124: Chapter 124: I Will Not Surrender!

Fan Zhong’s face turned dark as he said, “Chief Lan, I’ve dispatched a hundred thousand troops into the city, and they’ve already linked up with the officials from Jin Sect.

Just a push further and we can succeed.

Now you’re telling me to pull back?”

Lan Shou was stunned., Had they really almost rescued the people?

His expression changed, and he took a deep breath before saying, “Commander Fan, we still can’t rescue them.

This is… an Emperor’s Order from the Great Shang!”

Finally, Lan Shou didn’t plead ignorance but emphasized heavily instead.

At this revelation, Fan Zhong was profoundly shaken and could hardly believe it.

“That is to say, the people from Jin Sect were meant to be sent to their deaths.”

“They managed to hold out for nine days, which was a surprise to those who sent them to die.

Initially, the Lord of Yunzhou wasn’t aware of this ‘mission of death,’ and that’s why he sent you to the rescue.”

“But having just received the Great Shang Emperor Order…

we must not save them.

The people from Jin Sect must die by the hands of Xia Country,”

Lan Shou explained word by word.

After gaping in shock, Fan Zhong violently shivered.

He thought about what would happen if they actually rescued the people from Jin Sect—they would severely offend the terrifying figure who could wield the Great Shang Emperor’s order!

Sweat dripping continuously, Fan Zhong swallowed hard and asked, “What should I do now?

What about the hundred thousand troops inside?”

Upon hearing this, Lan Shou revealed a sinister gaze.

“Since the hundred thousand troops have already entered the city, let them die in the city along with the people from Jin Sect.”

“You and I should wait here first; if any from Jin Sect manage to break out, we still need to finish them off and then pin the blame on the people of Xia Country.”

“For now, pull back entirely and observe the situation,”

Having said that, Lan Shou stared at Fan Zhong, urging him to hurry and order a retreat.

At that moment, Sui Yu’s voice echoed from inside again: “Commander Fan Zhong, aren’t you going to lead your troops into the city quickly?”

Taking a deep breath, Fan Zhong didn’t reply but ordered a retreat instead.

But his heart was bleeding as he inwardly roared, “My great achievement!”

Before long, Fan Zhong’s three hundred thousand troops had retreated several kilometers away from Yanyun City, quietly watching it alongside Lan Shou.

On the city walls, the Xia Country’s strong men prepared to fight, stared dumbfounded at the scene.

Inside, Sui Yu’s expression was very unsightly, he remarked, “What is going on with the Commander of the Yunzhou War Mansion?

No movement at all?”

Behind him, Sikong Jing also furrowed his brows, unable to figure it out at the moment.

On the other side, Xia Dalian received a report from the Xia Country’s strong men on the city wall.

A glint flashed in her eyes, and after pondering for a moment, she swept her gaze over Sikong Jing and Sui Yu, then crisply said, “Let me tell you some bad news—the Yunzhou War Mansion Soldiers have already retreated.”

“What?”

Sui Yu along with Jin Sect masters and a hundred thousand troops cried out in unison, disbelieving.

They were so close to victory if only they had stormed the city!

A chilling light flickered in Sikong Jing’s eyes.

Knowing Fan Zhong’s ambition to earn merit, he certainly wouldn’t have retreated unless something had happened.

“Someone must have come to pass on orders, forcing the Yunzhou War Mansion Soldiers to retreat,” he reasoned.

At this, Xia Dalian’s expression turned almost mocking as she analyzed further, “I believe it’s your Shang Country’s Emperor’s Order, meant to ensure your death here as a resolution for my Daxia.”

All over, Sui Yu and others exchanged looks, shocked by the possibility.

This likelihood was very high.

Daxia had lost an Eldest Prince.

If they wanted to settle this war, then they, the principal culprits, must die to allow for negotiations between the two countries.

“It’s rather pitiful that you have been sacrificed like this,” she said.

Xia Dalian’s smile brightened even more as she suddenly looked at Sikong Jing, “Do you feel very disappointed?

After performing so excellently and fighting fiercely, to be abandoned like this, you must be angry, right?”

Upon hearing this, Sikong Jing remained expressionless.

Disappointed?

Angry?

Compared to those baseless accusations, compared to the erasure of his great achievements and even his name, compared to the destruction of his Dantian and broken meridians, what did any of this matter now?

Yet, Xia Dalian didn’t know these things.

She suddenly commanded, “Sikong Jing, kneel and submit, and I’ll spare the lives of a hundred thousand soldiers.”

Her heart was slightly agitated.

She had originally wanted to capture Sikong Jing alive, and now she could subdue his forces without a fight.

If Sikong Jing really was a military genius, then this was a great gift from Shang Country to her.

Then, she continued in her delicate voice, “I, Princess Dalian of Daxia, promise that if you, Sikong Jing, submit to me, I will fully support you so that one day you can personally lead troops and strike back at this heartless Shang Country.”

Her voice was firm, and Sui Yu and everyone else widened their eyes—Xia Dalian was the Princess of Xia Country.

A gleam flashed in Sikong Jing’s eyes as he stepped forward and asked, “If I surrender, what about the people of Jin Sect?”

“Dead!”

Xia Dalian didn’t hesitate a moment, her voice filled with murderous intent, “They killed my Eldest Imperial Brother, a feud that is irreconcilable.”

The people of Jin Sect began to panic.

Already feeling abandoned, and now with no hope of survival, their morale plummeted to the lowest point, and they could only look towards Sui Yu.

Sui Yu watched Sikong Jing with a complex expression, perhaps seeing an opportune moment.

Once Brother Sikong reached Xia Country, he would surely shine again, making Yang Tianmo and Yan Ruyu regret deeply.

One day, he would also lead the troops of Xia Country to penetrate the Great Shang Dynasty.

Meanwhile, a hundred thousand soldiers also watched Sikong Jing, confused and panicked.

To survive now, the only way was for Sikong Jing to align with Xia Country; there was no second option.

In fact, they were not entirely without the strength to fight.

But whether it was the people of Jin Sect or the hundred thousand soldiers, all had lost their will to fight because they were abandoned.

They simply couldn’t fight.

Finally, Sikong Jing stood tall with his spear, glaring at Xia Dalian and declared, “I, Sikong Jing, will not surrender!”

Buzz!

Sui Yu’s mind roared, and he clenched his fists tightly.

He knew that Brother Sikong had made his decision for the sake of his brothers and sisters still in prison.

It was what he had always said…

If he left, all his brothers and sisters would have no sliver of a chance at life.

The people of Jin Sect were also dumbfounded and looked at Sikong Jing incredulously.

They couldn’t believe that such a junior Commander of Yunzhou could resist the allure of the Princess of Xia Country.

Why could he do it?

The people of Jin Sect had been abandoned by the Great Shang Dynasty, but they hadn’t been abandoned by Sikong Jing.

Initially, no one had seen Sikong Jing, the Peak of Dark Realm, as significant, but now their eyes were filled with tears, moved by his stand.

And the hundred thousand soldiers were stunned, their faces as white as snow.

Why wouldn’t Commander Sikong surrender?

For the sake of the people of Jin Sect?

But we’ve been abandoned by the Great Shang Dynasty.

Why can’t we seek another way to survive?

Xia Dalian’s previously confident expression froze.

She stared intensely at Sikong Jing and demanded, “Why won’t you surrender?

Does the Shang Country, which regards your lives so lightly, the Great Shang Dynasty in your eyes, still deserve your desperate allegiance?”

Her eyes full of confusion, Xia Dalian couldn’t fathom why Sikong Jing had any reason not to surrender.

Sikong Jing slowly responded, “Because I have family, I have brothers and sisters in the Great Shang Dynasty.

If I surrender, they will surely die.

They are my life, I, Sikong Jing’s life!”
