Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 448: Chapter 321: Just the Right Amount of Additional Amplification at the Foot of the Snow Mountain

At this moment, the sky was slightly brightening. Xu Xin and Li Wenxi were both gazing silently at the giant peak in the distance, lost in thought.

Just then, Xu Xin heard a notification.

[Detected tree house decoration level over 500, gained today’s random augmentation: arm strength augmentation, effective for one day. Additionally, you can select a second augmentation from historical augmentations.]

Arm strength augmentation?

Xu Xin immediately felt a surge of heat flowing crazily through his arms, before finally calming down.

At the same time, he felt his arms filled with power, different from mere strength augmentation, akin to yesterday’s jumping power augmentation, as if his arms were transformed, infused with an inexplicable force.

Another augmentation of physical abilities.

Yesterday was jumping power augmentation, enhancing his legs. Today, it’s enhancing the arms?

However...

This augmentation seems to have arrived just in time!

If they were to climb the mountain, this arm strength augmentation would be a great aid indeed!

He felt that his arms were now incredibly strong; if he were to grip the rock face, fatigue and inability to hold steady wouldn’t be an issue. Instead, exerting force might make him leap upwards just like with the jumping power augmentation.

A good augmentation!

This random augmentation seems tailored to appear alongside the giant peak.

”What’s up?” Li Wenxi noticed Xu Xin staring at his hands silently, his expression slightly joyful, and asked curiously.

”Nothing, today’s random augmentation came.” Xu Xin smiled and explained his day’s augmentation to her.

”Isn’t that just perfect?” Li Wenxi was a bit envious, ”It’s really nice, this random augmentation brings small surprises every day!”

[Random augmentation] is a reward during the first phase’s rainy season for those on the rainy season activity leaderboard, meaning those who dispelled the waterspouts before dark. Globally, only a few dozen people have received this reward.

Since the second phase began, he hadn’t received such a special ability for a long time. He wondered if this giant peak might bring some surprises.

At this point, an unpleasant noise from the teleportation portal emerged and reached their ears.

The two glanced out the window.

Outside, everything was covered in snow. Though the snow around the tree house wasn’t very deep, it had buried most of the coordinates, yet it didn’t affect the condensation of the teleportation portal’s outlet, a purple-black vortex.

The vortex fluctuated, and Ji Chaoyang leaped out from the portal, landing into the snow over a meter deep.

Xu Xin and Li Wenxi exchanged a glance, then swung down from the tree house together.

The area around the tree house, initially cleared of snow, now also had a meter-thick layer of snow.

The two wrapped snow fox scarves around themselves. Xu Xin took out a fully charged electric skateboard, embraced Li Wenxi by the waist, and stepped onto the board.

With a slight tap of his back foot, the motor whirred, the skateboard instantly started, reaching Ji Chaoyang’s side in seconds.

Ji Chaoyang was wearing goggles, looking northwest, carefully observing the peak less than a kilometer away from this spot.

”How is it? Any discoveries? Are there mentions of these giant peaks in your prophecy?” Xu Xin’s snowboard stopped in front of Ji Chaoyang. Ji Chaoyang’s previous prophecy had come true yesterday morning; now, there should be a new prophecy.

Ji Chaoyang turned, removed his goggles, his gaze somewhat grave: ”My next prophecy is a scene exploring a closed space, somewhat similar to our last cave entrance. I assumed it was underground. But now it seems it might have something to do with these stone pillar peaks.”

”Are you saying we might be able to enter the interior of this stone pillar peak?” Li Wenxi, also wearing snow goggles, analyzed the stone peak.

”I tend more towards... climbing up to take a look.” Ji Chaoyang stared at the snow-covered peak nearby, speaking slowly.

Then, surprisingly, he glanced at Li Wenxi; he hadn’t expected her to be one step ahead.

”Indeed, the grappling hook in the points store is perhaps designed for climbing this stone pillar snow peak.” Xu Xin lifted the retractable grappling hook already worn on his wrist.

”There aren’t any unusual creatures or markings on this giant peak’s rock face, but judging by appearances, it seemingly looks like a normal stone pillar peak.” Ji Chaoyang analyzed.

”We can only approach it to explore.”

The three withdrew their gazes from the stone peak.

”Perhaps, we can just ignore it and mind our own business?” Li Wenxi suggested, ”It doesn’t seem to be affecting us much.”

Ji Chaoyang shook his head: ”Anything appearing in this world has a reason. This might be similar to the first phase’s activity, a unique activity of this phase. Survivors who don’t explore might lose something.”

Xu Xin’s thoughts were slightly different: ”Not every tree house nearby has a stone pillar peak. There is one every six or seven tree houses. It’s not easy for those far away to come over. Not everyone might need to explore it, but considering this second phase leans towards team cooperation, we ’Explorers’ should at least fully understand one stone pillar peak to know what it represents.”

”...You have a point, I’ll go back and prepare a bit. I originally planned to ask you to explore that giant’s stone arm today; I thought the scene in my prophecy was while exploring the stone arm. But now, it seems it’s best to prioritize exploring this snow peak,” Ji Chaoyang rubbed his temples, admitting that today’s change was indeed unexpected.
