Pokemon: My Trainer Simulator

Chapter 551: Chapter 408: Imitation Vanilla_2

”Esteemed guest, what would you like today?”

The store owner, dressed in a kimono, came out with a friendly smile, a pipe dangling from his mouth.

Baimu handed him a list, ”Please help me find the herbs on this list. The price is negotiable, but I want high quality ones.”

The store owner squinted his eyes and, through the smoke, managed to read the text on the list, ”Oh! These are quite rare herbs!”

”I wouldn’t come to you for common ones.”

”Ooh! I like hearing that! Are you familiar with any regular customers?”

”Not really, I read the reviews online and decided to check it out on my own.”

”The internet... Aha...”

The two walked among various herbs, fresh, dried, and those already made into certain medicines, all displayed before Baimu and Blissey.

Suddenly.

Baimu pointed at a herb that looked like weed and asked, ”Boss, what’s this?”

Honestly, he thought the thing was just a weed, but there are many herbs he didn’t know in the world, so he might as well ask the boss to expand his knowledge.

”This one? This is wild oats.”

”Wild oats?”

”Yes, they’re commonly used to feed Pokémon like Tauros, Miltank, and Ponyta. These things are common as weeds in Johto and the Kandong Region but hard to grow in the Hoenn Region. If you have these types of Pokémon, you can buy some to help with digestive health.”

”Hmm... What about that?”

”That is...”

Baimu asked while the store owner answered, the latter patiently explained several questions without any annoyance, even actively educating him.

Although the amount and value of herbs purchased were quite significant, such patience was still commendable.

”Eh, is this a plantain leaf?”

His steps halted in front of a herb resembling plantain leaves, from the inside out splitting into three colors, not much bigger than a plantain.

The store owner, seeing it, was somewhat surprised and said, ”Imitation Vanilla? How did this end up here! Really!”

”Imitation Vanilla?”

Baimu picked up a leaf to examine it.

Generally, herbs with these ”special” names possess effects in Pokémon battles, such as electric seeds or Powerful Vanilla.

”Yes, I imported this from the Padia Region. They say when used in battle, it can enhance a Pokémon’s ability to match others at the same level. Its price is expensive.”

The store owner scratched his head, ”And it’s also said to help Pokémon learn moves, quite popular in breeding centers!”

Baimu paused upon hearing this and asked, ”Learning moves? How does it work?”

”I’m not sure about the details. Breeding centers wouldn’t share their secrets with me. Would you like to buy some and try it out?” The store owner gave a sly merchant-like smile.

”...I’ll buy a small portion first.”

He hesitated and bought a small amount.

Because, as the store owner said, it’s quite expensive, and if it turns out to be useless, returning it might be troublesome.

Having acquired the herbs from the list and the newly encountered Imitation Vanilla, Baimu left with a full load.

The other places will have to wait.

He was currently very curious about the Imitation Vanilla.

Back at the hotel.

Mawile leaned against the bed surrounded by dolls, engrossed in playing with a phone, smiling broadly, making him unable to resist taking a peek—

Watching an anime like Sailor Moon with Porygon.

How did it feel like spending 300,000 to get a video player for Mawile?

Baimu shook his head, not interfering with how Mawile used it.

”Achoo! Achoo! Achoo!”

From behind, Hydreigon sneezed thrice, almost blowing its mind out, looking at the vegetable basket carried by Blissey with a hint of dread, not daring to approach.

It flew a little towards its trainer and was repelled by the smell again, letting out a whimpering sound.

Occasionally, having a sensitive nose was not a good thing.

Baimu decided to take Blissey to the bathroom for a quick wash, while Milotic curled up in the bathtub blowing bubbles, feeling rather bored because the room was quite narrow.

”...I’ll take you out tonight!”

He whispered.

Upon hearing this, Milotic immediately smiled, wrapping its long serpentine body around him, ”Migo~”

”No! Agh! My clothes are soaked.”

Baimu looked at his wet T-shirt, helplessly remarked.

Milotic sheepishly stuck out its tongue and hid back in the bathtub, resembling a mermaid or sea serpent being fostered in a bathtub...

After being forced to change his clothes again, Baimu quickly began searching for information related to Imitation Vanilla.

This search was quite the find, revealing a paper written by the familiar Dr. Kukui.

The document described some Pokémon possessing innate strong moves known as genetic moves, unattainable through learning or understanding.

Imitation Vanilla was suspected to enable Pokémon to learn these special genetic moves from other Pokémon.

Then, a few cases were presented to illustrate the point.

For example, Pokémon commonly seen like Rattata and Pidgey.

Dr. Kukui concluded that Imitation Vanilla indeed had special effects on Pokémon learning moves—

Truly, a doctorate dedicated to the study of moves.

Baimu reflected on this for a while, comprehending most of it. He already had some knowledge about the settings and peculiarities of genetic moves.

He raised his head, took a deep breath, looking at Aggron with excitement, ”Big Monster! Your Double-bladed Head Hammer has a hope now!”

Imitation Vanilla from the Padia Region was related to genetic moves.

Most likely, it was a modified version of the Egg Move mechanics.

Since the eighth generation, GF has established settings to allow Pokémon to learn Egg Moves from their kind, facilitating players in learning genetic moves.

It seemed the function of Imitation Vanilla was enabling Pokémon to learn Egg Moves from non-kind Pokémon, with the probability that the opposing Pokémon need not be only Egg Moves; just having the move in its roster was sufficient.

”Grrrr?”

Aggron approached, baffled, completely not understanding what the trainer meant.

What does it mean, the Double-bladed Head Hammer has a hope? Just like that?

Baimu detailed his hypothesis to Aggron, smiling broadly, ”I’ll buy more Imitation Vanilla later and contact trainers whose Pokémon know Double-bladed Head Hammer!”

”Grrrr...”

Aggron seemed to nod in understanding.

It didn’t possess the experience of playing Pokémon games across eight generations, unlike Baimu, making it hard to comprehend the trainer’s thinking process.

However, since the trainer was so happy, it decided not to overthink.

A half-hour later.

Baimu again purchased a large pack of Imitation Vanilla and tried to inquire from Tetsuya which trainer in Mauville City had Pokémon knowing Double-bladed Head Hammer.

He trusted that Tetsuya, being familiar with Mauville City’s trainers, could locate Pokémon knowing Double-bladed Head Hammer.

Though Double-bladed Head Hammer is heavily potent, akin to an Ultimate Move of the Rock Attribute Physical Attack Type, many Pokémon can learn it, from Onix and Nidoran♂ to Corsola and Nosepass, and even the recently encountered Archeops.

Unexpectedly, he was given a surprise from the other party.

Tetsuya: ’For Double-bladed Head Hammer, my Donphan can use it. What’s up?’

Baimu: ’Really? That’s great! Let me tell you...’

He explained the matter of Imitation Vanilla to Tetsuya along with his wish to help Aggron learn Double-bladed Head Hammer.

Tetsuya: ’If it’s just helping to learn moves, I’m more than willing. But is this Imitation Vanilla... really reliable? Seems quite pricey.’

Baimu: ’As long as there’s a chance, I want to seize it, so I rely on you!’

Tetsuya: ’No problem! Wishing you victory tomorrow!’

Baimu: ’Thank you!’

The two made plans to start learning Double-bladed Head Hammer tomorrow night.

Tonight, the focus was on preparing for tomorrow’s Gym Challenge. Judging by previous Gym Challenge experiences, Tie Xuan likely won’t pull out any weak Pokémon this time.

He couldn’t help but recall the encounter with the Magnezone.

Would there be a Rotom?

Baimu looked at Mawile playing on the phone and pondered.
