Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 415: Chapter 307: 2 Different Types of Mutant Humans

The sudden appearance of a hideous mutant human male frightened everyone present.

However, everyone on the scene was experienced in dealing with crises. After a brief shock, they began to collectively examine this mutant human.

”This guy...” Qi Xuefei squatted down and scrutinized the man’s face.

The man’s eyes bulged, blood vessels lacing his eye sockets.

Only his eyeballs could move. The pupils slowly rotated twice under the gaze of the others, dilating and contracting rapidly, giving the impression of being in extreme terror.

”Is he unable to even blink?” Ji Chaoyang rubbed his chin and asked.

”That’s right, only the eyeballs can move,” Xu Xin said somewhat helplessly.

At the same time, he released Ma Hongwei as well.

Ma Hongwei had already gone through the outburst mode, the blood streaks on his face faded, and he had fallen into a weak state.

At this moment, he hadn’t woken up and was still in a deep coma. He had remained in a coma throughout his outburst phase, indicating just how severe his injuries were this time.

”He got lucky,” Lou Fei’Er sighed, ”being in a coma the whole time in the bracelet, without facing the void within it.”

”But he faced an even more terrifying ordeal.” Xu Xin thought of the desperate scene when Ma Hongwei was crushed to death alive, feeling frightened on his behalf.

”...Compared to the bracelet, I would choose being crushed to death. At least we can revive,” Lou Fei’Er said with a smirk.

Xu Xin placed Ma Hongwei on a bed in another room, let him lie there, and after checking his vital signs to ensure there were no issues, he pushed open the door and walked out of the bedroom.

Qi Xuefei had already stood up by then and was looking at the hideous mutant human on the ground, slightly frowning, ”This guy looks completely different from the whistler humans. Perhaps you found the wrong person. This might not be the one we’re targeting, the ’Marauder’ you just mentioned.”

What?

Xu Xin was taken aback.

”Sister Xuefei, you saw the whistling person?” Li Wenxi was a bit surprised, asking the question Xu Xin wanted to ask.

”Yes, I did.” Qi Xuefei nodded, ”At the time, Ji Chaoyang had been helping me for quite a while, and it was mixed in with the beast tide without any intention of avoiding my sight, so I saw it clearly. Ji Chaoyang should have seen it as well.”

Xu Xin turned to look at Ji Chaoyang, who was observing the mutant human while pondering. Hearing Qi Xuefei mention him, he finally spoke, ”Indeed, I saw it too. That person was at the back of the beast group, surrounded and protected by a group of mutant creatures, looking exactly like the core of the beast group. However, until the end, I found no opportunity to harm it.”

”So, its appearance...”

Qi Xuefei spoke up, ”It doesn’t look like this person. If it weren’t for the fact that it walked upright, held tools, and its movements resembled humans, just from the outer appearance, I would say it looked more like...”

Qi Xuefei was at a loss for words.

”An ape-man?” Xu Xin interjected.

”...That’s right, they are covered in black-brown fur. Although the hair isn’t long, it covers their entire bodies. If it weren’t for their upright postures and tool usage just like modern humans, I would have mistaken them for apes,” Qi Xuefei recalled the scene carefully.

Hmm, it was similar to what he saw in the dungeons before.

The appearance of the first batch of survivors who entered the dungeon and were used for experimentation by Changyin was exactly identical post-mutation.

”They?” Xu Xin caught the key point, ”Could there be many of these mutant humans?”

”Two. I saw a total of two,” Qi Xuefei held up two fingers, ”One was the one mentioned, mingling with the team, and the other flashed by in the distance, and I’m sure I wasn’t mistaken.”

Ji Chaoyang spoke up, ”Near my treehouse, I also saw two mutant humans. Of course, they were already seen in the prophecy. They’re just as Qi Xuefei said.”

Xu Xin exchanged a glance with Lou Fei’Er.

Both of them were aware of the differences between the two kinds of mutations.

Or rather, Xu Xin himself could also create these two kinds of mutations.

The first type, mutant humans covered in fur, could be created by having a person drink a mutation concoction made from the polluted meat of mid-level mutant beasts.

This was a simple and crude mutation. According to Changyin, in his experiments, none of these mutations retained human consciousness, creating only a group of beings left with animal instincts.

The second type, with blood streaks emerging on the skin, needed Lou Fei’Er’s abilities to specifically make mutation pills for humans and survivors that allowed them to retain their consciousness while gaining an outburst ability.

This mutation was relatively more refined. Although consciousness could still be lost in the outburst state, Lou Fei’Er and Ma Hongwei had instances where they regained it during an outburst.

Compared to the usual state, Lou Fei’Er’s appearance while using the outburst ability was more similar to the one before them.

It was almost certain that this mutation, which made blood streaks appear on the skin and gave survivors the outburst ability, was a higher-level mutation than the fur growth type.
