state; and to meet the current hunting need, keeping physical strength in full state; and also to store a large amount of food for the last stage.

It’s a very, very crucial stage, concerning the championship attribution.

And the third stage, which is the last stage.

Chen Wen called this the stalemate stage.

During this time, heavy snowfall seals the mountains, making it inconvenient to go out, most of the time contestants are active near the shelter.

In terms of hunting, prey is difficult to find, and the difficulty of hunting is extremely high.

Only ice fishing is considered the most fitting hunting activity.

But the efficiency is very low.

Therefore, this stage is mostly about consuming the reserves of the second stage.

It’s also a test of willpower.

Living alone for a hundred days without internet, facing survival pressure every day upon waking up.

The demands on mental and psychological strength are very high.

This is Chen Wen’s understanding of wilderness solo.

In his view, the dividing line between the first and second stage is the completion time of the shelter.

Once the shelter is completed, the current main task shifts to acquiring food.

Therefore, on the morning of the fifteenth day.

After Chen Wen opened his eyes, he began contemplating hunting matters.

He doesn’t know bow hunting.

His only remote attack method is throwing the long spear.

Trap hunting, he is most skilled in basic snare traps.

He isn’t adept at traps for large prey.

Therefore, for hunting large prey, he can only rely on spear throwing.

But the forest terrain is not quite suitable for spear throwing, so this stage is a very severe test for him.

If he can’t acquire enough food, he simply won’t withstand the later stages.

However, Chen Wen also has strengths.

Among all contestants, he is the only one capable of hunting in cooperation with animals.

The red fox and Wolf Mink can be used as hunting dogs.

But when he woke up this morning, the red fox and Wolf Mink were not in the shelter.

They probably went out to find prey.

When they come back, he needs to have a discussion about hunting.

Having nothing to do, Chen Wen sat on the ground to analyze his current situation.

Currently, his snare trap is losing effectiveness.

The group of arctic hares died too many, probably causing psychological shadows over that area, starting migration.

His snare trap hasn’t yielded a catch for several days now.

So the next step is to try changing the position of the trap and seek new game trails.

Secondly, the thorn net hasn’t shown any movement since setting it out a few days ago.

This has left Chen Wen quite disappointed.

He plans to check the thorn net this afternoon.

If there’s still no yield, then switch location to fish elsewhere.

Lastly, the special types of animals.

The red fox and Wolf Mink are sufficient.

But Chen Wen needs more high-quality entries.

So, going forward, if he encounters special animals, he can attempt taming them.

After summarizing his situation, Chen Wen stood up.

He had breakfast and started pondering his activities for the morning.

”This morning... try to explore the surroundings, look for wild animals nearby, especially gathering spots for rabbits.”

Chen Wen planned for the morning’s tasks: ”Rabbits, although low in fat, are meat nonetheless, and their leather can be tanned to make rabbit fur hats or rabbit fur gloves.”

”Speaking of animal leather...”

Chen Wen turned to look at the bear hide.

This hide has been processed by Chen Wen into a soft and warm blanket.

Put in the shelter, it can be used as both a blanket and a sleeping bag.

”First, deal with this bear hide, tidy up the shelter a bit. Now that the shelter is completely finished, I should improve the quality of life.”

Chen Wen mumbled, taking the bear hide down from the rack.

Once he got the bear hide, Chen Wen felt the softness.

Unlike previous roughly tanned leather, this bear hide’s softness after tanning is much higher than those leathers.

Although not as good as industrially made blankets, it’s not much off either.

Therefore, after taking down the bear hide, Chen Wen tried draping it.

”Oh boy, this thing is really multifunctional!”

Chen Wen felt the softness and warmth of the bear hide, particularly delighted: ”Can be used as a blanket, also a sleeping bag, draped over is even a cloak, amazing, one hide, three uses!”

After storing the bear hide, Chen Wen also cleared the items in the shelter’s living area.

They were berries and fungi collected before.

These things were dried by Chen Wen into dry goods that can be preserved for a long time, placed in the storage area, staying away from the fireplace they should last for dozens of days without issue.

After moving the dry goods to the storage area.

Chen Wen took his weapon, planning to go out and look for new trap placement locations.
