Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 423: Chapter 310: The Heart of the Mutant Snow Leopard_2

After the snowstorm, it hadn’t snowed again.

The once clean and white snow layer within a four to five hundred meters radius of the treehouse was now trampled and polluted beyond recognition, a complete mess.

However, looking into the distance, it was still vast and white, stretching all the way to the horizon. Quite a few wild animals capable of moving through the snow were active in this expanse of snow.

In the west, Lou Fei’Er’s three-story main treehouse, which was originally quite conspicuous with its green treetop visible from afar, was now also covered in white snow, almost invisible.

He then looked at the lake.

After half a day of calm, the temperature below minus twenty degrees had refrozen the entire lake. However, on the map, the red dots under the water were still moving nonstop.

Although the temperature on the ice was over twenty degrees below zero, beneath the ice, it remained above zero, not significantly affecting those mutant fish in the lake.

Outside, everything was very calm, with no special situation occurring again.

He went to the room to check on Ma Hongwei, who was in a weakened state, and found that he still hadn’t woken up.

However, in the southeast of the main treehouse, Ma Hongwei’s tree parasite house had already fully grown and once he woke up, he could move back in.

It’s just a pity about the things inside.

Xu Xin arrived on the first floor of the treehouse and laid out the beast corpses from his backpack.

There were five corpses of mid-level mutant creatures and more than two hundred corpses of low-level mutant creatures in total.

During the morning’s battle, the number of dead low-level mutant creatures far exceeded two hundred, as evidenced by the over thirty thousand points he had.

Calculating at 50 points per low-level mutant creature, thirty thousand points required killing 600 low-level mutant creatures to acquire. Not to mention those low-level mutant snow foxes and the like, which mostly had only 30 points, the actual number of low-level mutant creatures killed should be nearly a thousand.

The reason only more than two hundred corpses remained was that most of the corpses were consumed by the plant heart.

Although somewhat a pity, it was necessary. Without absorbing and attacking simultaneously, the plant heart wouldn’t have been able to defend the treehouse from so many mutant creatures.

His biggest harvest this time was the five mid-level mutant creature corpses!

Three snow leopards, one Snow Wolf King, and one snow fox.

Xu Xin took out the purple-grade deboning knife. He needed to first dissect these five corpses.

Hopefully, some good materials could be obtained from them.

He decided to start with the weakest.

Xu Xin picked up the snow fox’s corpse and wielded the deboning knife in his hand.

After a few cuts, the snow fox’s body was disassembled.

[Acquired contaminated mutant snow fox fur (blue) *1, contaminated mutant snow fox meat (gray) 50kg, mutant snow fox bone (blue) *1, contaminated mutant snow fox sinew (blue) *1, mutant snow fox’s tail (blue) *1]

Blue-grade fox tail?

Xu Xin immediately looked at the description of the fox’s tail.

[Mutant Snow Fox’s Tail (Blue): High-level material that can be used to make a snow fox scarf, which can withstand temperatures as low as minus fifty degrees. Below minus fifty degrees, it loses its effect.]

Xu Xin: ”!”

Here it is, clothing that can resist the cold!

Minus fifty degrees!

The current surrounding temperature is roughly minus twenty degrees.

This made Xu Xin slightly vigilant. Since clothing that can withstand minus fifty degrees appeared, it suggests that in this winter, there’s a possibility of encountering a minus fifty-degree environment!

...It seems this winter is far from over.

Although no purple material showed up, having a new material is still not bad.

He then proceeded to dissect the Snow Wolf King’s corpse immediately.

This time, a purple glow emerged.

Got purple!

A complete beast skin with white fur!

Purple-grade beast skin!

Not bad, purple-grade beast skin is definitely a strategic resource.

A purple-grade backpack goes without saying, its 2% weight perception is so much better than a blue-grade backpack, with a purple-grade backpack there’s no longer a worry about carrying too much.

Moreover, special equipment like what Zhao Xiaochuan and Wang Lei have also requires purple-grade beast skin for production, and they only need one piece!

Thinking of the [Cloak of Concealment], a slight smile appeared on Xu Xin’s lips.

In addition, there was also a wolf fang, a special material from a mutant creature that can be used to make weapons, though unfortunately, it’s blue-grade.

In that case, the probability of mid-level mutant creatures producing purple-grade materials isn’t that high either.

He didn’t stop his actions and dissected the remaining three snow leopard corpses.

Compared to the Snow Wolf King and the snow fox, snow leopards are much stronger, so the things disassembled from them are much stronger as well.

The chance of purple-grade materials from mid-level mutant creatures isn’t very high, but it’s better than low-level ones. The three snow leopards yielded one purple-grade beast skin and one purple-grade beast sinew.

Additionally, there was a set of mutant snow leopard claws (purple), weapon materials that can replace metal to make the strongest purple-grade weapons.

However, such weapon materials are no longer essential for Xu Xin, since his alchemy can produce steel, and Li Wenxi’s furnace has a chance to produce higher-grade steel, with the treehouse core able to upgrade materials to purple-grade.

In other words, he can make Steel Block (purple), the strongest material in the purple category.

Of course, this purple-grade claw is still valuable to others. After all, others do not have the alchemy ability, and people from other regions may not know how to obtain the treehouse core.

So it’s still considered good.

But facing a new material, all these pale in comparison.

Xu Xin looked at the heart in his hand, an involuntary twitch at the corner of his eyes.

[Contaminated Mutant Snow Leopard Heart (Purple): When consumed by a mutant creature, it can quickly enhance strength while restoring and fully controlling one’s consciousness. This heart, similar in nature to contaminated meat, is irresistibly tempting to beasts and mutant creatures but is the deadliest poison to ordinary beasts and survivors.

It has a certain probability to cause ordinary beasts to mutate.]

A potion that enhances the strength of mutant creatures and allows them to fully control their consciousness!

”Hiss——”

Fully control their consciousness?!

Holding this heart, an absurd idea suddenly popped into Xu Xin’s mind.

A survivor who mutates by taking a mutation pill is also a mutant creature!

Then if he took a mutation pill and ate this heart, wouldn’t he be able to... perfectly control the power of a mutant creature, not only dramatically increase physical strength but also gain countless revival abilities?!

That would be a revival ability!

Look at Ma Hongwei, he was twisted like a pretzel and still ended up perfectly well!

Xu Xin’s mind started wrestling with the idea.

The abilities gained after mutation are really tempting! Not only will his strength significantly increase, but his survival rate will also be greatly enhanced.

No, the problems after mutation are still too many, the difference with normal survivors is too evident.

Moreover, knowing the hidden truths behind this world, he still wants to live as a normal human, feeling that if he mutated into the Blood Pattern Race, the situation would become quite complex in the future.

Now, he is essentially helping the giants; if he mutated into the Blood Pattern Race himself, it seems a bit inappropriate.

Moreover, he needs to stay calm at all times to control the mutant creatures around him, while creatures with the Blood Pattern mutation are too easily driven by their instincts.

This heart is for fully controlling consciousness, but emotions and preferences may not be influenced.

Having one’s consciousness and being able to act based on it, but if that’s just what one desires, what then? For instance, slaughter.

One must know emotions and desires are related to various aspects, environmental factors, endocrine factors, etc., not just something that can be controlled only by one’s mind.

The simplest example is if one could control emotions and desires only with their mind and consciousness, women wouldn’t be sensitive and irritable during special periods, and some people wouldn’t find it so hard to quit smoking.

So if he also became a bloodthirsty person, with a bunch of mutant creatures at his command...

It just feels like something bad would happen.

He needs to have a clear mind at all times.

Forget it, considering the route of becoming a mutant creature, Lou Fei’Er’s experience shows it’s absolutely not an easy path.

His personal combat ability isn’t that important, as he’s determined to become a Summoning Master; he should let his subordinates handle the battles instead of doing it himself.

In short, let Lou Fei’Er test this path for him first to see how things go.

Xu Xin immediately sent a voice message to Lou Fei’Er: ”Come over here for a moment.”
