Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 444: Chapter 319 A Silent Night_3

Ma Hongwei stood up and twisted his neck, saying, ”Actually, it’s not that bad. At least, I will absolutely not disobey your orders. When the time comes and something really happens, Brother Xin, we’ll rely on you.”

Who knows what the future holds?

Right now, Xu Xin doesn’t treat Lou Fei’Er and Ma Hongwei as tools to be used emotionlessly, partly because of this thought affecting him.

According to Long Yin, mutant beast contracts are made using the blood of high-level mutant creatures.

So if, in the future, Lou Fei’Er and Ma Hongwei’s strength reaches or even surpasses that of high-level mutants, will the contract still be effective?

Similarly, it’s the same for Mimi and Afu.

If they genuinely submit in their hearts, perhaps the future will be worry-free.

Mimi Silver King and Lou Fei’Er are now at the intermediate level, and reaching the advanced level might not be too far away. When that time comes, whether or not any issues will arise can only be known then.

”Let’s go, I’ll take you back.”

”I’m coming too!”

The three of them swung down from the tree house.

At this time, the heavy snow outside the tree house was still falling. Xu Xin and Lou Fei’Er both shivered from the cold and wrapped themselves in snow fox scarves.

However, Ma Hongwei didn’t feel uncomfortable and instead took a deep breath, ”Ah, refreshing, this really invigorates me.”

Indeed, different people do have different constitutions.

On the ground, the snow had already accumulated over ten centimeters.

”This snow is much heavier than yesterday.” Li Wenxi tucked half her face into the scarf and muffled her voice.

”Tomorrow, there might be more than two meters of snow, taller than you.” Xu Xin laughed.

”And taller than you!” Li Wenxi gestured with her hand, ”I’m not that much shorter than you, you know.”

He wasn’t just fearmongering; two meters deep of snow was very possible. After all, most areas in the forest that hadn’t been affected by the beast tide already had more than a meter thick of snow. If it really snowed this heavily overnight, two-meter thick snow would be very normal.

Finally, the three of them trudged through the snow to Ma Hongwei’s tree house. Along the way, Xu Xin also told him why all the things in his tree house were gone.

”There are actually thieves sneaking around...” Ma Hongwei said speechlessly, ”Forget it, there’s nothing valuable anyway. Everything I have is on me, though it’s a pity about the generator and the battery...”

Indeed, Xu Xin also felt it was regrettable, especially the battery, which used a blue-grade copper piece!

”By the way.” Ma Hongwei suddenly turned to look at Xu Xin, ”Brother Xin, actually, yesterday when the mutant beast army appeared, I had a strange feeling.”

”What kind of feeling?”

”How do I put this? Um... kindred spirits? I felt like even if I went down from the tree house and mingled with them, they wouldn’t attack me...”

Oh?

Xu Xin’s eyes narrowed slightly.

If Ma Hongwei hadn’t mentioned it, Xu Xin would’ve almost forgotten something. Before contracting Lou Fei’Er, when Lou Fei’Er was just a red dot and a territorial unit, he was already able to gain the favor of Mimi and Silver King.

He was wondering at that time if survivors of mutations wouldn’t be antagonistic towards mutant creatures?

Unexpectedly, Ma Hongwei actually felt this way.

”... I see, next time mutant creatures appear, we can let you guys test it out.”

Upon reaching the tree house, Xu Xin made a bed for Ma Hongwei, letting him stay for now and told him to contact immediately if anything happened.

Then, he took Li Wenxi and left Ma Hongwei’s tree house.

With the third person gone, the atmosphere between the two became a bit awkward and ambiguous again.

He looked at Li Wenxi, who still had most of her face buried in the scarf, holding Xu Xin’s arm and walking silently.

The two walked without a word until they reached near the tree house, arriving at the coordinates.

Xu Xin stopped, thinking Li Wenxi was about to go back.

Unexpectedly, Li Wenxi, with her head down, still buried her entire face in the scarf’s fluff and didn’t let go of Xu Xin’s arm, instead pulling him to continue towards the tree house.

Understanding her intention, Xu Xin quickened his pace.

Returning to the tree house, he immediately carried Li Wenxi into his arms and headed to the bedroom.

This time, there was no one else to disturb them.

Oh, and there was still a small panda sleeping soundly, which might make the two of them drowsy, so Xu Xin promptly moved it to another room.

”Xu Xin...”

A whole night passed in silence, and everything was left unsaid.
