Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 409: Chapter 304 Li Wenxi’s Kiss_2

”... Oh, that’s right.” Li Wenxi lifted her head from his embrace, with a suddenly enlightened expression. ”The situation was too urgent just now, I forgot you could see what’s going on here. Since you’re here, can you solve our crisis?”

Li Wenxi squinted up at Xu Xin’s face.

In this state, holding onto him, tilting her head up, with slightly reddened eyes and tear stains on her face, Xu Xin couldn’t help but want to pinch her cheek.

At that moment, another mutant creature charged at them, its blood pattern glowing, and Xu Xin casually swung his halberd, slicing it in half.

He then reached out to wipe the tears off Li Wenxi’s face, pinching her cheek: ”Of course I can solve it. Things were much more severe on my side than yours. I only came over after dealing with it. What, seeing me made you cry tears of joy?”

”No way...” Li Wenxi looked down, a bit embarrassed, rubbing her eyes.

The mutant creatures surrounding the tree house didn’t dare come close but let out threatening growls, as if saying, ”Are you two done yet? Can you still take the battle seriously?”

”Alright, here you go.” Xu Xin handed the energy core fragment to Li Wenxi. ”Hold this, control the tree house roots to hang in mid-air, that way they won’t dare approach the tree house, and you can use explosive bolts to hit targets below.”

”Mm!” Li Wenxi nodded vigorously, taking the energy core fragment, feeling its warmth in her hand. ”What about you? You weren’t planning to...”

”I’m going to charge into the beast herd and unleash havoc.” Xu Xin glanced at the approaching beast herd. With a wave of his halberd, another cluster of mutant creatures fell slain, their blood splattering onto Xu Xin and Li Wenxi. ”After helping you, I have to go check on Sister Xuefei.”

Though blood splattered all over, neither of them minded.

Xu Xin was already stained with blood, and Li Wenxi had just thrown herself into the arms of someone covered in blood, so she was just as drenched.

Li Wenxi didn’t stop him from doing so. Instead, she lifted her head and pecked his cheek lightly, then happily stepped out of his embrace: ”There’s blood on your face, heh heh.”

Xu Xin felt the momentary softness on his cheek and smiled: ”I’m covered in blood.”

”You’re annoying!” Li Wenxi’s cheeks flushed red as she spat lightly, then softly said, ”Be careful.”

Things got very straightforward after that.

Li Wenxi held the energy core fragment, dangling it beneath the tree house’s canopy. Most mutant creatures didn’t dare approach, and those that did were shot to pieces by her crossbow.

On the tree house, Li Yajun and Le Youfang operated the control panel and loaded ammo respectively, launching explosive bolts non-stop, connecting the explosions into a fiery series.

Xu Xin wasn’t idle either, charging into the beast herd, tirelessly reaping the lives of these mutant creatures.

Life energy surged through the halberd handle into his body, exhilarating him.

He stopped dodging attacks, openly swinging his halberd wide, taking out several low-level mutants with each strike.

Bathed in blood, his massacre didn’t induce nausea or numbness. The continuous influx of life energy made him feel almost ethereal.

The slaughter continued for fifteen minutes.

”So strong, so cool...” Li Wenxi hung in mid-air, watching Xu Xin go back and forth through the beast herd, absentmindedly pulling the trigger to explode a mutant creature trying to attack the tree house.

With Xu Xin’s addition and the balance from the energy core fragment, the number of mutant creatures steadily diminished.

Just then, a sharp whistling sounded from afar.

Xu Xin’s ears clearly caught the whistle’s direction. His eyes focused, and he launched himself forty or fifty meters into the air, looking towards the whistle’s source.

In the jungle, a figure vanished behind a tree.

A figure!

Indeed, it’s a mutated human! This mutant creature troop is controlled by a mutated human!

Perhaps, the mutated human in his wristband also had a whistle like this to control mutant creatures?

As his body descended, he landed among the beast herd, stepping on a mutant creature’s head, crushing it as he sent it to its demise.

Upon hearing the whistle, the mutant creatures paused for two seconds, then, like dogs without homes, desperately fled in all directions away from the tree house!

The whistle was commanding them to retreat.

Apparently, the mutated human realized that these low-level mutants couldn’t harm Li Wenxi’s tree house. Continuing would only deplete them.

The beast wave retreated, leaving behind a field of corpses.

”Xu Xin!” Li Wenxi dashed over, once again embracing blood-soaked Xu Xin, hopping in place. ”We chased the beast herd away! How did you jump so high just now?”

”Random boost, impressive right.”

”Impressive!” she said, standing on tiptoes and giving Xu Xin a ”mua” on the cheek: ”You were so cool just now, absolutely amazing!”

”Since I’m so cool, am I worth another kiss?” Xu Xin pointed at his lips and grinned.

Li Wenxi’s cheeks flushed red again, but she wasn’t shy. She wrapped her arms around his neck, stood on tiptoe, and kissed him directly.

The very soft sensation, with a hint of metallic taste, from the blood splattered near his lips earlier.

Xu Xin did not take the lead but slightly lowered his head, savoring Li Wenxi’s somewhat inexperienced kiss.

Li Wenxi closed her eyes, her dense eyelashes trembling slightly.

The kiss ended quickly, lasting only three or four seconds.

Li Wenxi stepped down from her tiptoes, cheeks rosy, but smiled brightly: ”So that’s what kissing feels like! Lips are really soft, was this your first too?”

”Uh...this...” Xu Xin suddenly felt awkward, scratching his head, not daring to speak. His first kiss was long gone, back in high school.

”Hmph, I knew it.” Li Wenxi huffed lightly, pursing her lips, then looked around and suddenly burst into laughter. ”I never expected my first kiss to happen in such a legendary place!”

Indeed, surrounded by heaps of corpses amidst a sea of blood and scattered remains of beasts, the entire land red with blood, yet here they were, standing and kissing.

Xu Xin laughed as well: ”You are quite bold.”

”It’s clearly you who asked me to do it, you smelly man!” Li Wenxi lightly punched him.

Xu Xin bent slightly under her punch.

Just moments ago, thrillingly rampaging through the beast herd, body still pulsing with excitement, a cute girl immediately throws herself into his arms, offering a sweet kiss...

After spending so long in this world, not releasing any desire, Xu Xin could hardly stand it.

Fortunately, armor doesn’t reveal much.

”Alright then, are you going to Sister Xuefei’s place? Let’s go together!” Li Wenxi handed the energy core fragment back to Xu Xin. ”With this, I can help a bit too by blowing them up with crossbow bolts, boom boom boom!”

Saying so, she gestured with her hand like a gun, mimicking an aiming stance.

Her cheeks were still flushed, making Xu Xin instinctively pinch them again: ”No need, we don’t have to go.”

”Ah? Why not?” Li Wenxi grabbed Xu Xin’s hand still pinching her cheek and asked, a bit puzzled.

”Qi Xuefei should have solved it herself, or perhaps Ji Chaoyang went over.”

On the map, the red dots surrounding Qi Xuefei’s tree house had largely disappeared, while the remaining ones rapidly dispersed, no longer besieging her tree house.

Thus, the crisis for all four of them was completely resolved.
