Berserk God of War

146: Chapter 146 Heir of Prince Zhenyun 146: Chapter 146 Heir of Prince Zhenyun Back when Sikong Jing was still the head of the Shadow Sect, joining the Sect required surpassing the ordinary; it was about quality, not quantity.

However, underneath the Shadow Sect were training camps, used to cultivate elite members of the Sect.

Each individual was trained with the goal of becoming the strongest assassin.

And the assassin quality Su Yue Immortal had just unleashed had already reached the level required of a future elite member of the Shadow Sect.

“Who exactly is that so-called distinguished young master?”

Muttering quietly to himself, Sikong Jing continued forward, surpassing Su Yue Immortal and the expensive sword, and took the lead to enter the brightly lit hall; bursts of laughter were heard coming from inside.

Suddenly, Sikong Jing heard a familiar voice—it was none other than the Commander of the Yunzhou Battle Mansion…

Fan Zhong!

At the moment, Fan Zhong was standing in front of a cage covered with a massive cloth, speaking to an elegant young master, “Princely Heir, please take a look at the gift I’ve brought for you next.”

After these words, Fan Zhong gave a vigorous pull to the cloth, revealing a huge demon beast in front of everyone in the hall.

Sikong Jing naturally saw the demon beast in the cage as well—it was the Heavenly Realm Demon Beast he had seen in Ru Yun Mountain…

the Gold Splitting Steel Teeth Tiger!

“Gold Splitting Steel Teeth Tiger…”

Upon seeing the beast in the cage, everyone exclaimed in shock.

And the elegant young master clapped his folded fan, staring at the cage with sheer delight.

After a good while of observation, the distinguished young master finally laughed heartily, “Haha, Commander Fan is thoughtful, indeed, knowing that I have always wanted a Gold Splitting Steel Teeth Tiger as a mount.”

Fan Zhong, wearing a proud expression, cupped his fist in response, “It’s an honor for me to please the Heir of Prince Zhenyun.”

Upon hearing these words, a flash of understanding sparked in the watchful eyes of Sikong Jing in hiding.

If he wasn’t mistaken, this young master that Fan Zhong was currying favor with was the very same distinguished young master who took Su Yue Immortal away ten years ago.

And he is none other than the Heir of Prince Zhenyun.

Prince Zhenyun is a person of the Great Shang Imperial Family; he was ennobled decades ago with lands in Yunzhou, and although Yunzhou is a frontier territory, the title of Prince Zhenyun is hereditary.

Within the territory of Yunzhou, his position is revered and unique.

No wonder ten years ago, the distinguished young master told his father-in-law, Su Zhenglong, that even the Lord of Yunzhou had to show him respect.

Though far from the Great Shang Imperial City, the so-called Zhenyun signifies the suppression of Yunzhou, and even within the royal family, his status is not low.

The Heir of Prince Zhenyun unfolded his fan and asked with a smile, “I wonder, Commander Fan, what do you require the Heir’s assistance with?”

Clearly, Fan Zhong didn’t go through the trouble of securing a Gold Splitting Steel Teeth Tiger for nothing.

One must know that the Gold Splitting Steel Teeth Tiger, a beast between the Heaven Realm and the Transcendent, commanded power deep within Ru Yun Mountain, something that even he, as the Heir of Prince Zhenyun, had never been able to obtain.

Fan Zhong’s eyes sparkled with shrewdness as he replied with a sly smile, “How dare I trouble the Princely Heir with any significant matters?

It’s just a small favor, I hope the Princely Heir can inform me of one thing.”

Speaking thus, Fan Zhong slightly bowed his head, showing some nervousness.

“If there’s something you need, just say it,” the Heir of Prince Zhenyun said with a smile.

However, Fan Zhong took a look at the people around him.

Tonight’s banquet was hosted by the Princely Heir, inviting some of his friends; Fan Zhong had learned about it and shamelessly showed up.

But this matter seemed like it couldn’t be asked in public.

“It’s all right, those present are my close friends, and they won’t speak of it carelessly,” assured the Heir of Prince Zhenyun, still speaking nonchalantly.

After hesitating, Fan Zhong finally asked, “Well, it’s like this: rumours say that the people from the Jin Sect in Yanyun City were deliberately sent to their deaths.

I’d like to ask the Princely Heir who issued the Great Shang Emperor Order?”

As soon as this question was raised, silence immediately fell around them.

And the cold light in the eyes of the Heir of Prince Zhenyun flickered slightly as he slowly and quietly spoke, “Is this a question you should be asking?”

Bang…

Fan Zhong immediately knelt down, sweat continuously falling from his forehead as he said, “I, Fan Zhong, acknowledge my guilt and will not ask any more.”

Ever since his narrow escape from death and return to Yunzhou City, he had been unable to sleep at night.

He was terrified that the person who had issued the Great Shang Emperor Order would find out that he, as a Commander, had broken through Yanyun City, and even more afraid that some member of the Jin Sect hadn’t died but had defected to Xia Country.

If this matter got out, the person who issued the Emperor Order would surely exterminate him.

To curry favor with the Heir of Prince Zhenyun was twofold, one to get this question answered, and if not, to directly become a man of the Zhenyun Royal Mansion.

Only with the backing of such a significant support could he be at ease!

The Great Shang Emperor Order might not necessarily be issued by the Emperor of Great Shang Yang Tianmo, but it could more likely be from some important figure, someone who had merely borrowed the name of the Emperor’s Order.

And the one who could borrow it must be a core member of the Great Shang Dynasty.

It could be a terrifying power struggle within the Dynasty.

After all, he wasn’t the Commander of the Jin Sect; the Emperor Yang Tianmo had no need to take direct action just yet.

But no matter who it was, they could easily crush him, a mere Commander of the Yunzhou Battle Mansion.

“Hahaha…”

Just as Fan Zhong’s sweat flowed profusely, the Heir of Prince Zhenyun suddenly burst into laughter and said, “It’s not that this matter cannot be mentioned, but it’s just not the time yet.

Wait a bit.”

Upon hearing this, Fan Zhong let out a long breath, then stood up, thanking him profusely.

“However, I would like to know now, why do you want to ask?” the Heir of Prince Zhenyun suddenly changed his tone, asking ominously.

Fan Zhong trembled all over, but he had prepared his answer in advance and was just about to reply…

However, just at this moment, footsteps from outside the hall sounded, and Gui Jian, accompanied by Su Yue Immortal, entered.

The Heir of Prince Zhenyun immediately gestured to stop Fan Zhong’s response and asked Su Yue Immortal, “Substitute, have you completed your task?”

Su Yue Immortal’s mind trembled slightly, and she bowed her head, saying, “Replying to the young master, the substitute has not completed the task.”

“Hmm?”

Cold light flashed in the eyes of the Heir of Prince Zhenyun as True Qi of the Heaven Realm pressed down directly, and then he turned to Gui Jian again, “Since the substitute has not completed her task, why bring her here?”

Gui Jian knelt on one knee and replied, “Replying to the young master, the substitute mentioned that there was something related to your life at stake and wanted to report it.”

“Oh?” The Heir of Prince Zhenyun narrowed his eyes and looked at Su Yue Immortal, asking in return, “In this Yunzhou City, what could possibly relate to a matter of my life?

Let’s hear it.”

He trusted Gui Jian very much; since he brought the substitute with him, it must be important.

Still bowing her head, Su Yue Immortal replied softly, “This is the situation: when I went to assassinate Su Zhenglong’s family, I encountered someone in the dark saying they wanted to assassinate the young master…”

“Who?” the Heir of Prince Zhenyun demanded sharply.

Su Yue Immortal quietly stepped closer and then replied, “That person is…

me!”

As soon as her words fell, Su Yue Immortal attacked like a ghost, and a thin sword darted out from her sleeve, stabbing straight toward the heart of the Heir of Prince Zhenyun.

Both the speed and the suddenness had reached their ultimate.

In her eyes, the heart of the Heir of Prince Zhenyun drew ever closer, just an instant more, and he would be dead!
