Chapter 575: Chapter 74: A Difficult Hunt

Hunting reindeer, still facing the herd.

It’s not like most hunting situations, bending the bow and setting the arrow, shooting and leaving it at that.

This type of hunting requires certain planning.

Vini went far away, using sand to judge the wind direction.

Reindeer, as a forest animal, have average vision.

But their sense of smell and hearing are quite keen.

Vini plans to approach from downwind and act when the distance is within fifty meters of the reindeer.

Bows and arrows are not like long spears.

This thing needs to be at least fifty meters for it to have lethality.

Especially dealing with such large animals; their fur is more resilient, and muscle density is higher.

To pierce vital areas, the distance must be closer.

At the same time, Vini plans to imitate the sound of reindeer to try to attract them.

He is good at hunting, naturally also skilled at using a mimicry whistle to attract prey.

During adaptive training, he used the mimicry whistle under the guidance of local hunter guides to attract prey.

Also, with the power of money, hunters taught him how to attract reindeer without a mimicry whistle.

The best method among them is imitating female reindeer mating calls.

No matter when, as long as male reindeer hear this sound, they will surely bring the herd closer.

The mimicking method is simple too.

North American reindeer have a relatively coarse ”woo woo” sound.

Different from the ethereal whistle-like calls of elk.

It’s quite simple for humans to imitate.

Therefore, Vini plans to try this method to bring the reindeer closer.

Additionally, he has prepared contingency plans for hunting failure and reindeer counterattacks.

After planning for about ten minutes and confirming the plan was error-free.

Vini began the action!

...

Vini’s hunting this time can be said to be quite eye-catching.

Even director Greg and assistants of other contestants began to watch this scene.

Vini arrived at the forest near the marsh.

He collected some pine needles, crushed them, and smeared them on himself.

These pine needles could greatly mask his scent and make the reindeer less vigilant.

At the same time, he selected a relatively stout tree to store his gear here.

Only carrying a bow and arrow, lightly equipped for the task.

After making preparations, Vini proceeded.

He hunched his body, slowly walking toward the marsh.

The reindeer herd was resting in the marsh, not noticing this side.

Even if noticed, they probably couldn’t clearly see Vini’s figure.

Soon, Vini quietly reached a spot about a hundred meters from the reindeer herd.

He drew out an arrow, set it on the bowstring, ready to shoot.

At this moment, the reindeer herd still hadn’t discovered Vini.

Vini took a deep breath, slowed his breath, and identified his target.

A young reindeer.

The body isn’t very strong, and the size is not large.

Once this reindeer is shot, it will react very violently.

The program issued arrows come with blood slots and barbs; the more the prey struggles, the more it bleeds.

Once the prey loses too much blood, it’s a disaster for them!

Vini continued to approach.

But as the distance came to about fifty meters, the herd seemed to sense something.

The scout reindeer rose from the marsh, seemingly looking toward this side.

Vini did not panic.

These nearsighted ones would need snow accumulation to see him clearly.

Their eyes only play important roles in snowy conditions because North American reindeer can see ultraviolet spectra, allowing them to spot hidden predators and food in the snow.

Without snowfall, this function is suppressed.

But Vini still slowly crawled down.

At this moment, he didn’t care about the marsh’s mud and stagnant water.

After lying down, Vini began trying to attract North American reindeer.

He gathered his hands in front of his mouth and began imitating the mating calls of female North American reindeer as taught by hunters.

”Wu~~~~~~Wu~”

The long call rang out, actually resembling the calls of North American reindeer!

Behind the scenes, hearing this sound, hunter guides couldn’t help nodding slightly.

This young man!

Knows his stuff!

A walking mimicry whistle!

As Vini emitted the call, the herd of reindeer reacted.

They stood up, gazing towards this side.

Some male reindeer couldn’t help but wonder: What’s happening?

Why is there suddenly a strange girl appearing nearby?

And in heat?

If it were humans, in such a situation, most people would have the phrase ”seduction trap” flash in their minds.

But reindeer aren’t humans; they simply think this is a stray female reindeer.

Smelling the air, trying to find this lady.

Even though the call wasn’t that pleasant.

Some male reindeer responded.

This got Vini quite excited, as he imitated the reindeer mating call again, luring this herd of North American reindeer.

Soon.

Under Vini’s lure, the herd slowly approached the sound’s direction.

The seduction trap worked!

Reindeer overcome by lust moved towards this direction, unaware of the knife above their heads represented by lust!

Seeing the reindeer approaching, especially the target reindeer coming closer.

Vini was thrilled.

He very slowly raised the bow in front of himself, setting the arrow.

Slowly drawing the bow, aiming at the target.

As the target approached, Vini silently counted the distance.

Thirty meters, twenty meters...

Fifteen meters!

This distance is quite close!

Also, at this moment, the reindeer sensed something was wrong.

Where is the lady?

She was just here?

Also, why is there a strange scent here?

Some reindeer even tilted their heads, looking at Vini’s hiding spot.

Can’t approach any closer, or he will surely be discovered!

Vini aimed at the target, suddenly releasing the arrow!

Whoosh!

The arrow was released, the bowstring startled the deer!

The North American reindeer sensed something wrong immediately and halted.

The next second.

Woo!

The young reindeer let out a miserable howl.

It jumped violently!

Accompanied by the jump, a slender arrow pierced its chest like a chopstick.

Pain!

Fire-burning pain spread from the skin inward.

Blood flowed out and even flooded into the torn trachea from the arrow.

After landing, the reindeer fled backward.

But before running a few steps, its nose sprayed some blood mist.

Hit!

Vini went wild at seeing this scene!

The vital area was hit!

This reindeer is doomed!

But now isn’t the time to harvest food.

The large herd sensed the threat.

But unlike the brave muskox, because they don’t know the attacker’s whereabouts, they scattered and fled.

Seeing a male reindeer charging towards him, Vini’s face turned green, quickly getting up from the ground to dodge.

But his emergence caused chaos.

The approaching reindeer was startled by him, hastily changing direction, yet its large body carried inertia, colliding with Vini.

Vini couldn’t dodge in time, getting tagged by an antler.

Pain!

He clutched his waist, collapsing in the marsh.

The North American reindeer that knocked Vini down also got very scared.

In panic, it stomped heavily on Vini’s body.

”Ah!”

Vini let out a miserable scream, making everyone in the program group hold their breath!

How is he?

Where is the injury?

Does he need rescue?

The program group even experienced some chaos.

Fortunately, director Greg and the guides were experienced and quickly calmed everyone down.

Still, no one knew the situation with Vini.

Could it be that this top survivor just achieved hunting success and must withdraw from the competition?
