Chapter 586: Chapter 85: The First to Be Eliminated

I’m exhausted!

Chen Wen lay on the bed, not even bothering with the bloodstains on his body.

After gulping down some tea, he collapsed onto the bed with a look of utter defeat.

Tired!

Hungry!

Thirsty!

But after quenching his thirst, Chen Wen had no intention of moving.

Hungry or not, it’s not like I’ll starve to death.

Let’s rest and recover some strength first.

This time, the intensity of Chen Wen’s work was almost on par with when he hunted the bay crocodile.

He felt his body was nearing its limit.

Damn it, [Giant Strength] only boosted my power, but barely increased my stamina.

Chen Wen grumbled to himself.

If it weren’t for his constant training and his natural physical fitness from years of labor on fishing boats,

he might not have been able to pull through this time.

But now, he had stored all his food in the shelter’s storage room.

For the foreseeable future, he wouldn’t need to worry about food!

However, as he lay in bed resting, Chen Wen suddenly remembered something.

He sat up abruptly, ignoring his aching body, and staggered outside the shelter, calling for Eagle.

”The weather’s not too bad right now, fly over to the lake where you had porcupine meat last time and see if the fishing net’s still there!”

Chen Wen couldn’t help but say.

He had forgotten about the fishing net while dealing with the musk ox!

Last time, with the wind blowing and the pike dragging the net away,

Chen Wen had added a significant weight to the net to secure it.

It was much sturdier than before.

But with such strong winds...

Chen Wen mentally prepared for the worst.

At worst, I won’t eat fish anymore!

He could always ensure a food supply through continuous hunting!

Eagle, hearing this, immediately flapped its wings and flew off.

He waited with bated breath for about ten minutes or so.

Eagle returned.

It said excitedly, ”Human, rest assured, the fishing net’s still there, though it’s a bit askew.”

As long as it’s still there!

Chen Wen exhaled a long sigh of relief.

Reassured, he lay back inside the shelter and fell into a deep sleep.

...

While Chen Wen was sleeping.

On the show’s side.

Greg met the first contestant to be eliminated today—Shijing Heren.

”You did quite well; it’s also our fault this time. The survival period was extended by thirty days, wasting your most precious development time.”

Greg comforted Shijing Heren with a couple of sentences.

Shijing Heren barely nodded and said, ”I understand, don’t worry director, I’m actually okay.”

Okay, my ass!

Shijing Heren had just found out he was the first contestant to be eliminated!

Meanwhile, the other contestants, even the only female, Hua Yun, were faring comparatively well!

Especially Chen Wen, Vini, and Fred.

One had hunted a black bear and a musk ox, another a North American reindeer, and the other also a black bear.

The formidable capabilities these three showcased left Shijing Heren feeling an enormous gap.

Particularly the scene of Chen Wen hunting the musk ox.

He had just watched the video.

The powerful spear-throwing technique shocked him thoroughly.

But he had nothing more to say at this moment.

After exchanging a few simple words, he supported his waist and limped to his room to rest.

Waiting for additional video recording and a physical examination.

However, after returning to his room, he secretly sent the recorded video to his mentor—Yoshikawa Feng, who had been defeated by Chen Wen.

There was a long silence on the other end, so long that Shijing Heren thought his mentor hadn’t seen the message.

If not for the ”read” notification feature.

About an hour later, there finally came a reply from the other end.

”Well done, I got it.”

Yoshikawa Feng’s feelings were quite complex at the moment.

Damn, what’s going on?

How long has it been, and Chen Wen seems to have grown even stronger?!

...

”How was Shijing Heren eliminated?”

On the show’s side.

Director Greg curiously asked.

”There were actually signs a few days ago.”

The monitor responsible for overseeing Shijing Heren said, ”His shelter was entirely made of wood, and he didn’t use large logs, just slender pieces.”

”Also, his waterproof cloth was poorly laid out, so when the strong winds came, it blew the cloth right away.”

”Later, he ran wildly in the forest trying to retrieve the cloth, and ended up misstepping and falling.”

”He had fallen once before during the rain, and for the past two days, he felt some discomfort in his waist. This fall aggravated his injuries, making them fully manifest.”

Upon hearing this, Greg didn’t say much.

This kid was just making up the numbers anyway.

Out of ten contestants, at least the first one got eliminated on the eighteenth day.

The pace is not fast.

This also indicates from the side that the contestants this time have very high quality.

It’s much better than before when two or three were eliminated within just three to five days.

...

After returning to his room, Greg also started reviewing today’s logs.

Contestant One, Adam, remains stable.

The strong wind didn’t greatly affect him, besides some traps being damaged, there were no other impacts.

Contestant Two, Phil.

The weather changes have affected him quite significantly.

Mainly because his food—various birds of the Galliformes order—were compelled by the wind not to come out.

These past two days, there’s no hope for any catch from his traps.

Contestant Three, Vic.

The phrase ”alive yet lifeless” describes him most aptly now.

This heavyweight archer hasn’t encountered his desired big game yet and has had to rely on shooting rabbits to get by.

He’s become severely emaciated from hunger.

However, if he can encounter big game, it will alleviate his current condition.

Contestant Four, Gaston.

Greg is now somewhat suspicious if this guy has some trick up his sleeve!

His luck is unbelievably good!

This guy’s shelter is situated in a densely wooded area; the strong winds barely affected it.

Besides, in the morning, Gaston happened to be fixing his fishing net and brought it ashore.

The strong wind didn’t damage his net.

This guy’s success in fishing has been so abundant that he’s been almost getting a stomachache from eating so much fish these days.

He’s thinking of finding some vegetables to balance it.

In short, the title ”Lucky Fish King” has been bestowed on Gaston, saying it all.

Contestant Five, Roland.

No major movements currently, but he’s stored a lot of food.

However, it’s all vegetarian.

His shelter is also incredibly solid; it’s a stone house like Chen Wen’s.

Contestant Six, Shijing Heren, eliminated.

Contestant Seven, Vini, is living quite comfortably.

After hunting, this fellow successfully stored reindeer meat.

However, he got trampled a few times by the reindeer, making his body feel a bit unwell.

These two days, he’s been recuperating.

Contestant Eight, Hua Yun.

The strong wind affected her the most after Shijing Heren.

Her shelter was partly destroyed by the strong wind.

Luckily, she was outside at the time, not pinned inside, so she didn’t get hurt.

Apart from that, she’s managing albeit barely.

But if she can’t rebuild her shelter within five days, she’ll be in trouble.

Contestant Nine, Chen Wen, needs no description.

Contestant Ten, Fred, is enjoying the bear meat.

Meanwhile, yesterday he encountered a grizzly bear.

Fred has taken an interest in the grizzly.
