Chapter 594: Chapter 93: Trap Disabled

Seeing the gray bear slowly approaching, Chen Wen slowed his breathing, making himself even less noticeable.

At this moment, the wolf mink and the red fox had already escaped to a distant place.

Here, only Chen Wen was left to face the gray bear alone.

He watched as the massive gray bear approached the bait.

The gray bear didn’t approach immediately.

It appeared cautious, using its paw to tap the ground near the bait.

A moment later, feeling that there was no danger, the gray bear slowly approached the bait.

Fragrant!

This was the gray bear’s only perception of the bait.

But besides the aroma, the bait had no other advantages.

At this time, the flames on the bait had extinguished, and with the cold weather, it had returned to an edible temperature.

The gray bear used its paw to paw at the bait, slowly moving its nose closer.

A moment later, it opened its mouth, cautiously biting a charred piece of meat.

But just as the gray bear got the meat in its mouth,

from above, Chen Wen made his move!

He resolutely pushed down the thorn net tied with the log.

As the log rolled down, the thorn net unfolded, and the trap descended on the gray bear with the heavy sound of rushing wind.

The bear’s ears twitched, seemingly sensing something.

But it had no time to react before the thorn net covered it.

The log also fell heavily to the ground.

The gray bear’s body shook, its fur quivering like snow falling from a pine tree.

Got it!

Chen Wen’s face slightly changed, and he immediately threw a stone spear.

But in the next moment, something surprising happened to Chen Wen.

This gray bear, after being trapped by the thorn net, began to struggle violently.

Whether it was the bear’s luck or Chen Wen’s misfortune was unclear.

During the struggle, the thorn net was moved by the bear, blocking the spear.

The stone spear struck the thorn net but couldn’t penetrate, instead bouncing off.

The bear, under attack, became even more frightened.

It vigorously pushed at the log with its paw, raising it some.

Then, it stretched its head and pushed the log onto its neck.

The gray bear lifted its head strenuously, ignoring the sting on its back, and quickly pushed the log aside, escaping from the trap.

This thing is really damn smart!

Throwing out two stone spears, Chen Wen couldn’t help but sigh.

His plan was good enough, but the gray bear’s ability to adapt was truly impressive.

With just a push of its paw and a lift of its head, it escaped.

Taking advantage of the moment when the gray bear appeared a bit dazed after escaping, Chen Wen again threw a stone spear, aiming at the bear’s chest.

Swish!

The stone spear pierced the bear’s skin, but only just pierced the skin.

The gray bear felt the sting and let out a series of angry roars.

This attack made the bear realize the enemy was overhead.

It raised its round head, looking up, just in time to meet Chen Wen’s gaze.

Roar!

A series of angry growls erupted, and the gray bear charged to the base of the tree where Chen Wen was, attempting to climb and attack him.

Gray bears can climb trees.

Although not as agile as black bears, their large and strong paws can easily carry them up trees.

However, since this was the period before hibernation, the bear’s weight was at its heaviest of the year.

It only climbed a little before losing its strength, getting stuck about five meters from the ground.

After a moment of hesitation, the gray bear gave up climbing.

It jumped back to the ground.

Meanwhile, Chen Wen, while the bear was climbing, again used a stone spear against it.

But the effect was minimal.

The bear’s skin was tough and thick.

It could only pierce and cause superficial wounds.

No, to kill this gray bear, a long spear must be used!

Chen Wen thought to himself, taking out the long spear.

The steel-made long spear was completely different from the stone spear, its sharp tip flashing coldly, making the bear below hesitate a bit.

It sensed something was wrong.

The creature attacking it had taken out something threatening!

The gray bear hesitated, letting out a series of low growls.

A desire to retreat arose within it.

If this creature remained in the tree, staying here might get it hurt!

As it thought, the desire to retreat grew stronger.

But soon, it vanished.

Because Chen Wen came down from the tree.

...

Moments before, when Chen Wen saw the bear’s actions, he judged that it was a bit fearful.

Many animals aren’t as stupid as people think.

On the contrary, to survive and reproduce in the wild, animals possess their own unique intelligence.

The gray bear is no exception.

There are many videos online about gray bears.

Some of these videos show humans with weapons while gray bears approach to attack.

Initially, they act nonchalantly, trying to get close to humans.

But when humans pull out the carbon-based creature pacifier—a gun,

most gray bears turn around and leave.

They can sense the threat!

This time, Chen Wen’s long spear was no different.

This long spear had been with Chen Wen in this forest for a long time, having been used to hunt many animals.

The blood on it had coagulated into a scab-like layer.

Even though Chen Wen had tried to clean it, the stuff stuck stubbornly.

The mixed scent of blood on it made the bear calm down.

However, Chen Wen didn’t want the bear to escape.

If it escaped from the hunt this time, it would likely seek revenge later.

Gray bears also hold grudges!

They are quite vengeful creatures.

So it must not escape!

With this intention, Chen Wen decisively came down from the tree, intending to engage the bear, and as expected, the bear showed aggression upon seeing Chen Wen come down.

The gray bear let out a series of roars.

Contrary to accounts, this time, the bear showed extreme aggression.

It roared while approaching Chen Wen.

Chen Wen held the long spear horizontally, shouting to intimidate the bear, preventing it from getting closer.

Apparently, Chen Wen’s shouting worked.

The bear’s speed slowed, and it began to approach Chen Wen slowly.

Climbing the surrounding trees along the way.

Seemingly taking a strategic position.

But Chen Wen knew it was exerting pressure.

Bears, or most bears when attacking, take higher ground.

This provides an oppressive feeling, enhancing their momentum, suppressing the opponent.

This tactic was usually infallible.

But this time it met its nemesis.

Seeing the bear’s moves, Chen Wen immediately pulled out a stone spear, holding it in his left hand.

Taking advantage of the moment when the bear was descending the tree, Chen Wen suddenly threw the stone spear upright.

The bear couldn’t dodge, its body landing straight onto the spear.

A crisp cracking sound was heard.

The wooden shaft of the spear broke under the bear’s weight.

But at the same time, the spearhead plunged deeply into the bear’s muscle.

Causing the bear to let out a painful howl.

...

Such quick action!

Such courage!

Seeing Chen Wen’s attack, the guides behind the screen were surprised.

They knew that after Chen Wen came down from the tree, he maintained a distance of about five meters from the bear.

If the bear charged, it would be hard for him to react.

But Chen Wen not only didn’t widen the distance, but he also moved closer, throwing the spear, utilizing the bear’s weight to pierce it.

Bold yet cautious.

At this moment, Chen Wen perfectly exemplified this term.

But what to do next?

Watching the thoroughly enraged and almost frenzied gray bear, everyone’s hearts tightened once more.
